Well, I got the bridesmaids dresses done. bunny_4.gif

David's Bridal Style: F12284 in cornflower

Now I am working on the rings, which is going to be way more expensive than I originally thought. My engagement ring is in platinum with diamonds in the band so a wedding band with diamonds looks best. I've seen some great rings in white gold, but everytime I ask for platinum, it doubles the price of the ring! smile41.gif I guess I'm just going to suck it up though because I can't seem to find anything cheaper. But other than that, things are going good. I haven't been in touch with the WC or anything.

I am starting to look at flowers. I'm sure if I should just buy what the hotel sells or bring fake flowers...

I just googled your bridesmaid's dresses and they very pretty. I love that this dress can be worn again, too.

As far as the flowers go, I brought my own (fake) bouquet, bout, and corsages and used the flowers the hotel provided for the gazebo (you can choose what you like) and purchased flower petals for the aisle. Your bouquet comes included in your package. I didn't think they would have a great selection of flowers for the bouquets, that's why I took my own. But, I actually really liked the arrangements that were made for the gazebo, so I thought maybe I would have liked the bouquet too if I would have gone with one of theirs. Have the WC maybe email you some sample bouquets that their florists have made so you can get an idea of what they can do.

Hi girls, it's been a while since I've played in this thread. I ended up having to move my wedding date 6th months earlier than planned so I will not be having my wedding at Riu (long story!). However, I thought it would be helpful to post the info I received from one of the WCs about the Riu resorts in Cancun. Hope this helps others in their search for a site!

I just wanted to give everyone an update.

The wedding coordinator for Riu Palace Las Americas just got in touch with me. I now have Pamela. I just thought I would post some information that she sent to me in reply to a few questions I had.

Sorry, its a bit long:

1.What does the "royal" decoration setup for the ceremony include? (This was the package I bought from the RIU)

The wedding use to be in the gazebo or the beach.

Gazebo: 2 flower arrangements with tropical flowers for the columns- the same as your bouquet (not tulips not orquids). Chairs with covers in color white and ribbon in color white (for all your guest in case to require them)

Beach: 1 flower table centerpiece with tropical flowers- the same as your bouquet (not tulips or orquids). Chairs with covers in color white and ribbon in color white (for all your guest in case to require them)

2. What are the choices for flowers? Also, I know I will need to buy bouquets for the bridesmaids, boutonnieres for the groomsmen and corsages for the mothers. I'm also interested in the hair flowers.

About the flowers for bride and groom:

The bride´s bouquet and the groom´s boutonniere are included in the wedding package but this are only to be tropical flowers (like daisies, callas, roses, gerberas, lilies and more).

If you would like a different type of flower it will have an extra charge and all flowers and colours are subject the flowers season and availability.

If you would like a different flower, please let me know at your earliest convenience to verify with our florist if the flower will be in season for your wedding date and /or if it will have extra charge.

However at our appointment shortly after you arrive to the hotel you will be able to see the flower catalog.

If I understand correctly, do all of those need to be paid in cash?

The full payment of the wedding package and the extras is done upon arrival after our meeting. The hotel accepts travel checks, visa and master card, NOT AMEX. However we recommend you to bring some cash with you. If needed close to the Hotel is an ATM machine.

3. For music, I was planning to bring my iPOD. Since my wedding is on the beach, will there be speakers or some way to play the music?

During the ceremony we use a sound system to play a CD with three different songs: The 1st song is Cannon in D Major from Pachelbel is played when you are walking down to the area(altar). The 2nd song is an instrumental song and is played when your are exchanging your rings /vows. The 3rd song is the traditional marshal nuptial song when the ceremony ends. Or you can bring your own music (3 songs) recorded on a cd, just let me know the tracks and the moment that each song would be played (not mp3 format).

In the restaurants is not possible to have any music.

4. When do I need to let you know which restaurant for the dinner and how many people?

The Dinners offered in the Wedding Packages are non-private and they have no extra charge. The specialty restaurant of your choice will separate an area for the Wedding Group. The hotel does not offer private dinner receptions at any of the specialty restaurants. The menu is the same that each Restaurant offers everyday for dinner.

Ok, so I just got an email from Pamela, my WC and I'm a little worried. I was not planning on hiring anyone to do live music for the ceremony or cocktail reception. I was just going to use a CD of recorded music for the ceremony and I was hoping I could figure out a way to play songs from my iPOD for the reception. Now it seems that we can ONLY have live music if we want to have the reception on the terrace.

