Oh great, I did ask if it was possible to have my hair started at about 7.30 so thats good to hear.....seems like there is plenty of time to fit everything in.

Did you do anything inbetween your ceremony and reception? I was thinking of having a buffet lunch instead of a cocktail hour as the buffet would all be included in the "all inclusive" and it would keep the group together for an hour or two before going our own ways until our reception dinner about 7.30pm.

I would appreciate any words of advice.

    Thank you

    11am Fountain Ceremony

    Dinner: 4 course @Castaways +cake!

So we had our wedding on April 24th and everything was amazing!!!!  I went to Mexico not having a reception dinner booked in, but it all worked out.  My wedding planner, who came with us, calmed my nerves and made sure the day went smoothly.  Highly recommend him: www.weddingbutlers.com  He has done many weddings at Now Jade so it was great that he knew Deisy and what we could push for and what we could get.  Wedding Butlers also upgraded our room to the Preferred Club, so nice!  There was a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we checked in.

We had an early start on the day of the wedding, our ceremony was at 11am.  My hair appointment was at 7:30am, she did a wonderful job!  I loved it.  My 3 bridesmaids loved theirs as as well.  We were served mimosas too!  Then back to my room with all my girls plus a couple close friends to get ready.  Derek went to his brothers room to get dressed.  I had ordered grapefruit juice, orange juice, champagne, fruit, bagels, yogurt and cereal for everyone to snack on/drink.  This was a great idea because people tend to forget to eat!

Derek and I wanted to do 'first look' photos, suggested by my AMAZING photographer!  Such a good idea.  So off I went to do that.  I am soooo glad we chose to do this.  Derek and I had such a special, private moment, caught on camera.  I cry when I look at the photos! ha!  If anyone is looking for a photographer, I can't say enough good things about Aaron Dieppa.  He is based in California but goes all over for destination weddings.  He was by far the BEST decision I made www.aarondieppa.com

Time to walk down the aisle!  Sound system was great.  We gave Deisy our ipod with the songs to be played in what order.  The aisle was a little narrow but that's quite minor.  My aunt used to be a minister so she preformed our symbolic ceremony.  It was wonderful, very personal.  After the ceremony we did have champagne served, don't know if that was worth the money.  We could have just made the 10 extra steps and ordered it from the bar....for free...haha.  Oh well.

Time for pictures,  we did wedding party pictures, group shots and had a few of just us.  Then we just told everyone to meet at the lobby bar at 7pm right before dinner, and then Deisy would escort us over.  Most people got into their swimming suites and went to the pool, while Derek and I went for a nap!  We needed it.  After our little siesta, time for more pictures.  LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!!!  I love them all!  I'm sure every bride is in love with their pictures.  But I think I'm extra in love.  Aaron captured really great moments of us just being us.  And then time for dinner!

We were able to book in Castaways with a view of the ocean for our reception dinner.  It was amazing, all of our guests loved the dinner.  They were also flexible for a few fussy eaters.  The servers were fantastic, no one ever was close to having an empty drink and Derek loved the tuna so much he asked for more and they brought some more out! haha  Our wedding party had some speeches and toasts, we had some cake and headed to the Beach Bar to keep the party going!

Flowers!!!! How could I forget!?  Probably because I didn't have to worry about them!  My mom is a florist.  She went to Mexico 1 week before we arrived to find flowers! (and to vacation)  She went to Costco in Cancun and got most of them there!!!  She also was able to order some through the hotel.  Her room looked like a flower shop!  She had the A/C on high to keep the flowers as fresh as possible.  My dad was quite cold haha!  I'm not the least bit surprise the flowers turned out so beautiful!

So much fun!  So exhausted! So worth it!  I am now married to the love of my life!  After all, that is what it comes down to!  My advice is to be as flexible as possible, there is a lot of stress and things to deal with in planning a wedding, I totally get it.  But you're in Mexico!  Enjoy it!  It is going to be soooo wonderful!

    Hair!  Love it!

