  1. How much should I tip?? and who all should get the tip? I was thinking Wedding coordinator, bar tender, photographer, hair/makeup stylist ummm wedding officiant... am I missing anyone??
  2. Did you do a candle lighting or anything instead of sand?
  3. I must have an extra special man then, cause he remembers EVERYTHING!!! the date we met, were we met, the first kiss, where we kissed, the date we moved in together.....he even remembers right down to what my favourite lip gloss is.... and iv never told him LOL.... all the little details he can remember....now tell him about an upcoming event... he forgets....hmmmm better keep reminding him about the wedding date
  4. Iv cut my list down, and feel as though its not fair to cut certain people out to fit someone iv never met before....But I also think its not fair to not invite a SO of a guest.....surely you can see the dilemma
  5. Sweet! I will have to check them out haha
  6. Who did you fly through?! I free upgrade!!! how sweet is that!! Did you book through a travel agent? I decided not to cause guests could get a better deal from where they were flying from, as well as Flight centre told me that they could do nothing to help out guests coming from Scotland as its a totally different system. So I just thought everyone could book on their own! Fingers crossed the hotel doesn't book up haha
  7. @@calgarybride2015 Hey! Can you please send picture of the shells briannehillier@@gmail.com I think we live close together so I can come pick them up if I can use them Thanks!!
  8. We opted out of the civil ceremony in Mexico and are just doing the symbolic one and getting legally married at home. Which date do we celebrate as our anniversary?
  9. I am having an issue with this also. I have invited all of my family and very very few friends (mostly wedding party are made up of friends) and then family as the rest. I have invited family who's S/O they have been with a long time, but there is one cousin that just started dating a guy and I didn't say +1 on her invitation and i'm not really sure if that was proper. For me it isn't a matter of cost, but numbers... I have 143 person guest list and have only booked ceremony/reception for 80 guests. My fault totally, but i really wanted to get married on the beach and it only allows 80 people including the wedding party! I don't want to tell her she cant invite him but on the other hand if he puts me over what am i to say? Maybe check with the resort to see if one extra body makes a difference?? ahh so hard!! Love my family to death! But MAN there are a lot of them!! On my FI side too!
  10. Thanks @marinah84 I just saw that some people do paint as well... get a white canvas and have two different coloured paint and pour it from the top and it combines all pretty! What a neat idea!!!
  11. I have a question. I would like to do the sand ceremony however i'm not sure how it all works. Im sure you can do whatever but I wanted to get some opinions on what others are doing or what they did. Do we pour at the same time? If we do this wont it be just mess of sand, as apposed to pouring one at a time and making it into a neat pattern? Thoughts?
  12. I am not sure if you got an answer for this or not yet, I am doing the buffet for my guests as i'm looking at a huge group and it also gives people the option to eat as little or as much as they want. I have received my rough estimate from Ariadna and the buffet is 53$ per person. ( don't know if that is American or Canadian) I probably should have asked that haha.... Kids are 20$ each. Also i read somewhere that a couple went to pay using travellers checks and Now Jade didn't accept them... can anyone verify this?
  13. I loved this story! And all the pictures! I too love Disney...its funny because for my engagement we were having a halloween/house warming party... and my theme that i chose was Disney! however with it being halloween i gored it up a little and had people do "dead disney". I had no idea it was coming!! and I had so much makeup on that no one could see my facial expression LOL Let me see if i can attach a couple pictures!
  14. @@rachelia160 thanks for the info! I email Ariadna to see if i can change the location for the cocktail hour!! No one has booked yet! With a wedding date if October 20th I asked that everyone be booked no later than September 1st. Do you think thats leaving it too late? Is anyone else using the soloist for the cocktail hour? I will check out Amols!! Thanks ladies! @@smileitseb i too was thinking about get the Maracas from Mexico when i got down there, but i have this huge fear that i wont be able to get them personalized of find the colours i want LOL.
