  1. Here is the post to the article with all the links: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/a/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya Several of Barcelo Maya, Azul, and Iberostars but not the Iberostar Cancun ... maybe mine will be one of the first! We booked Del Sol as our photographer - the idea they will be capturing our day is the 2nd most exciting thing about my wedding day after the fact that I'm marrying my best friend! Their work is AMAZING!
  2. I looked at Moon Palace and Gran Caribe too. Azul Sensatori is a resort my travel agent frequently recommends to her brides. There are some pictures on her site: http://www.idoweddingsaway.ca/home.php With a group of 80+ people the rooms available at the convention centre of the Iberostar would be perfect! They have large rooms with glass walls overlooking the lawn and ocean in the background. Paula the wedding coordinator there has been really pleasant to deal with. I also looked at Barcelo Maya but didn't like how large the resort was and that it was on the Mayan strip, I preferred the Cancun strip (wide beanch and miles of it for people to walk!) If you search for "Del Sol Photography" on this forum they have a post with links to TONS of weddings they have photographed all over Mexico and you'll see the resorts and types of pictures/locations available at each.
  3. Hi Lastmin, I chose it for: -the proximity to the airport, -the fact that it is on the Cancun strip but has more of a resort feel than the hotels along the strip -I like the pools down the middle of the resort. It will be easier for people to find other members of our group. Too large a place and people are spread out all over, part of the fun of the week is family spending time together - I liked the location options, we're doing ceremony on the grass (big lawn overlooking the beach), cocktail on miramar Terrace near ceremony site and outdoors overlooking the ocean and reserved a whole restaurant for our reception (not included in package, $1000 extra) because the 1.5 hours semi-private in the package wasn't of interest - I found the package inclusions and pricing were reasonable. - there is only one wedding per day so we have the Coordinators full attention - room size and guaranteed ocean view were a major plus for guests - majority of reviews and pictures on Tripadvisor are positive and appealing Hope that helps! Which resorts are you deciding between?
  4. Hello Iberostar Cancun Brides! I got an email from the new wedding coordinator, her name is Paula Mijares. The email address for her is the same: [email protected] Glad the have someone in place and she seems great from the few emails we've exchanged so far. Happy planning to all
  5. Hi Ladies, My travel agent is Pamela Park-Walker, a destination wedding specialist at Tier One travel. Her website is www.idoweddingsaway.ca She has been very helpful and down to earth, replies quickly and has lots of experience. When picking an agent I also death with Victoria at Crystal Water Weddings. Www.crystalwaterweddings.com She was a close 2nd pick that I also recommend. In the end it comes down to picking someone you click with and I clicked better with Pam and could see myself working with her for the year as we planned our wedding and booked group travel. I found my dress at Deza's Bridal on Country Hills Blvd near Coventry Hills. It's a small shop with beautiful European brand dresses. If you like the big bridal store feel and selection this is not the place for you. If you like tailored service focused on you with a medium sized selection of beautiful dresses then check her out. Deza is an old-school European bridal seamstress with years of experience and a no-fuss attitude. I found my dress on the discount rack - Dimitrious Illusions dress regular price $1785 on sale for $650. Deza will do the alterations in store herself. My alterations will cost $300 because I am bringing it in from a size 12 to a size 6, putting in padding for the "girls" and adding a loop to be able to hook up the dress to dance. $1030 tax and alterations included for the perfect dress made me and my FI very happy!!
  6. Hi Soon2BMrs - did you make your decision yet? I went back and forth between the resorts too and finally decided on the Iberostar Cancun (IC). I went to the Dreams Puerto Vallarta in January 2013 and really enjoyed it, especially the food, so I was drawn to the Dreams chain. The Dreams Cancun wedding location on the bluff overlooking the ocean was also a big draw as it is so picturesque. In the end though, the deciding factor for me was that I didn't like the lagoon (looked like murky water) and dolphin attraction at the resort. The dolphin place is open to the public so the idea of people coming and going all day around the resort, even on my wedding day, was unappealing. There have been several amazing looking weddings at Dreams though so the basis for my decision may be flawed but that was my train of thought. What convinced me to go with Iberostar was the layout of the resort and the fact that they have a large raised up lawn location to have an outdoor ceremony without having to be on the beach. The resort has the look and feel of a big resort like on the Mayan strip but all the activity is contained to the front of the resort rather than sprawled out. I will be able to locate my wedding guests easily as they will either be around the 7 pools down the middle of the resort or on the beach. Feedback on Trip Advisor about IC was also really good. I hope that helped!
  7. Hello Brides! There must be more Iberostar Cancun brides on here than I've been able to find?! I keep searching for others and waiting for info, details, posts, threads to pop up so I can get some details, some insight as I plan my wedding at the resort in March 2014 but they don't come ... so I realized, why don't I start one?! "Build it and they will come" as the old saying goes. If you are a past/future Iberostar Cancun bride post here and let's help each other plan beautiful weddings Best of luck and congratulations!
  8. Does anyone know if a beach bonfire is available at Iberostar Cancun? I would like to do a beach party/bonfire for my guests one night under the moonlight - something different and memorable for them
  9. Yes! I'm booked in for March 2014. How is your planning going? I got an email from Rosy the Wedding Planner yesterday. She is leaving Iberostar and a new planner should be in place soon.
  10. Yes! My wedding is booked for March 2014. How has your planning experience been with Rosy? Just over a month to go before yours, how exciting!
