  1. @@DestinationDelgado we are also doing the always and forever package, and it includes quite a bit. Surely it includes a gazebo too. I'm getting married on skydeck and definitely not paying extra for the gazebo there. I would log in to your wedding builder and click package and it will list everything, your WC is a great resource too :) Happy planning!

Anyone know how many bolts of fabric do I need for Sky Deck gazebo sheers??? Thank you!!

I used 4 bolts of 60 inch x 25 yard organza for the Sky Deck gazebo. This was taken the morning of my wedding after the decorations were completed.

  2. One thing I will mention with the rain. I didn't realize but if you look at the weather the morning of the wedding and decide to have it outdoors....and then it rains... If the DJ is set up already -they send your group to a restaurant and try to get you as together as they can. But the DJ goes home. No refund. LUCKILY for us the DJ didn't set up yet. At that point I was just kinda like "whatever it will all work out ". You cant control the weather. And to be honest it probably worked out better in the AC. I think there was a lot more dancing that way. They called for 50% chance of rain but 71% humidity for our ceremony time (3pm). And about 4pm the storm came in and lasted awhile

It was raining in the morning of my wedding and we decided to move the reception indoors to the large ballroom instead of Plaza Zavos. It was the best decision ever! They were able to move all of my decorations and, while not as nice as the Plaza, my guests were very, very happy with the AC. Glad your's worked out also. Congratulations!
  3. Our Mexico wedding isn't until May 14th but we got married in the ICU in NJ right before my husbands father passed and had another ceremony for his Mom, who is terminally ill with Cancer and, sadly won't be in attendance in Mexico.

Have any of you ladies seen, done, or plan do do any type of memorial at your wedding? I was thinking an empty seat with flowers? Does anyone have any better ideas? I don't know what, if anything would be appropriate :,(

Both his parents and mine have passed away. We used custom engraved memorial candles as part of our Sand Ceremony as a way to have them present symbolically. The AS wedding planner had the candles lit and moved to the entry table for the reception. You can get the engraved candle holders at Weddingstar.com.

  4. Look at Pixan Photography. Owner is Vincent. I did endlesssssss tedious months of research amd he came out on top on all catgegories important to me 1) making me look as beautiful as possible 2)capturing a story/moment w every pic 3) communication needed to be prompt 4) most bang for my buck. Will PM you some other info. Here are a few of my fav shots..

Because he was an outside vendor, AS did charge me the $800 vendor fee. And i would have paid more if they wanted to for him. He and his staff were easy to work with, easy to communicate with and he is just so darn sweet. attachicon.gifDSC05489.jpg attachicon.gif_MG_0334.jpgattachicon.gif

Zocalo is actually a beatiful location. It can be done very tastefully w minimal decorations. Maybe just candles..plus that is where they cook a majority of the good for events so yours would be freshest and hot. The pics online dont do it justice. But its cery authentic and clean. Everywhere at AS is perfect

We had cocktails after the wedding on the Sky Terrace and before the reception on Zocalo Al Fresco. It was beautiful. The bright colors made a great backdrop for the pictures. Plus, it is just a few steps from the beach and one of the swimming pools. I believe you will like it.

Awesome video ladies! Thanks for sharing :)

I have a logistics question on which someone will be able to advise...our ceremony is at 5pm on the Sky Deck. We then have our reception at 7pm in the ballroom (I'd hope we can move this time if needed). How do we fill the gap from the end of the ceremony to the beginning of the reception? We're a group of drinkers - so naturally, we'l like to do some type of cocktail. Any advice on if it's worth scheduling a 2 hour cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception or if it would be better to just have guests go to one of the bars for a quick drink or two before entering the ballroom for the reception?

Unfortunately, we've never been to the resort so are struggling to conceptualize how to move everyone/how to keep everyone entertained so that there is no downtime.

    Any ideas? Thanks!!

