  1. Hello everyone.

I have been VERY interested in having a wedding at Azul beach ever since my fiancee and I started talking about engagement and marriage. However, the things that make me very nervous are the outside vendor fees as well as the difficulty everyone seems to have with the wedding coordinators. I have been going back and forth between Jamaica, Mexico (at Azul Beach, of course) and the Bahamas? Any suggestions from former and currently planning azul brides?

    Thanks everyone :)

    Hi there!

My wedding is 4 months out and yes, the vendor fees are ridiculous and I'm on my 4th wedding coordinator/designer. However, it seems that no matter what hotel you choose, there will always be something. The hotel itself is gorgeous and honestly, everyone I know that's done destination says the same thing: the planning is a nightmare, but once you're there, it's beautiful and the point it to have a good time, everything will work itself out.

I'm definitely disappointed about the lomas prices. I'm arguing right now about the gazebo linens, as paying $100 per linen (white only) is ridiculous!! It's $150 per linen in a color. They're making a ridiculous profit, it's crazy.

  2. I'm wondering where you guys are getting the groom attire? My fiance is set on wearing a suit and even though he bought a gorgeous charcoal suit, it's wool, so I don't think it will be very caribbean friendly in the middle of August. I'm looking for a linen suit but I can't find them anywhere in Calgary (we even looked last year and nothing, everything is wool). I even thought of going to a tailor and getting it made for him but that's probably going to cost as much if not more than my dress. I also saw suits in suitopia.com and indochino but I don't know if I dare to order online. What is everyone else doing?

You might want to reconsider the wool if it's 100% wool. It's actually a really lightweight material ideal for destination weddings. That's what we bought for our groomsmen, as for some reason they don't make linen pants in any color other than beige (I wanted grey) here in BC!

  3. Yeah- I've seen many brides here planning weddings with 80+ guests at azul beach and I keep wondering how!! I wonder if they haven't formally told the hotel how many guests they have and are in jeopardy of being moved?

I'm attending the BDR next weekend and plan on point blank asking the onsite coordinators when I'm there- since I'm ok with sensatori for sure... But would have liked the option of beach,

It would be nice to have the option for sure! When you're there, could you look at the different ceremony locations and post on here what they're like? I've booked to have it on the beach, but I think there might be more than one beach location. It would be nice to get some info from a bride's point of view! If you're taking pictures as well, sharing some of them would be awesome and greatly appreciated!!

  4. Has anyone else been told that with a large group (60+) Azul beach could not accommodate a wedding that size? It was my first choice until they wrote and told me that, for a wedding that large I would need to choose one of their sister resorts (we are now settled on Sensatori). I preferred the "1 wedding a day" policy at Azul Beach, and a few other aspects to the resort- so I'm a bit miffed! We would be doing private events... So this was not the concern.

Yeah, if you do some research, you'll see that Azul Beach does not accommodate large wedding groups. The other Azuls seem really nice too though.

  5. I don't think this applies to Canadian Brides- just an FYI...at least it never used to. Things may have changed, but there is a lot more legal stuff involved for Canada. (Just in case a Canadian bride is reading this since there are a ton here on BDW)

Yeah that doesn't work for Canadian brides (at least not BC ones). I'm getting legally married a couple of weeks before the Mexico wedding. I had to get in touch with a wedding commissioner and she is coming to my house. They don't do the "go to city hall and get hitched" thing like I thought! It's going to work out well because my fiancé's grandparents can't fly anymore so they will get to see us get married anyways.

With that said we are doing the symbolic ceremony in Mexico, but most definitely treating it as our real wedding with the gown and ring exchange, etc.

    Getting excited every day!

If you are getting married a year from now...how are you being awarded the bride and groom stay free promo?  I was told 20 rooms booked in order to get that.  If your wedding is still a year away you prob don't have ppl booked already? or do you?  I could definitely use that extra little perk.

I booked everything through a GIWC so that how I got a free cocktail hour.  Not sure about other ways to get that perk.

Hi thee, I'm getting married at AZ thus December and for the bride and groom free room promo, it was 10rooms booked and then 1 room free.
