  1. I totally agree. I live in Las Vegas and it can happen here but I honestly think you should at the very least be given two options. I am so nervous about everything because it seems you are at their mercy. My husband to be is concerned that the pricing will all change drastically when we get there and we will be screwed I have 60 or so people coming and I wake up with nightmares all the time about it. Please tell me it was smooth...Can anyone who has already been married at Moon Palace confirm that prices you were given and services provided were accurate? My budget is about $15,000 and not a penny more. From the start Moon Palace seemed to be the most bang for your buck so to say but now I am second guessing everything after seeing the insane vendor pricing for DJ and Photo. I was told a number of things were included since we have more then 75 rooms booked only to find out that they actually just changed what is available for 2015 weddings. Now it seems you only get free room nights which I am not interested in so much. Anyways I am grasping at a glimmer that someone had a great EASY experience when it came to final billing and day of. Anyone??

We only had 8 people so can't comment on the free room nights etc but I'm pretty sure we paid everything up a month before our wedding.

Just keep all your contracts and bring then with you. The only extra charge we had was flowers thrown after our ceremony. We just bought the packages for the wedding and photographer. The 16% tourist tax sucked on top of everything.

We were really happy with our wedding day and the coordinators are attentive when you get there.

I didn't care for the resort but that was just us.

  2. I was the same as you. It seems insane. I am a photogrpaher myself and for what you get their packages seem WAY over priced.

We got married here and used DreamArt. We were happy with the pictures that were given. They were really nice.

I think the problem with getting married at a resort is that they kind of hold you hostage with vendors. They know this and charge high prices because they can and couples will pay. They charge North American prices but really I'm willing to bet they pay the photographers Mexican wages.

  3. We are getting married at Moon palace 3/28/15. Just received photographer pricing and I am floored. Does anyone have an opinion on Dream Art Photography? What package did you book. I am so overwhelmed with the DJ and photographer I am honestly in shock. Considering bringing my own photographer from home. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

We used DreamArt and were happy with the results. They were expensive but our pictures are beautiful. We were originally contracted with Ocean Photography but the resort started using DreamArt and switched it on us (without letting us know even though they changed the contract!!!). Anyway, I had a melt down but I was happy with them during the day and after getting the photos. I can't comment on the package because they made ours up to ensure we got everything we were contracted to get with Ocean and some extras to make up for it.

We had two photographers for the getting ready and ceremony, including a videographer, and for pictures and reception we had one photographer. We also got a photobook made. They did mess up our book and put the wrong wedding day on the cover but they very quickly made and sent us a new one.

Now I kind of wish I would have tried on a mermaid! But I am so in love with my dress I can't even imagine any other gown! I can't wait to get my dress back from my seamstress!! She is working her magic.. what spanx cannot do.... my seamstress can!!! hahahaa

I've told my fiance that my best accessory is my spanx. I think he almost died laughing. Have to find humor in all of this!!! :)

Signed my final PO and have been assigned Josphine as my on-site coordinator. Everything has gone so smoothly this week and everyone I have been in contact with has been super helpful! Couldn't be more ready to get down there! 2 weeks from today!!

We had Josephine. We were really happy with her when we got to the resort. She completely ignored us before we actually got to the resort which stressed me out but once there she was great.

  4. Is anyone having a reception in the ballroom? My wedding will be in june and we want our guests to be in the air conditioning.

We are using the Bugambilias gazebo for the ceremony. Is there a ballroom close that you'd recommend that doesn't appear to be dated. I know playacar palace ballroom has draping already do any have draping already at moon?

Also is there a terrace that is private and not by a gazebo/wedding location that I can use for the welcome party?

I plan to use the dinner reservation for the rehearsal dinner with bridal party and our close family members. Is there a restaurant that you recommend?

The Bugambilias gazebo is in a busier section of the resort than the Tucan gazebo with the lobbies for Sunrise and Nizuc close by. I think Nizuc might be closest and it's definitely the least busy out of the two. Maybe pick a ballroom in the Nizuc section? In any event be prepared for a lot of walking.

I don't really have any restaurant recommendations for you. I didn't really like the food at any of them but the Caribeno at Moon Grand was the best to me. It's also furthest away from everything so less busy.

I got married at the beginning of July and was shocked at how packed this resort was. Our wedding was fantastic but the sheer size of the place and crowds were not fun. Also for some stupid reason they put half of us in rooms next to the Moon Grand lobby and half in Sunrise meaning a 20 minute walk between the two.

  5. Hi Lydia,

Do you think the rooms will be large enough for myself, 4 bridesmaids and my mom to get ready??

I found out, they do have a "Get-Ready-Room" option but it's $400!!!! Outrageous!

    Thanks,

    Lindsay

The rooms at the resort are quite large. Perhaps? $400 seems like a lot. Why don't you go to the resort, take a look at your room and make the decision then?

I did the same with the carriage; told the wedding coordinator I'd decide when I got there. Incidentally, I didn't use the carriage because my room was 20 feet from the gazebo where I got married!

  6. Where is everyone having their ceremony? The beach just seems right for a destination wedding, but i chose a gazebo to have more of a dramatic entrance with the horse and carriage. Had anyone done a ballroom reception?

I got married in the Tucan gazebo and loved it. It's a lot more private than the beach and they also do up the gazebo with the colour combos you pick. I personally liked the Tucan because it's more private. When I was there in July (last month) the resort was in the process of redoing the rooms around the Bugambillias gazebo and it felt strange to be in that section. But that's just me.

  7. Did you have a stylist or just the Resort Spa do your hair and makeup?

    Where did you get ready?

I used the resort spa for makeup and hair. Basically, my then fiancé got ready in his room while I was at the spa for two hours and then I kicked him out when I got back and got ready. I think that having the bridal/groom suite is only available for morning, early afternoon weddings. I highly doubt the resort would give someone a room for a day that they can charge the full room rate for (ie check in is after 3).

