  1. Hi ladies,

Could any past brides provide me with their experience on their wedding in Mexico. For instance the resort they chose as well as pros and cons. I am so overwhelmed and I do not even know where to begin.

    Thank you!

. The easiest way is to definitely work with a destination wedding travel agent. Most of them have questionnaires that can help you choose the right fit. They also help to possibly get discount rates and promotions that you wouldn't get with booking directly with the resort

  2. Hi ladies,

I am getting married in April 2018. But I am having trouble on the resort to use. So far I've narrowed down my choices to azul five, generation riviera maya, el dorado casita, moon palace and secret Maroma beach. Have any booked their wedding at any of these resorts? I love the karisma resorts but I do not see that they offer promotions. For instance palace resort offers free events, or upgrades for booking a certain amount of rooms. If anyone has another advice on other resort hotels I should look at please let me know. :)

. Hi just had my wedding 3 weeks ago at a Karisma resort, Azul Sensatori to be exact because I had kids at my wedding but I worked with a destination wedding travel agent and received a few promotions that way. I don't think those resorts themselves directly offer promotions

  3. Just got back from my wedding and honeymoon and I can honestly say I had the smoothest wedding day at Azul. And I honestly can say I don't have anything negative to say about my experience. I got everything I asked for and they decorated the Ballroom (which honestly isn't all that bad like others had mentioned before) exactly how I wanted. I even payed extra to extend my reception an hour because everyone was having such an amazing time

  4. I have also been switched from Paula to Marco and yes he does take forever to respond. I just continue to email him my questions and decisions and he inputs them all at once =p I hope he'll pick up the pace soon since I'm not submitting my final payment until it's all straight =P

I also got switched to Marco about a month or so and he started out responding within 24hrs and then started taking a while. They were having phone issues for a while. Noe that it's fixed I send emails and then call a few hours or the next day and he usually answers and we just go over the email. My wedding is less than a week away and so far so good. I haven't made any payments yet because I was waiting for the wedding builder to be updated correctly

  5. I had Marco and fired him lol no really he was So unorganized and couldn't answer my questions. He took forever to respond and always talked in circles, it made me so nervous. I just switched by telling my travel agent, I've been assigned but haven't spoken to the new WC yet

. He's been responsive to me. Could be because my weeding is only a few weeks away. This week was the only time he took 48hrs to respond. Is everyone having a symbolic wedding?

  6. I am at the Sensatori right now and was married on March 7th, two days ago. I brought most of my own decor due to the ridiculous prices being charged by Lomas. We had two suitcases but it really wasn't that much stuff, just bulky. Table runners, chair bows, gazebo sheers, chinese lanterns, framed signs, candles, raffia fans for the ceremony and maracas for the reception. In the last 1.5 years of planning I had repeatedly heard $5 per person as a typical set up fee so for our group of 16, I assumed about $80 - $100 US for the setup. I couldn't believe it when they advised me just a few hours prior to my wedding that it would be $250 US. I tried to negotiate it down but they would not budge. Any other brides have this happen???

I didn't expect that the set up fee would be $5 per person. The resort only profits from weddings when it comes to items needed really which sucks for us brides. They defiantly should have give a price prior to the day of, that's ridiculous. How was your day overall?

  7. Hello ladies!

The WC that I was working with left the company and now working with another WC named Marco. Does anyone else have him as your coordinator and does he take weeks to respond to your emails? I never had this issue with my initial WC Paula. She was wonderful, easy to work with, and communicated very well with me.

PS thank you to all of the past brides for your amazing ideas from your weddings! Y'all have been a great deal of help and a breath of fresh air to know that I'm not alone with trying to plan a destination wedding!

I'm now working with Marco as well. I also had Paula before. He responds to me usually same day.

  8. thanks! who did you find as a local florist? has it been pretty easy to work with them to get what you envision? Good luck with your big day!

Also- I just found this in the original email from my WC, "Decor: Lomas Travel provides all of the wedding décor for Azul Hotels. If you would like to provide some personal décor you may do so, however all items are subject to a setup fee...No outside vendors are permitted for décor. " Were you able to get around this??

. They did advise that they are the only ones that can provide decor and that they don't allow outside vendors except photographers, make-up and hairstylist. If I have to go and get my flowers myself and bring them o the resort, I will because technically any decor I bring on my own is another vendors item. I just won't let the vendor come on site

. No I was never told that I could not use an outside vendor. They told me that if I used an outside vendor that I would be charged a fee of $800. I am using Maya Floral. And yes the guys name is Marvin and he responds well and easy to work with

  10. Hi Ladies!

Just found this website and thread this evening, and wow, so much info! Sorry upfront if this is a long message!

