April 2014 Brides

Hi Ladies!  I thought it would be fun to start a thread for the April 2014 brides so we can check in on each other's progress over the next year.

We are getting married on April 26th while on a cruise to Key West & Cozumel.  We will be getting married at Mr Sanchos Beach Club while in Cozumel.  So far we have booked our cruise through Carnival and the wedding/reception through Cozumel Wedding Planner.  I'm working on our wedding website and started putting together the Save the Dates.  I'm attempting the DIY Mini Passport Save the Dates.  I plan to have them mailed by the end of this month so our guests have the next year to plan and save.

Looking forward to hearing from other April 2014 brides!

Hi!

Great idea for a forum! I am getting married April 19, 2014 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We plan on getting married at Casa Dorada, but haven't signed the contract yet (so cross your fingers!). We're inviting about 50 ppl, and I have a 10k budget(!)- butI'm not including the dress or travel costs in that.

I am researching save the dates now - I'd like to sign the contract for the hotel 1st of course - and I actually just decided I'm doing luggage STDs with the hard covers, which is an idea I got from this site. I'm hoping it doesn't get too expensive, but we'll see. I am PLANNING on making the passport invites with boarding pass rsvps (another DIY from this site)- they look like a TON of work, but they are the best looking ones I've seen.

Happy planning!!

Yay! Another April bride! I have my fingers crossed for you! I never thought I would be so into the DIY projects, but this site has so many great ideas! I've finished our DIY Mini Passport Save the Dates. They came out better than I expected for a newbie! Most have been mailed out, just need the fiancé to finish his part of the guest list. 11 months out and we already have 7 cabins (17 people) booked!

ALRIGHT!! Good for you!

This site is addicting- I can look at everyone's ideas all day (which I sort of do...). Starting my STD (weird to abbreviate...) this weekend hopefully. :)

Hi April 2014 Brides! I LOVE that I found this. I've been dying to share and learn from others in my situation.

I too, am booking my wedding in April next year. I'm just debating on the location. I was leaning toward Dreams Puerto Vallarta but I'm curious if I should keep looking to find a better deal. We are inviting over 100 people but I expect around 40-50 to actually come.

Where are you ladies having your wedding? (What Resort?)

Also, I see that one of you are doing site visits. I prob won't be able to do that. Think that's a receipt for disaster??

BTW, your STD's (haha..totally weird abbreviation) sound super cute!

Best,

E

We're TRYING to get married at Casa Dorada in Cabo, but we're having some difference in opinions with our contract. Hopefully we will come to an agreement soon! I suggest to KEEP LOOKING! I mean, I'm not sure how long you've been looking, but we looked for 3 weeks, and everything started blurring together, and we just couldn't make a decision, so I ended hiring a great WC, and she came up with places I hadn't even considered (too expensive or never heard of it) so that's how we ended up at CD. AND EVERYONE negotiates. Good luck!!

Hi! Welcome to the forum! I'm getting married in Cozumel while on a cruise, so I don't have any first-hand experience with choosing a resort. I remember a thread (can't remember which one) where someone suggested to keep the search going until you find a deal you are comfortable with. Also, as far as site visits, I think there are other options...search this forum for reviews from past brides, check out tripadvisor for reviews and reviewer photos and search Google images. Good luck and happy planning!

Hi girls! I am an APril 2014 bride as well and getting married in Cancun. I am a teacher so I have the summer off... and I literally have been full- time addicted to this site and tripadvisor since school released in May. I just want to PICK a resort and stop thinking about it so much!! I had pretty much decided on Gran Caribe Real but now am considering the Riu Palace Las Americas and the Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun again. There have been so many resorts my FI and I would have chosen (like the beach palace for example) but it came down to price for our guests. I am learning that everyone wants to put their 2 cents in... but sometimes there's too many cooks in the kitchen and I'm getting sick of trying to accomadate what everyone else wants! Does any other bride who's getting married in cancun or been to cancun have any ideas about these resorts? I feel like they all have pros and cons and they are starting to blur together now.. I'm ready to pick one out of a hat at this point!

Brittany :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