Totally Amazing!!!! stunning pictures, you look gorgeous! you have completely put my mind at ease about everything including the early start and everything else.

I am going with an open mind and flexibility and have decided apart from a few exceptions most of the day will be planned during the meeting with Pilar. I have a budget in mind and I have more than enough confidence in her to pull off a beautiful day.

You said that you went for a little sleep after your ceremony, Can I assume that you put your dress back on for the evening reception? Thats a really good idea, I can not imagine staying in my dress ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT lol.

You all looked completely relaxed whilst you were getting ready.

    CONGRATULATIONS

This really is my main worry....we get married at 11am... how will i possibly have enough time to get my hair and make up done AND spend time getting ready with my bridemaids and family without feeling RUSHED :-(  I hope the spa staff start work early, like 5am'ish LOL.

If there are any brides who have also got married at 11am and managed to fit it all in nicely I would like to hear from you :-) or any brides getting married at the same time, how is your morning planned?

As for the cocktail hour, we had originally asked for just hour devours also, but my travel agent talked me out of it all together (she knew we didn't want to spend the extra money and i just wanted to make sure everything flowed smoothly and we didn't lose any guests between the reception and dinner).  I am just going to make a event timeline for that day and have everyone meet at the bar while we take pictures, i'm sure it will work out perfectly and it saved me $800.

Now I'm going to try and relax since there is only 2 months to go and we decided this would be a good time to buy and sell a house, are we nuts or what???? Anyways, thanks for the response, I hope you're day is perfect as I'm sure it will be!!

Yea I did notice the 22usd in the brochure! we are still in two minds about the hor devoures also because if we have lunch at the buffett im not sure we need to.

What time are you getting married?  i was worried i would lose my guests whilst pics were being taken but maybe not if they know lunch is booked lol

not long for you now...how exciting :-)

Anything that is considered 'set-up' (i.e. the $500 fee for the private dinner in my case because i have your moments; ceremony setup; etc..) is not taxed, neither is the Judge Transportation, Apostille (if your ceremony is legal) and Blood tests.  Otherwise on my contract as of now, everything else is taxed. We aren't having too many extras, so others may know more! :)

Thank you for this information. As long as it is not on the total bill then lol!! We have the moments package too and for us the most important part was the amount of photo's we take home with us so most of our budget will go towards the photagrapher. I personally am camera shy so there is not many pics of me and my partner in our house so after losing 3 stone I want to make sure we have some pretty good pics to remember our day.

We started out with lots of extras but after re-looking at our plan we have eliminated lots of things to fit within our budget so we are not having too many extras either.  I was going to have bouquets for my bridesmaids but we have deiced that it is an expense we dont really need so my girls will have simple feather fans.

At the cocktail hour we will only pay for the appetizers and not the cocktails (we are all inclusive so I dont see the point)

Lunch we will have a part sectioned off at the buffett and as we are having a reception at home we are not spending money on a DJ and table set ups and centre pieces etc. and thats why we opted for a semi private reception.

We are having a non-private dinner in one of the restaurants but because there is 21 of us I am assuming we get charged 20usd per person for the set up fee? we have asked if we could pay the 500usd to move this to the private terrace of the restaurant to make it a little more personal and give us the opportunity to play our own music because you are obviously not allowed to in the restaurant out of respect to other diners.

I just hope Pilar can still pull off a special day for us :-)

Thanks Remykion, I am trying to find a way to have my mom there. We are waiting to see what my sisters doctor says regarding her flying. We decided to not cancel and have the wedding because I know I will regret it if we don't. We just realized we will make the best of it with who is there. Btw it is soo exciting we will both be getting married the same day!! Where are you having the ceremony?

I am sure it will all work out for you.  I hope your sister's doctor gives her the go ahead to be able to fly....I know my sister not being there has hurt me the most but I do understand when they have to teenage sons aswell as themselves to cater fo

I have just spoken to perfect weddings abroad and although they have not given me a definate answer one of the ladys seems to think it wont be a problem to extend the final due payment date for a month or 2 but I am just awaiting the call of confirmation (fingers crossed) i just want to know so that I can put my guests minds at rest.