I'm planning our Azul Sensatori wedding for September 2017 and have most of the big decisions made:

    • Always and Forver package
    • cocktail reception at Palapa Yoga the night before the wedding as a welcome reception for everyone
    • ceremony at Zocalo Gazebo at 6:30 pm
    • private dinner reception at Plaza Zavas at 7 pm (we were bummed there was no time for a cocktail reception in between the two events, so moved it to the evening before)
I had originally been picking out decor on the lomas travel website as well as planning on bringing down additional items, but now I'm re-thinking things and wondering if I should be bringing more in myself. Honestly, I didn't know/realize that their prices were really high, I just figured, it's a wedding, everything is expensive..so I had a few questions for past brides...

    • what was the set up fee they charged for bringing in your own decor?
    • a lot of you mentioned that you brought in your own organza to use for the sheers for the gazebo, chair bows, table overlays, etc...did you have these all pre-cut to the correct dimensions or did you just hand them the bolt of fabric and let them do it all?
    • do they pack up all of the items and return it to you?
    • what sort of lighting is there at the Plaza Zavas at night?
So far, we were planning on bringing decor for the tables including: little glass votive candles with LEDs, string lights, luminary bags with LEDs for around the pool, artificial succulents to place around the tables.

Also, Flowers...I've been going back and forth with my WC about bouquets...I send a picture showing the colors I want, saying that it doesn't have to be those exact flowers, but just whatever they usually use, but in those colors...and she send back an insane quote for the exact bouquet that was in the picture. How did you all get the bouquets you wanted? Asked for the exact flowers and in what colors, or let them design something? I'm so lost with this part.

Thanks in advance for any/all help and advice!!

. Hi my wedding is two months away. I opted to use a local florists for all my flowers because the cost worked out way cheaper even with the outside vendor fee. The prices they were quoting me for center pieces were way more expensive than even here in NY. I am also bringing all y own decor down including the table cloths. Not sure what the set up fee will be.

  11. Hey guys!!

I'm new to this forum, my fiance and I have our entire wedding planned for 2018 and just decided recently to call of the whole thing and do a destination wedding which is quote exciting to say the least.

We have never traveled ourselves and we couldn't even afford a honeymoon the original plan, so this way we get to have our wedding AND honeymoon! SOLD :D

We have narrowed it down to Jamaica, and there are 2 resorts that we are looking into: The Riu Ochos Riu and the Grand Bahia Principe. It is quite difficult to find wedding package online besides the basic post on their website. We are waiting to hear more from our agent but I fear this could take some time and we want to start planning and finalize and cancel our other plans so we have been trying to do our own research.

I need help!! Anyone have any advice as to which resort is better for couples, families, weddings, food, in general etc.

They both look stunning and I have compared the packages but don't have prices for all the extras.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

    Thanks!!

Congrats. Happy you and your fiancé get to have your honeymoon now. I would suggest just contacting the resorts directly and speak with someone from their wedding department. They can sometimes email you all the additional information that you need

  13. We just got engaged on Christmas 2016. We have always talked about a wedding in Mexico. Francis of Assisi in Xcaret is where we want to get married. I'm looking for the closest place to stay for my wedding party. If any brides or now wives have any information that can help me, I would forever be grateful!

  14. Hello Ladies!

I am working on planning my August 2018 wedding. After a few life changes we are now considering a new resort. We are trying to decide between Azul Fives and Azul Sensatori. Can anyone tell me why they decided to go with Azul Sensatori as their resort? I am working on my research and all responses will be appreciated. :)

I chose Sensatori because I am having children at my wedding and even though I only visited 3 resorts, my visits there was great. There was more than enough activities for children (especially the Nickalodean Playhouse) and for adults. It had both an adult only section and a family section. Best of both worlds in my opinion.

  15. @@kat5849 The resort is very nice. I visited last October before booking and it is very kid friendly if you plan to have children at your wedding. That was the main reason I chose this resort out of the others. The one downside to the resort is that the beach is very small and is rocky at some parts. My wedding is in May 2017 as well and i am in the process of figuring out decor which many of the ladies have suggested using Katy from Love and Lace