We had our wedding (June 6, 2015) on the Sky Deck at 5pm and then used my 'free' dinner to have a one hour cocktail party on Zocalo Terrace ( not sure if that's the right name but it's the porch of the Mexican restaurant). We had planned to have the reception at Zavas Plaza but it had rained earlier and was very hot and humid. We moved the reception to the ballroom at 7pm and everyone was very happy to dance in air conditioning! Hope this helps.

  6. Hello brides! I asked for a floor plan of Plaza Zavas yesterday. I was told that i could discuss that with my onsite coordinator. That's wonderful but do any of you have one? I have my table seating assisgnents but i would like to know where tables 1 thru 12 are in relation to where i am sitting. I cant help but feel they don't "disclose" any information. Its like pulling teeh

You can find the dimensions of Zavas Plaza on the BDW Official Azul Sensatori Thread. You can draw out a table arrangement with the table numbers and take it with you in June.  You will have a planning meeting with the on site coordinator a day or 2 before the wedding.  They handle all details and are very cooperative and efficient.  I believe the person you spoke with was trying to tell you to give your table arrangements and numbers to the on site wedding coordinator during your planning meeting.  She/he/they will make sure the tables are set up however you want them.  It is hard sometimes to communicate with Miami but once you get to AS, everything will be taken care of.

  7. Hi, My wedding is fast approaching and was wondering if anyone can help me locate white sheers for the gazebo on the Sky deck. I think the hire price for sheers is insane $1200! What material do people use?

I was married on the Sky Deck last June and purchased 4 rolls of 60 inch by 25 yard sheer organza ( 2 red and 2 ivory) from Amazon.  It was more than enough.  I'm not sure if they still have the type and color but I highly recommend searching Amazon.  I think the most expensive sheer organza is about $25-35/roll.  Plus it is very light and fits easily into a suitcase.

  8. Hey Ladies-

We have finally booked our wedding at Azul Sensatori - reading this blog has been an absolute savior!

But, I still have a few questions I'm hoping you brides/brides to be may be able to answer...

    1) Do we need to supply nails, tacks, cable ties, etc to hang fabric and other decor from the Gazebo at the sky wedding?

    2) For the Sky Wedding, do you have to request to have your Cocktail hour there after the ceremony or is that included /is there an additional cost?

    3) Anyone who has had their reception in the ballroom - did you decorate the ceiling with some type of fabric?  If so, did you get it from the hotel/lomas?  What was the cost?

    4) Has anyone had 'uplighting'?  If so, is there a cost guide for it anyone can share?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. You only need to supply the fabric and other decor. The hotel will do the rest. I purchased the large bouquets for the gazebo.

    2. We had a champagne toast on the Sky Deck but could not have the Cocktail hour there because they do not have a way to bring food up there. We had our cocktail hour on Zocalo Terrace.

    3. We had our reception in the ballroom and brought Christmas lights and lighted paper lanterns for the ceiling. The cost for all of the sent up including ceremony, cocktail hour and reception was $250 cash. They do not accept credit cards or checks for the set up fee since they use the cash to pay the workers directly.

    4. Not sure I understand what up lighting is but it the hotel has to provide it, they will likely charge for it.

Here are pictures of my decor for the Sky Deck and ballroom.

  9. Hi gals! We are getting married at Azul Sensatori in September.

We are on a super tight budget so I am going crazy trying to find ways to cut costs at Sensatori. The prices they charge for the add-ons  are outrageous!

I have a million questions but I'd like to start asking what you have done for centerpieces and decorations! I am concerned about  how heavy they will be and customs restrictions.

I am also worried about the bouquets.

Any ideas or pictures to share?

For my tables, I bought maracas (Amois.com), personalized shot glasses (discountmugs.com), chair sashes (tableclothfactory.com), and sparkly red votive candles (Pier 1 after Christmas sale).  I ordered centerpiece flowers and rose petals from Karisma.  Even after buying fresh flowers, the cost a fraction of the price I would have paid if I had gone with one of the decoration packages.  I have heard of brides who bought silk flowers for their bouquets but I wanted real roses.  As long as you don't need something special or exotic, the resort does a nice job. I'm having trouble uploading pictures today but will send some soon.