  15. @@rachelia160 you are totally right! I have read that not a lot of decoration is needed because of how beautiful the location is! We are doing the ceremony on the beach (which of if have over 80ppl- which im hoping not) then i may have to change it... the cocktail hour is at the orange lounge, which i have heard mixed reviews about this....not too sure if its nice or not. Seems to be... and our reception is in the Bamboo Room- again based on amount of guests. My FI and I both have HUGE families and we cut out list down to 143ppl thinking that a lot wouldnt come. But man were we wrong everyone seems to want to come! What about you? @@JenniferH114 thank you so much!! I didn't even think about the carry on!!! So I can bring a carry on as well as my wedding dress and same for my man he can bring a carry on as well?
  16. Awesome!! Those pictures are great!!! I have no regrets picking this resort!!! Thanks for sharing As for extras, i was thinking fireworks LOL but they don't do those due to safety reasons. I also like the idea of those lantern things that people release into the air, again safety issues and im sure environmental issues etc. They did offer me cold fireworks which i think are just let off from the ground and only go up 10 feet or so, not really sure. But I don't know what else im looking for. Maybe im just a brat haha. I noticed they dont really do anything for decor. Paper lanterns like you said you were using. I want to buy some in my colour as well. I just dont know where to get them LOL. I see so many little things people use for wedding decorations and gifts and dont know where to look for the same things....
  17. Congratulations!!! I remember trying to pick a resort... I was sooooooo incredibly stressed out... i must have gone back and forth between 10 different places. I also had a lot of family members in my ear saying which resorts where the best. What i did was picked a location. So i didnt want to be in Cancun or Playa del carmen, and thought I wasn't sure about going much more south cause its a long drive from the airport. I researched a ton of hotels and found that this was better then looking on travel websites. a lot of hotels have websites with tons of pictures as well as all the wedding info you need. I picked The Now Jade Riviera Cancun (which none of my family has been to) after originally picking Grand Bahia. However i did change my mind a lot and was extremely stressed out. But i finally just picked one and stuck it out. I hear Grand Bahia Coba isn't on the ocean side. You have to cross to the other resorts to get any beach. I originally picked Grand Bahia Tulum but didn't like what they offered for wedding details. Strictly white was there only colour option. So i choose somewhere else. I spoke to a wedding specialist at Flight Centre and they gave me some info, but decided to opt out of booking through them, as guests could get cheaper rates from where they were flying from. Honestly though, once you pick the resort (which is the most stressful part) it will be easy from there. I had so many questions but this website and everyone apart of it has been extremely helpful!!!
  18. @@rachelia160 you will have to fill me in on all your little details!! LOL Im finding it really hard to make decisions based on just the few pictures they show! Would you mind sharing some pictures with me when you get back?? Also one thing i noticed with Now Jade is they don't really offer extras to make it extra special..maybe cause its not a dedicated wedding resort... i don't know... they don't really have a lot of extras ya know. at least they don't specify anyways. Between buying all the stuff to make decorations, and buying the table cloths and chair covers and ties and paying for the extra luggage on the airplane, maybe it would be less money and way less hassle... i think i may actually consider this!! Now i just have to figure out favours... i know that you can have things shipped to the resort but then what if they lose it? Ahh so many questions! haha.
  19. Congrats!!! Wedding planning is exciting! I think its nice to have your bridal party all matchy matchy but I personally think you should let your guest wear whatever. You want them to be comfortable! It will be hot and every person has different comfort levels. As well as some people cant pull off certain colours etc.
  20. Hi!! IM GETTING MARRIED!! LOL Is it weird that i might just be obsessed with this whole wedding stuff... i literally dream about it, spend all day researching stuff and now I have found this new amazing forum!! I will be getting married at the Now Jade Riviera Cancun in Mexico. I have read that a lot of brides take a tone of decorations down with them... Where do you put it all?! Im expecting a very large group (approx 96 ppl) and theres no way i can fit 96 chair ties in my suitcase, let alone all the favors etc... does anyone have any ideas? Also I was wanting to get maracas for the favors with our wedding info painted on them. Does anyone have any ideas where i would find those? Thanks!!!