I really wasn't planning to spend the money on a live band. The one the hotel offers is WAY too expensive. Should I try to find an outside vendor? I think it would be neat to have a mariachi band but I hadn't planned on it because it seemed expensive. I'm emailing the WC back to see what the options are, but apparently she has to ask permission from the hotel for us to hook up our iPOD and dock. shitfan.gif

    • My best friend is getting married with his long-term girlfriend next month. As a best friend, I want to give them the best present they would ever receive on their special day. I am planning to buy them plane tickets and book them for a one week trip abroad. However, I am torn between Ukraine ski trip and a tour to Lima, Peru. My best friend loves skiing and his future wife is a chef, so I presume she would want to experience a Peruvian taste. Now, I am confused. Which is which? I would appreciate it if you guys will leave a comment to help me out with this. Suggesting a way better idea which will accommodate the two activities for the soon-to-be wedded couple is a big help too. Thanks!
    • Hello all!! I'm getting married next week. Every arrangement has been done by my sister for my special day. When I joined in an MNC I was troubled with severe headaches and as per my colleague's instruction, I took an appointment in a nearby eye clinic. And after an eye examination in Toronto, the eye specialist diagnosed hypermetropia in me. And the doctor prescribed eyeglasses for me. The doctor suggested me to wear eyeglasses during the working time. But I used to wear it sometimes not every day. Then I was troubled with severe eye strain and headache and mom was scolding me to wear eyeglasses every day. I thought of saying goodbye to eyeglasses forever. I'm planning for a Lasik eye surgery soon before my marriage. I don't know whether I'm eligible for Lasik eye surgery. I'm tensed about its recovery time and its complications. Can someone help me by sharing your views?
    • In the 2017 bridal fashion week, many styles of wedding dresses were gradually popular. From serious bling to regal capes and fun and flirty short numbers, ByCouturier've got all the hottest wedding dress trends you need to know. Allover Sparkle
Over-the-top sequins, tonal beading and metallic embellishments turned the Bridal Fashion Week runways into a glittery affair. Perfect for evening nuptials under the stars, this trend is daring but sophisticated. Pro tip: If you're rocking a gown with lots of sparkle, keep your accessories minimal and let your glitzy frock do all the talking.  Bold Ball Gowns
If you're looking to make a dramatic entrance, a classic ball gown is for you—and we saw plenty of them. Take a cue from long, lace sleeves, or get glam with an embellished strapless bodice. No matter the details, this voluminous style is sure to turn heads.  Captivating Capes
Not into veils? A full-length bridal cape or shorter capelet is the perfect alternative: It still adds movement to your gown, but feels fashion forward. Plus, this trend is an easy way to pull off a mid-wedding outfit change. Wear a cape or capelet for a more formal look during your ceremony, then whisk it away to hit the dance floor at your reception. Short, Sassy Dresses
Whether you show off your legs (and a killer pair of heels) in an embellished mini or opt for a more conservative midi-length number, a wedding dress with a flirty hemline is a chic way to mix it up. Not willing to give up your dream ball gown? Change into a shorter frock to spice up your reception or after-party.  Plunging Necklines
The deep V-neckline is a must-try for two reasons: It flatters your upper body (even if you're busty!) and elongates your frame. A plunging V with scalloped lace is ultra-feminine, while a sleek V plays up the inherently sexy vibe of a curve-skimming silhouette. Just make sure you have fashion tape handy the day of to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions.
      Skinny Straps
We love this trend for two reasons: A gown with barely there straps has all of the sex appeal of a strapless neckline, plus added support. We call that a bridal fashion win.
    • Hello all,
I am here to get some suggestions on the best places to go on a honeymoon. I am getting married by the end of next month.
I was thinking of Bali or Maldives. But just wanted to know other beautiful and romantic places. The wedding banquet hall is a gift from our parents. The hall they have booked for us is one of the best banquet halls in Vaughan I’ve ever seen... Other arrangements like the videographer, photographer, wedding dress, reception dress are all finalized. The next week we have the pre-wedding shoot. Also, I'll start sending the invitations the same week. So, it is going to be hectic and I don't have time to rest or look for some nice places. So, if anyone here could suggest some places would be a great help.
      Let me know your suggestions.
      Thanks in advance!