We are marrying on the beach at 11am ......you at the pergola???

we can meet up and have a glass of champers together lol. What day do you arrive?

Our wedding is November 1st and in the past month my sister (who is also my maid of honor) told me she is pregnant and will be over 6 months at the time of the wedding meaning she cannot travel. My FI cousin's (who is his best man) wife is pregnant and will be due a week after the wedding so they cannot go. My mother told me she cannot go due to finances and also my aunt will not be able to go due to being on chemo. I have lost my excitement for the wedding due to all of the cancellations and I cannot imagine having my wedding with the above people not there. I booked through Teresa from Vacations for less. I blocked 10 rooms for $1000. only 3 people put deposits down so far. Does anyone know IF we were to cancel how would we do so and would the guests who booked lose their money? I would feel horrible if they did which is why I don't know what to do. I also paid in full for the photographers room since we are flying him here. My fiance did say if we canceled that we would still go to Secrets Maroma for our honeymoon and maybe we could use the $1000 that we already put down for the room block. I don't know what to do :(

    Hi Michelle,

I too get married on the 1st of November and if it is any consolation I am one of 6 and I only have 1 brother coming, my sister (my only sister) is not coming either due to finances! i was totally gutted but always new that quite possibly loved ones would not be able to attend for one reason or another.

Are you sure your sister can not fly my best friend has just come back from Canada flying from Birmingham and she is due her baby in 4-5 weeks?

My only concern for you is your mom, i too would be very upset if my mom or dad was not there and that was the only reason we decided we would ever cancel if our parents couldnt be there...just a thought maybe the ones that are dropping out could help your mom out?

Our best man told us last night that he doesnt think he can get the funds together for 29th June which is when the balance is due, which we are also upset about so i have had to email my wedding co-ordianator today to ask for extra time, I hope they can because I do think that them requiring the full payment 17 weeks prior is abit much i always thought it was 10 weeks before, but hey ho it is what it is.

If our best man can not come then we have decided that our 7 year old son will step up to the mark and be his daddy's best man :-)

wwe have lots of family and friends that are unable to attend so we will be having a reception on our return so at least I can wear my dress all over again :-)

I truly hope you can sort things out and you can still have your special day on the 1st November :-)

    Hi All

We just got back from our amazing wedding and honeymoon.  We were at Now Jade with 50 for our wedding, then a week at Secrets Silversands for our honeymoon.

First things first - Pilar is amazing.  I didnt worry about the little details before we left, just sent her the planning book.  Once I sat down with her (2 days before the wedding), everything was worked out.  They have all the vendors at their fingertips, so it is very easy to plan it all and add any extras while you are there.  She is calm, kind and very, very organized.  She works like a slave from early in the morning to late at night making sure every detail of every couples day is taken care of.  Don't stress on the reply time, it will all be OK - I swear.

I was most worried about my hair and the photography (Adventure).  They were both amazing.  I have humidity sensitive hair and some how they gave me exactly the look I wanted (showed a pic) and it didnt move until I pried it apart.  It was stunning.  The photography was OUTSTANDING.  I was so worried when I opted not to pay the prices for an offsite photographer - but I was very pleasantly surprised.  Veronica stayed with us all day and night and took some of the most amazing photographs I have ever seen.  She is kind, passionate and very talented.

The food was very good.  We had smoked salmon, lobster bisque, filet and shrimp and creme brulee.  I have celiac - and they prepared all of my dishes properly without me asking - actually all of those with allergies were taken care of with the same care.  Our group was comprised of many foodies and they all felt the lobster bisque was one of the best they ever had.  We had the cheesecake (without crust) for the wedding cake - it was so good that after Jeff fed me some I went for seconds.

We had an MC (a groomsman) who helped the night flow flawlessly - even though we opted not to have a DJ.  We prepared playlists - and literally nobody sat down the entire time - just dancing and having a blast.

