Well my friends and family are ok with it b/c it is a vacation and their youngest daughter getting married. My FI family is another story. His parents have a time share at Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta and a few of them are saying they will just stay there. It is making me so mad. I understand but the thing is..they can afford it and they are being really rude about it. Our friends are the ones that can't really afford it and they are so pumped about it. My best friend is getting married like two months before us and I have asked her numerous times if they can afford it and she keeps telling me yes. Why does family have to be like that? I broke down. I know its my day and I should do what I want (I already put the deposit down so we are doing it no matter what) but I want everyone to be together. Anyone else have problems with the future inlaws?

I totally know where you are coming from...my family and friends are super excited to come to our wedding and have been saving up for months and see this as a great vacation and reunion!. My in-laws on the other hand (they have a lot of money) do not think that it is fair that we ask them to go to Mexico to see us get married. Because the ceremony is not legal, my future father in law decided to call his family and tell them that they were wasting their money on a ceremony that is not even real or legal...talk about hurt feelings! He even said that they would not help pay for any of the wedding because Mexico is so dirty and they will all get sick. So it has come down to us saying "If you want to come and see us get married, we would love to have you and if not, we will show you the wedding pictures/video when we get back". I have learned the hard way that you are not going to make everyone happy and it is YOUR day. If they really support you, they will bite their tongues and do what you ask. It will be special and don't let it ruin your plans!

I wouldn't get too upset about them staying somewhere else. While it sucks because they won't be at the same place as everyone else, I also kinda think it's unfair to ask them to stay somewhere else if they have a timeshare. Even if they have the money, saving money on vacations is still nice. Plus, it would be their vacation too.

If this were a situation where it would cost you extra to pay for day passes to a resort for them to attend the wedding, I would think differently. However you are getting married at LC right? No extra fees there.

You may even find that some people will just go do their own thing anyways. Some guests of ours stayed at our resort, but I didn't see them much more than a few times around the pool and at the wedding. People like to do their own things and explore- it's hard to get a large group to agree on anything. I had two people not even show up to the wedding- they lost track of time, apparently.

Plus- if it's your inlaws that you don't really like, be thankful you don't have to spend every moment with them. At least they are going. I hope it works out! :)

We actually booked Playa Fiesta last week so the in laws will have to pay to come into the resort and pay for all other activities that we have planned at the hotel. I will not be paying for it since we now have to invite more people to meet the minimum room requirement. Which increases our cost for the wedding. Plus the time share is 25 minutes away.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
