For those of you bringing the glass cylinders with floating candles over the border, how are you planning on doing that I'm going to need like 18 of them for all the tables.
I thought of shipping them down there but not sure it's a good idea. Do you think they cell something like that in Playa del Carmen for example??

you should def ask your WC. you dont want to lug that crap down there if you can avoid it. plus, most of the airlines are now charging $$$$$ for extra suitcases. you are only going to be able to carry on a limited amount of stuff, and the chances that something will break in trasit are pretty high even if you protect them... i think abbie can vouch for the way checked baggage is treated.

I'm taking three mosaic vases (that's not 18! by any means.) I stole a bunch of bubble wrap from work (I hope I don't get fired for confessing this here-hehe) and I'm praying they make it. If not, I'm sure I can find a replacement in MX. If I can't find anything, my other back up plan is to encourage everyone to get wasted during the cocktail hour so they won't notice the lack of crap on the tables. haha.

Have you talked with your wedding coordinator? They can't provide something like that? Never been to Playa but is there a Walmart? Costco? I would think you would able to find some place that would have them and prevent some worry and headaches.

        You're too funny!!!!!

It's so hard to get anything from my WC. This is her respond, tell me if it makes any sense...

ME: Do you have candles for the centerpieces??
WC: for the table ? we do not provide , but if you want we can hire them or you can bring.

What does she mean by hire?? They're candles, they burn down. Or does she mean candle holders...??

I think she means they can find a company to provide them for you. Maybe ask her what vendor could do this and you could contact them directly.

I'm also bringing down cylinder vases. 18 to be exact :-) I asked my WC if I could ship and she said no b/c the hotel doesn't want to be responsible for lost items..so I'm definitely brining them on my carry on and most likely going to use bubble wrap. I have my regular carry on that goes in the over head compartment and I have a large Puma gym bag that I'll say is my pocketbook and put them in there. If they go under the plane, chances are they are breaking. As for the left over vases, that will go to friends and family. My parents only need 1 carry on for themselves and so I'll give them an extra one with reception stuff. My WC told me to bring my stuff down there b/c the closest town is at least an hour away and god knows what they have in DR. And, not sure if you purchased your vases yet, but I got mine all at AC Moore. You can get 40% coupons online and although its only good for 1 item, I work very close to one, so everyday on my lunch I buy one or I being people with me and give them a coupon. They are so cheap that way! Good luck!

OK SO I was talking to my TA today about decor, and OOT bags etc, and she made the mention that the travel weight for bags is really strict lately (which it is) and I have no idea how the heck all this can be transported with us. When I fly for dance competitions my suitcase easily weighs 50lbs! What to do?!

I called the airlines. They said that the 1 bag per person rule starts on the 5th of May (I’m leaving the 2nd). And the carry on should not exceed 11x14x26 inches. So I packed all my centerpieces in wine boxes and planning on taking them with me on the plane..

HOLY SHIT! it's gonna be only one checked on item per person?! All airlines! What the heck!? This is major for my regular travel also! not jut in plans for the wedding. UGH! 1 piece of luggage not exceeding 50 lbs is a toughie girls!