The one concern I had was about how the resort washes their glasses at the bars.  It is unsanitary, and I believe that those in our group who became ill did so because of that.  It is common in  Mexico that they use bins to wash bar side - but normally a scrub, a sanitizing and a rinse - here they just scrubbed.  Order the mugs or cups and use them.  This is my only advice to avoid.

The hardest part of the week was A. Making sure everyone had the room they wanted and B. Making sure we spent enough time with each group of guests.  This was a little challenging, but made the honeymoon that much better!

Enjoy.  It was everything I ever dreamed about and more!!

Absolutely Gorgeous! your dress is stunning and the colours are amazing!  We are having the moments package and tailor making it to how we want it and to our budget and we decided to go with the resort photographer (adventure) so really pleased your feedback was positive and your pictures look beautiful.

we always take our own glasses wherever we travel so will be definetly packing them in the suitcases this year.

I am pretty much the same as you and not worrying about the little things, I am just going to get there and give Pilar my ideas, thoughts and leave it all in her capable hands.

I got some great responses from Pilar by numbering my questions. Also if you ask one small uncomplicated question for each number it helps. I noticed the questions that were more complicated or that had more than one part didn't get answered as well. Hope that helps a little with the communication.

Also to everyone, I know the Trip Advisor reviews haven't been great lately but if you want a little reassurance the Monarc.ca (Canadian review site) reviews have still been pretty consistent (only one or two not so good). The link is here: http://www.monarc.ca/hotel-reviews/Mexico/Riviera_Maya/hotel-9267-Now_Jade_Riviera.html#.UYAqXJXqJNU

Thank you for this, I have had a look at the review and it is much better than tripadvisor of late......I have come to the conclusion that some people cant help themselves and just like to omplain about everything.

Either way it is too late now as we have chosen this resort and it is what you make it :-)

Thank you very much, this helps and puts my mind at rest.  Hope you had a lovely time and all went well with your wedding.  Looking forward to your review

It really depends on your preference for food - my group enjoyed all of the restaurants (and we had a couple of foodies). Several of our experienced travellers were very impressed with the quality of food even from the buffet.  I think my favourite was Capers (Italian) or Spice (Asian).  We were there for 7 nights but with Welcome Dinner, Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding Dinner, and a Private dinner on beach, I didn't have a chance to try everywhere!

If you like Asian cuisine Spice is great and the terrace is private and has a very intimate atmosphere overlooking giant koi ponds.  Many of our younger guests ate here a few times since they could do do the regular menu one night and then the tappenaki tables (different menu) another night.

Menu choices here - sushi, pad thai, udon noodles, seasame chicken etc.

Mercure the French restaurant is also very good but it very decadent food so be prepared for everyone to be in a food coma by the time your are done (and service is slower, as they really play into the "French" vibe) - about 2.5 hours for our group of 6 the night we went.  This restaurant also has a terrace which overlooks the garden so that could be a very nice option for a private dinner if you went that way.

Menu choices here - filet mignon, salmon, chicken in puff pastry...probably more traditional "wedding" food.

Cin-Cin and Capers are side by side (in the same stretch of building as the buffet) and are both excellent in food, service and decor but more of my guests preferred Capers.  Downfall to either of these is no terrace for outdoor dining.

Menu: Capers does amazing osso bucco and more traditional Italian fare like stuffed pasta.

Menu: Cin-Cin has seafood (ie swordfish) and stuffed chicken.

I never made it to the Mexican restaurant but our guests that did enjoyed it.  The buffet featured Mexican cuisine regularly so I didn't feel as compelled to try it out.

    Hopefully that helps!

Oh wow! this helps so much. Thank you for the detailed breakdown, it gives me a fab insight without being there myself.

Because we get married at 11am, we have decided to do cocktail hour with hor deuvres at about 12ish (although we wont be paying for the cocktails when guests can get them at a bar)

and then I have asked for a section of the buffet restaurant to be reserved for lunch at 1pm so that we can all have a toast to celebrate and keep the group together for a an hour or 2.

then 3-6.30pm I have allowed for free time and chance for the group to freshen up

and then 7pm group dinner at one of the restaurants.  i think once I have decided which one I might suggest to my group to avoid this one for the 4 days that we are there before we get married so that it will be somehing different for us all on the day.

