  1. @@Starum2288 I did the pick two, or whatever, and did the surf/turf with fillet mignon and lobster, which everyone loved. I just received my photos from Lunic. They're stunning! I'll post some soon!
  2. We had no problem with customs. I did have all my receipts on my carry-on, but I got the green light. I was so nervous, but i did not even get approached about all my decor, wedding dress etc. one thing I did do was wear my rings bc I didn't want to send them through X-ray and such. We watched a wedding yesterday at tucanes which looked like so much fun. Now, Getting married today! Fill you guys in when I get home.
  3. @@Tagliatti01 We don't have many decorations that we're bringing down. I bought a suitcase from Goodwill for $10 and as of right now I have the following packed in it: -Sheers (3 different kinds) -15 OOT Bags (Crossword puzzles, all the things I have pictures of) -FlipFlops -Little Gems to put on the tables for the reception -Place Cards for the dinner -Menus for Reception Dinner -Koozies And that's really it. I'm renting vases when I get there and using the bridesmaids bouquets as the center pieces. I'm not doing any chair covers or colored table cloths because I figure the surroundings will be beautiful enough and no one will remember this little stuff.
  4. So only 2 more weeks until we leave! I think everything is pretty much in place with only a few more details left. The OOT bags are all finished. Of course we'll be putting them together when we get there! I have to give props to so many posts and ideas I have seen from this website, pinterest and simple google searches! Now, my new wedding coordinator is Martha. She states that we have to make our payment before we leave for the trip, however, I thought people stated they paid their final payment on site. I'm not sure what to do. Nervous about paying before it all happens. Will post more later if I have time. I also have our programs which we got from "FirstComesLovePrints" through Etsy. They are AMAZING and she was very easy to work worth. I definitely recommend her! Since we are having our reception at Tucanes, I want the floating candles and poles wrapped with lights, but it seems like they are much cheaper if you wait to do this until we are on site, because from what I have read it's the way to go! Happy planning ladies!
  5. @KimberlyD They say that it is an $800 vendor fee OR they have to stay 3nights at the resort. Does that help?
  6. I just heard from our new coordinator, Martha. I have a question for you girls. So when getting the hair/make up appointments together, I did not qualify for the bridal spa because I have too many bridesmaids (I have 5, not an outrageous number), so Marisol suggested getting our hair/makeup done in the room. No mention of extra price was noted. Then Martha states that it is an extra $25 per person. Not only are the prices for hair and make up expensive ($91 for hair and $91 for make up), but they want to charge even more. Have you girls paid just as much, did you end up just going to the salon to have everyones makeup and hair appointments. I know I've already asked a lot of people because it's a trip, not just the normal wedding, and I hate adding more to their plate. I'm already covering $50 per bridesmaid for their hair, I just can't see paying another $25 for each one. Any suggestions?
  7. Welcome @@Keegan ! I'm doing a welcome party by having the Mexican Donkey Bar Cocktail Hour, instead of having a cocktail hour in-between the wedding and the reception. I figured, why pay for a cocktail hour when people may want to go back to the room to freshen up, AND they can get free drinks at a bar. I'm only have approx 25 people at my wedding so they can just meet up. I'm using the free Spa Package that I received with my travel agent which includes make up and hair. I'm going to my hair stylist here at home to do my hair and taking MULTIPLE view pictures in order to ensure my hair will be how I want it due to the language barrier. I was told I could not have a rehearsal/walk through, which is very frustrating. I also did the always and forever package. I have marisol, and it has been VERY difficult to set things up. @@Nichole0878, the rehearsal dinner that you set up, was that your "free reception dinner" that you changed to rehearsal, or was it a separate dinner on top of that? Thanks.
  8. I remember reading back which of the DJs people recommend through El Dorado, but I can't remember which one. DJ All Music or Mega DJ. Thanks Girls
  9. @@travelgal78 - CONGRATS ON YOUR WEDDING! And I'm so happy to hear it went amazing!!! So I started making my barefoot sandals. On Etsy they ranged from $15-20, not including shipping. I have been using Michaels/Hobby Lobby coupons to get beads half off, and I have made 1 so far (I have to make 6 total, 1 for me and the rest for my bridesmaids). Has anyone used Vanessa Jaimes. I REALLY don't want to pay the outside vendor fee, but she is so much cheaper than El Dorado for flowers, she is asking $25 for bridesmaid bouquets, where Marisol quoted me $100. Has anyone driven to Vanessa Jaimes' shop to just pick up the flowers, or would this be a disaster?
  10. Hello all, I have been doing a lot of reading on the older EDR posts, and they are mentioning things such as "20% off their guests room and the bride and groom stay free". Is this true for anyone else at generations? I'm nervous I didn't ask enough questions, etc. with my TA because I did not get any such deals. I know I am going during a busy season (end of December), but I have not been told anything about my credits from my guests staying being put toward my room, or staying free for any amount of time and we are paying a good amount for our room, which is the premium swim up suite, NOT a casita... (I'm staying at EDR). @@ChiTiff , I'm working with Nicki from Legacy and haven't gotten much from her side. What about you?

  12. Thank you @@AllieH ! So, the DIY projects are underway and I have made a good dent today! I was wondering about the OOT items. I plan on bringing some imodium, advil, alka-seltzer, sunscreen and aloe vera. Am I okay with bringing all of these in my suitcase? I know it's probably a stupid question because people bring meds with them all the time on vacation, I just didn't want to throw up any red flags due to all of the individualized packets. Haha.
  13. Thank goodness... this thread is no longer archived. I was ALMOST panicking. So, for my ceremony, even though we are getting married here first, I was still going to have my dad speak (he's an elder at our church), and then my fiancee's friend (who we are getting ordained) to do the actual "vows". Do we need to have the WC or whomever do the ceremony, even if it is just symbolic? Also, I'm thinking of doing a "naked" wedding cake. They are so pretty! I bet Loma's will still somehow charge me extra, even though it's less that they even have to do... @@mkg51615 - This is the OLD ceremony script I found from the beginning of this thread. I started from page 1 and I am working my way through. Not sure if this is up to date... 14. So the EDR site was archived and no more comments are allowed , so I was hoping you guys could help me with something. I'm looking at the older posts on EDR, I tried to just start from the beginning, and I feel like I may be missing something or just messing up. So I have my actual ceremony set for the beach around 3:30p and then I was going to have my dinner/reception at Tucanes around 6p. It looks like the people earlier on were talking about having the ceremony at one place, dinner at another restaurant, and then the reception somewhere else. I thought the dinner and reception were grouped together. If they are separate, is the reception longer? Has anyone experienced this? Or can someone just explain how their day went and such? Thank you!
  15. @@girlinthecity97 - Thank you so much for all of the advice. What kind of tables do they have for the reception. I'll be at Tucanes with 40-50 people. Also, I really do NOT want a sweetheart table, but I'm wondering if it will be easier since some people are coming with dates that won't know other people... Any suggestions? Thanks girls!
