Has anyone been to Breezes Runaway Bay?

Recommended Posts

Im thinking about getting married at BRB too...I did look at Trip Advisor (always do before planning any trip.) My concern is if the resort is small (which I dont mind) whats there to do esp at nighttime. The last resort I went to in Cabo had NOTHING at night and it was boring unless we went to the clubs.

According to our travel agent, nightlife won't be an issue. The house band at the resort is supposed to be one of the best on the island. I believe there is also a disco/club onsite, or you could get a pass to go over to Hedonism for the night... I'm sure there's nightlife there.

I was there for my friend's wedding last year and the guests had no problem keeping themselves entertained. Granted, the group wasn't the college spring break type, but we all enjoyed staying up late. The disco wasn't bad. It was also fun hanging out at the lobby bar and listening to the piano player. They also have entertainment shows every night which were pretty fun to watch.

Hello BRB Brides!

I'm back from my visit!! And VERY happy to report that the trip was a success. Not only did I get to spend two days with the wedding coordinator (now back from maternity leave) but also met with the Food and Beverage Manager, Guest Relations Manager and Resort Manager. I also had the opportunity to meet the minister who will be performing our ceremony!

We finally got prices for the cocktail hour and private reception (6 months later ...) and I was able to select the locations for each while touring the property with the wedding coordinator.

As far as the resort is concerned, the property is relatively small but nicely maintained. They claim to have spent billions in renovations although I can't say I noticed all the differences. The rooms were clean, bathrooms had been updated and the furnishings were basic. There are 3 pools, 4 bars (including a swim up bar) and 4 options for dinner (although they are open on a rotational basis ... not all are open daily).

There is a full time entertainment staff which coordinates daily beach volleyball and other various games. Additionally, they provide nightly entertainment from talent shows to toga parties.

I took about 40 photos on the property but I'm not sure how to add them to the forum - still a newbie ; ) but I'd be happy to email them if anyone is interested.

Thanks all!

Thanks for the pictures... I think we're going to opt for the beach chapel for our wedding, since there will only be about 25 guests :)

Did you get to speak with anyone about photography? On their wedding info sheet, they say there is a $1000 fee to bring in an outside photographer, but I'm wondering if that applies to a photographer who is a registered guest at the hotel? That's currently are biggest hang up, as we can't seem to get the resort to send us sample pictures of weddings either.

I did speak with them regarding the photography options. The way they quote prices is so odd! I didn't get into whether or not a guest could e the photographer but if I were you, I wouldn't even ask. They're a guest and they carry a camera. In my mind, the rule applies to hiring an outside vendor - a Jamaican photographer.

They started to be a little more reasonable when I got down there. They quoted me prices for the bottles of champagne ... bottom of the line champagne ... that seemed quite high to me. We have a number of guests coming that live in Jamaica so I said I would have a guest bring them on property (for 1/3 the price) and they were fine with that.

Yes, the pricing is VERY odd. On their sheet, it says "48 pictures with no negatives (5x7) - $700.00" and then another $100 for the negatives on CD (so just the digital images). I'm trying to find out right now if the photographer takes 150 pictures, do we get all 150 on CD? or do we only get the 48 we chose to have printed on CD? I think in reality, we'd prefer to just have all pictures taken on CD and 0 printed... we'll get them printed after we're home. I just feel like there's a good chance of them getting damaged in our luggage on the way home.

If we have to pay $800 to get only 48 pictures... we will have to seriously consider other options. I've seen resort photographer pictures from 2 other DW's we've been at... and our pictures with a $200 digital camera were just as good and FREE!

Did you see any weddings while you were there? and/or get a chance to talk to any couples who got married there?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