I'm nervous about bringing the maracas as I have found and made just enough!! Lol hope they all make it! Any goodies anyone can think of that will travel well for welcome bags?? So far I have sleep masks, travel candles, mini massagers, mini maracas and I was thinking candy and Advil packets lol

That would be wonderful but unless you have smokers in your party, I wouldn't bother with the candles. We had absolutely no luck finding matches of any type at the shops or at reception. (We wanted to use wax to seal the sand in the case from our sand ceremony)

  9. When have other people heard from their on site coordinators? I have 20 days till my wedding and still haven't heard from our on site coordinator. My off site coordinator, Brenda, only responds to my emails about once a week and never answers all the question and requests I have. I'm getting nervous and frustrated about the whole thing.

Hi, I just had my wedding there 3 weeks ago. I got a on-site coordinator about 30 days before (Joseline) who did not contact me at all until two weeks before the wedding and 1.5 weeks before I left to go to Moon Palace. I sent her a couple of emails and one rather formal "would you please give me the courtesy of a response" email which seemed to have worked. I finally got a response. Once at the resort it was great but it's definitely stressful getting responses from the on site coordinators beforehand.

  10. Hi Brides! I'm getting married in November and am planning to have my hair/makeup done by Moon Palace - how far in advance should I look into making my appointments and who do I contact?

    Thanks!

    Lindsay

I believe you can book this 30 days in advance. That's what I did. I got the salons website address from my non-on site coordinator and booked it there. It was really simple and just required filling in a form. I can't remember when my visa got charged though!

I really liked my hair and makeup. I think it took almost 2.5 hours in total.

  11. @@LydiaButterfly Do you recall the prices/packages for Dream Art? I'm debating whether to take my own photographers or not.

No, sorry, I don't. We booked in March with Ocean Photography. DreamArt came aboard in June so they honoured our contract with Ocean as we had already paid for it. I don't know anything about the packages available.

I do have to say that I love our photos. It was hard to choose which ones to bring back home!

  12. Hi Lydia,

Our wedding is in November and we will be using Dream Art. Apparently they are also the ONLY photographers on MP's accepted list, so I imagine a lot of brides will be dealing with them.

Your wedding must be coming up - how were they as photographers? Any tips?

    Thanks!

    Lindsay

We got married yesterday! We did use Dream Art and I haven't seen the photos yet. The photographers and videographer were great and very professional.

I was hesitant because they were substituted without us being previously informed but that was the fault of the hotel, not the photography company. Apparently they do photography at a number of resorts.

We look at our photos tomorrow and will let you know how they look afterwards.

  13. We didn't get an on-site coordinator until 4 weeks before. We had Elizabeth, who I believe was off-site, and handed us to Josephine. Josephine didn't contact us until a little under 2 weeks before and we are still ironing out details. One week until we leave...

I hope that everything runs smoothly once we get there. I am also being all my contracts to make sure what we requested is what we get.

LSW002: I guess you didn't lock down your contract with Ocean first. What a bummer. We booked our photographer back in March so about 5 months before.

On another note, we booked our site venue 7 months before but I notice some people don't know their venue until they get there?

  14. That's interesting. Yes, no one cared to tell us that the photographers had changed. We have already paid for the photographers as part of our final bill. It was pretty sneaky they sent our contract but changed the name of the photographers so I had to go back in our emails and check because I didn't recognize the name.

I'm hopeful my wedding will be good but I'm getting frustrated with the lack of response from the coordinators at Moon Palace. It's Sunday now and still no response which means I'll have just one weekend before we go to get everything ready once I get my questions answered about our ceremony and reception!

I'm getting married in August and had been in contact with Ocean. I just emailed back earlier this week to officially book them and was informed they have been replaced by Dream Art. I have checked out their website and like heir work, but I am frustrated because now we are going to end up paying about $400 more than we originally thought. Regardless, I'm still going to book with them because I don't want to have to pay a vendor fee to bring anyone else in. Please let me know what you think of their work!

Also, I was getting frustrated because my wedding is less than 60 days away and hadn't heard from an on site coordinator so I can't even imagine your frustration! Good luck!

We didn't get the name of our on-site coordinator (Josephine) until 30 days before the wedding. I've sent three emails and not one word still! Not even an introductory Hello. We get married in less than two weeks!

  15. Has anyone used Dream Art Photography for their wedding? Back in March, we signed a contract with Ocean Photography because we really liked what we saw in the webiste. It was booked through the resort. I got an email yesterday from Dream Art confirming our package. It's two weeks from our wedding and NO ONE informed us that our photographers had changed. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the wedding coordinators at this resort. I still haven't heard from our on-site coordinator and we leave in less than two weeks...

  16. My fiancé and I are going through this now. We invited 30 and 8 are coming. It's pretty disappointing as our close friends aren't going to be able to attend even though they said they would. My fiancé even travelled across Canada to be a part of their wedding but what can you do? Silly, I know they felt bad because they only confirmed they couldn't make it one month before the wedding. None of my family can make it due to health problems/finances either.

I know I will have fun on the day but I kind of wish our core people were there. Get ready for the disappointment but you will still have a great time I'm sure.

  17. Hi all,

I have been reading this forum post for a while but it's my first post. I getting married at Moon Palace in three weeks. I was transferred to the onsite wedding coordinator a week ago but have yet to have a single email from her. I just had confirmation that I was with a new person. Our onsite person's name is Josephine. Has anyone had her? I've sent her two email asking about changes to our wedding ceremony as we want to add something and when to book an appointment with her upon arrival but so far nothing. It's really starting to worry me and I don't know what to do.