  10. Thats who we are going to go with, Caribe. But I feel like I have seen nothing but negative reviews. Were you happy with your photos? Did you get a video as well? I am so nervous!

Thanks so much for that information! We have about 6 kids coming so I hope they work with me as well!

Thanks Kendra! That does help! I thought about doing like a DIY Candy Bar, but then I wasn't too sure. It's so hard to make final decisions in all this!

    I appreciate everyones help!

Does anyone have templates for luggage tags? I want to order the plastic tags and ties to save money but can't find a decent template anywhere! Or know where I can create and purchase luggae tag inserts!

. I created my own inserts using a business card format from Vistaprint. It was really simple and fairly cheap. The hard part was finding the luggage tags.

Yes. I was happy with the photos and very happy with the turn around time. A friend recommended that I pay extra for a second photographer but I chose to have one for a longer time. However, one of my friends also provided a lot of really nice photos. No, I did not do video.

  11. @@Jennypert Where did you find your maracas? I'm looking to get maracas for my welcome party and reception.

I got the maracas from Amois.com and find them by going through Amazon.

I love the photo of you and your husband on the sky deck! Do you mind me asking who your photographer was? I am so back and forth about photography given that Azul only lets you choose from two without a vendor fee!

I used Caribe Photo. But, based on comments I have read from others, I was lucky to get Denise as the photographer. She was very knowledgeable about the best locations for shots around the resort. Here are a couple of my favorites.

  12. Hi @@Jennypert

Your wedding looks awesome. Thank you for sharing your photos and advice.

Can you provide advice on photography service and DJ service?

Thank you and congratulations on your nuptials. I hope you are enjoying the married life  :)

    -Yesica

    Hi Yesica,

We used Mega DJ and Caribe Photo. Both are approved Karissma vendors. Mega DJ was Fabulous! They sent a play list before the wedding and we selected First Dance, Wedding Party Intro, etc. plus about 50-60 other songs. I am not sure if they played all of the songs but every time the dancing slowed down, they played something that got everyone up and moving. They provided balloons, bubbles and fancy lights. So much fun! We selected them because they were cheaper than DJ AllMusic and we did not need MC services. I don't know how anyone could have done better.

We had the 6 hour, one photographer package from Caribe Photo. Denise was our photographer and I thought she did a fine job. She took some really nice shots plus we had our prints, 2 photo albums, and 2 DVDs of all shots ready for us to pick up 5 days after the wedding.

I know some brides get really excited about using outside DJs and photographers but we were very pleased with the approved vendors and very happy to not pay the $800 outside vendor fee.

Married life has been really nice. We had been living together for a few years. And I did not think having a ceremony would make much difference but our life is even better now.

    Jenny

  13. I'm just being nosey, never seen such a thing, I just assumed it was it's old building or maybe above the lobby!

It looks beautiful and a ceremony plus cocktail up there would be awesome - yay!

We offered a cocktail before the ceremony and a champagne toast after on the Sky Deck. It was fabulous! The view is awesome. Plus, I didn't have to worry about sand in my shoes if we had married on the beach. The pre-ceremony drinks, ceremony and champagne toasts took about an hour. Then, everyone moved to Zocola Terrace for cocktails and appetizers while my husband and I took pictures on the beach and around the resort. By the time we got to the reception, everyone was very, very relaxed and happy!post-267894-0-76064500-1424359844_thumb.jpg

  14. We used our rehearsal dinner as a brunch and held it at Zavas. Not sure if that was why we were allowed to hold it elsewhere (since it was not dinner??).

@Jennypert- Could I please use the 2 photos of the ballroom in the official thread? It is one of the few photos I have seen of the ballroom decorated.

