What are your mothers wearing???

Recommended Posts

My mom keeps asking me what she should wear and I have no idea. I guess I need to look around some. With it being a destination wedding should it still be fancy, casual, etc. I need help!! We are having a reception back home end of March too so trying to think of something she could wear to both. And I think I've decided on fuschia for the bridesmaids so do you need to color coordinate and if so what would go good??

Basically....I NEED HELP!!

My mom doesn't really know for sure yet, she's waiting to loose a few pounds :) lol (aren't we all). Anyways, I was thinking for her though, that a cute cocktail dress would be nice. One that has maybe some capped sleeves and a puffy bottom. I'm sort of picturing Audrey Hepburn 50's style. I figured that she's only 47 so she should be able to pull off something cute like that. We're going to look together for something once I move to Toronto this fall.

Check out this thread for some basic ideas: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t11617

I am having the same issue. My girls will be in fuschia and the guys in khaki/tan suits... so no clue what color my mom should go with. I would like something that compliments the fuschia ... because 2 of my sistesr are BMS so for any family pic. She doesn't like the traditional mother of the bride dresses... so we will probably just go regulary dress shopping.

Well, my mom is 66 and a bit overweight so the young cutesy stuff isn't going to be her style. So, she needs something that is more her age and not revealing. Probably with sleeves. So, I'm thinking even a nice dress suit but trying to think of what color to tie in with the fuschia??

I was thinking since BM have flowers on their dress and it's not total black. With the flyaway pants. It would go with the fuschia. Feedback please...
the link didn't work for me?

First off I love your BM dresses ... very cute!

I also like the Penney's Jacket... but just had a few slight/concerns.

First, not sure what time your wedding is... but in a black pants suit your mom might get pretty hot.

Second, although the black goes well with fuschia - my issue (for me at least) is that my guys will be in khaki/tan. Although, black goes with everything... I fear it will be to dark in contrast to the light suits and bright BM dresses. But thats just me.

I know my mom somewhat prefers the darker colors as they tend to be more flattering... so I was picturing maybe a deep purple or blue. It wouldn't coordinate with the BM color... but I think it will still match and give her a color as opposed to black. I don't know why... but I just don't picture black on the beach with my wedding.

Ultimately though I just want my mom to be comfortable and feel pretty/happy in what she is wearing. So if she ends up with black - I won't have a problem with it.

Sorry I realize that probably wasn't helpful. Haha! But I have been having this same issue now... I think I just need to plan a shopping trip with my mom and see wahts out there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