Once again thank you so much,, i really appreciate this information.

I would be surprised if they actually kept time to 1 hr.

    Mlite,

We have decided not to have a private reception due to budgets and that we are having a big reception on our return, however we will be making a reservation in one of the restaurants for our 21 guests, I appreciate that there is a set up fee of 20 usd per person.  as you have already been there is there any of the restaurants that you would reccommend? or is there any restaurants that you would strongly advise to steer clear of?

We would consider paying the extra fee to have this more private on the terrace of our chosen retaurant just so that we can play songs off our ipod as we wouldnt be able to do this otherwise but again this will depend on finances when the final invoice comes through.

They aren't heated but it is hot during the day so they are a refreshing temperature.  I found it may seem a bit cooler when first getting in but you quickly got used to it if most of your body was in the water.  It didn't stop us from spending hours in the water.  One note tho - the way the resort buildings are laid out means most of the pools are in shade by 5pm (so the cooler water is more noticeable)...not a big deal since most people are heading back to their rooms by then for a rest or to shower and get ready for the evening.  Also the ocean is a wonderful temperature so don't worry at all!

Thank you for this information Mlite83, some people complain about the silliest things.  In all the holiday resorts I have been to i have never heard anyone complain so much about the temperature of the pool water. of course we have experienced at times that the water is cool initially but you soon get used to it! so thank you for clearing that up for me, to hear them talk on tripadvisor it is way too cold to go in! My son will be happy :-)

Yes i purchased my dress in January, I LOVE mine too I cant wait to wear it!!  i will go back in august for a fitting so working hard on the Abs and trying to lose a few pounds lol.  Funnily enough Pilar emailed me this morning, i normally go through my wedding planner here in the UK but out of the blue she emailed me so I have sent her a detailed list of extra's and a plan of how we would like the day to pan out.

My ceremony is at 5pm at the Pergola, cocktail hour at the Mix Bar at 6pm and reception from 7-11pm at the Carnival Terrace. I am thinking of switching the reception to Castaway since we might have more than 30 people going, if so I will let you know and maybe you can book the Carnival Terrace?

    Hi Michellelepore1

How exciting!! it wont be long now.  Awww thats nice of you, yea let me know what you decide and at least I can bare that as an option.

How are your plans coming along, do you have your Dress?  I am really organised this end but as for over there I know what I want up until the cocktail hour and then im a little stumbled for the reception, I am happy to reserve a restaurant but not sure what food everyone is going to like? i am hoping Pilar will give me some inspiration on choice of restaurant (as long as we all have a group sit down meal thats fine)

Congtratulations and good luck.  Our wedding is not unil November but i am pretty plan-less at this stage.  its a long day when your getting married at 11am and difficult to try and organise the whole day.  We have the moments package which is free when you upgrade to the prefferd side so we are aiming to tailor it to our budget which is quite difficult because the costs keep adding up with flowers, additional guests, photgraphy, hair and make up, flower arches etc

The lines I am thinking are as follows:

    11am                  Ceremony on the beach

11.30am             Photos - during this time our guests will enjoy cocktail hr with appetizers

(although I am not sure if we are paying for cocktails as this is an all inclusive resort so we will pay for appetizers only)

1pm                     Lunch - I will request that we have a section of the carnival restaurant reserved for our wedding party.

3-7pm                 Free time for guests to freshen up and chill out.

7pm-9pm            Reserve a section in one of the restaurants (we may reserve the private terrace but will make this decision when we

are there)  We are having a reception on our return and as there is only 20 of us we feel that putting on a full reception is

not necessary with all the extra costs.

9pm onwards      Well the night is still young so who know?? lol

I am sure everything all plans out perfect for you but please let us know how it all goes.