    Hi Murmel,

Yes, of course you can use the photos. I've added a couple others showing the decorated Sky Deck a couple of hours before my wedding. I was told I was one of very few brides who used a red and white color scheme. I thought it was beautiful. Maybe it will inspire others to use red. It really pops against the white gazebo and blue sky and ocean.

  15. Hey Ladies-

I am contemplating booking Azul Sensatori - I have read nothing but amazing reviews - so close to pulling the trigger.

I want a reception indoors so as not to have to deal with the heat.  Is the ballroom in bad shape?  Has anyone been there recently to provide an honest review?  Any thoughts on reconsidering if the wedding will be in Oct/Nov for moving outdoors?

Also, in a lot of the videos, we noticed a ton of wind on the Sky Deck - is it always bad/as bad as it sounds in some of the videos?

    Thanks in advance!

I was married on the Sky Deck and had my reception in the Grand Ballroom on June 6, 2014. It was fairly windy and at one point, I thought my veil was going to fly away. My sister (maid of honor) stepped up close behind and held it down. None of the hurst noticed but told me later they were grateful for the breeze since it was very hot and humid. The day before the wedding we changed the reception from Plaza Zavas to the Grand Ballroom. It had been raining and was very hot and humid. There was also rain in the forecast so we decided not to take a chance. We were very happy with our decision. The wedding coordinators took all of my decoration and moved it to the Ballroom. They strung the lights and lanterns from the ceiling and it was beautiful. Plus, we had a truly private space in a cool, air conditioned room. My guests danced and danced some more. They said it was the best party ever. Here are a few photos of the ballroom plus one of us during the ceremony.

  16. Hello ladies.

I had a question in regards to rooms. Those of you that have been there, what room would you recommend for my FI and I? A lot of people mentioned they got a free upgrade once they arrived. I didn't know if I should go less expensive (so we can put money toward other parts of the wedding) and plan on that or just go with a room in the adults only section. Also, my travel agent told me that in order to go in the adults only section you have to stay in that section. Do any of you know if that is true? I though you could go anywhere except the premiere section. That was a big reason we picked this resort. Any help would be great. Thanks! ~Laura

We were married in June 2014 and had a swim up room in the premium section. It was fabulous! We really enjoyed the checkin with the pillow menu and aromatherapy selections. Most of our free time was spent relaxing in the private jacuzzi next to the swimming pool. However, don't count on getting a free upgrade. A couple of my guests got one but it all depends on what is available when you checkin.

  17. Hi ladies! Just wanted some advice...I wanted to sing a sweet song to my hubby -to -be at our wedding...I wanted to do a sky wedding with reception at zavaz. I originally wanted to sing it walking up the aisle for our ceremony but wasn't sure if the acoustics at the sky deck would be adequate with all the wind? Not sure if there is a good sounds system up there?

Or if not, maybe right before our first dance? We would walk in and I start to sing to him...

Thanks for you all your help !!

That's such a sweet idea! I was married on the Sky Deck in June. It was quite windy and it kept blowing my veil around. But, there is a very good sound system with microphones. The on site wedding coordinator hooked up my iPod to the sound system and played the music we had programmed for the Gathering, Groom and Bridesmaid entrance, Bride's entrance, etc. I could hear the music very well while I waited in the stair well for my entrance. The music was definitely loud enough during the sand ceremony and I could hear our vows very clearly on the videotape. So, yes, the acoustics are fine.

  18. Does anyone have recommendations on DJs? Not sure what my options are under the approved Lomas list. Did you have options? I definitely want someone who will help get the party started, I also would like to give a list of certain songs we would definitely like played.

    Any pointers?

We used Mega DJ and they were great. They are $500 less than DJ AllMusic, the other approved DJ. They provided a list of hundreds of sings and we selected about 40-50. I don't know if they played all of them but my guests danced all night and were very happy. One of my friends acted as MC and I would highly recommend having someone you know be the MC.

  19. My wedding was last Friday and we had a blast! Enjoying my last day here with hubby. I can't wait to post my review. Everything was wonderful. All my requests were fulfilled. All my guests were happy and hated they had to leave. I couldn't be any happier. I also saw @msaurez who got married on Saturday and she and her husband were happy too.

Congratulations! Enjoy your last day. Please post some pictures when you get back and have a chance to unwind.

  20. @@lolita2014, congrats! you will have to give me all the details! so I know you told me in earlier post about the sheer. So you just bought what you posted and gave it to the hotel and they cut it and placed on the gazebo? Did you have to tell them how to place it? Was that enough sheer? I'm debating to bring the sheer or just rent it from hotel to save hassle, but based on your post I would be saving lots of money if I brought the sheer myself. How much did they charge you for decorations?

I was married at AS on June 6th on the Sky deck. I ordered 2 bolts of 60 inch by 25 yards of red organza and 1 bolt of ivory from Amazon (sold by BB Crafts) for about $20 each. I gave them to the wedding coordinator, told them how I wanted it set up on the gazebo and they did the rest. If you are getting married on the beach then you probably only need 1 or 2 bolts. My total charge for set up was $250. That included the ceremony set up with flowers, sheers and sand ceremony, table decorations and favors for the reception and setting out my cocktail napkins for the Welcome cocktail party and the after ceremony cocktail party. I ordered 2 hanging corsages for the ceremony, the BC-08 centerpieces for 6 tables and real rose petals for sprinkling on the tables. After the ceremony, they moved the flowers to the table by the entrance with the escort cards which they arranged in a sandbox they provided. I had 40 guests and felt everything was beautiful. We had a wonderful time.

The on site coordinators set up weddings everyday and are expert professionals.

  21. @@lolita2014. I asked about a dance floor at the large ballroom and was told it was not available. However, the carpet is low nap and quite smooth. We had no trouble at all dancing on it. We had practiced a foxtrot with a little salsa added. No problems at all. My guests like to dance and after dinner, there was hardly a song played without at least a few dancers.

Here are a couple of pictures of the ceremony. I should have a couple of the reception tomorrow.

  22. Hi Everyone,

Just got married at Azul Sensatori on Friday. It was Fabulous! The weather was hot, rainy and humid but we had a great time. We had a Welcome Cocktail party on Thursday which was supposed to be on Zocalo Al Fresco but was set up on Zocalo Terrace due to a mis-communication with our Wedding Coordinator, Omar.

The on-site wedding coordinators, Omar, Antonio and Victoria are excellent. They work very hard with each bride to make their wedding events special.

It started raining during the Welcome Cocktail Party. Since Zocalo Terrace is outside next to the pool, the party was cut short. Since the weather was forecast for more rain on Friday, we asked Omar if we could move from Zavas Plaza to the large ballroom. It was a great decision. Omar and his staff hung up our Xmas lights and paper lanterns from the ceiling and made a beautiful 'starry' night inside, in the air conditioning.

@ Lolita2014 - during the June rainy season, the ballroom is definitely the best place for the reception. My 40 guests were able to eat, dance and party for four hours in privacy and comfort.

Back to the ceremony. We had it on the Sky Deck and it was spectacular! The clouds cleared up for a few hours just in time us. I only have a couple of pictures to post in the gallery but will post more when we get back from our honeymoon.

My guests had a fantastic stay at Azul Sensatori. They raved about the food at all of the restaurant, the service and swimming pools. The music from Mega DJ kept the reception party moving and dancing. The BBQ deluxe was an enormous amount of really good food. There was enough variety of exceptionally good food to satisfy everyone. The wedding cake was delicious! We had 3 layers with the bottom in chocolate, middle section in vanilla rum, top section in carrot cake and covered in butter cream. I thought we would have leftovers but people went back for seconds and thirds. Before I knew it, there was only a small piece left.

I will post a full review later but wanted everyone to know we had a great time. I want to give a special thank you to Angeles in the Spa who did my hair and makeup, Marcel from the Spa who trimmed my husband's hair and beard. I also want to thank Erika who acted as my personal assistant on my wedding day.
