  1. So our wedding is Oct 18, 2014 and it would be very convenient to just use the Adventure Photo (resort photographer) for the whole day since I have to use them anyway for my wedding package BUT everyone's sub-par reviews makes me nervous but then I look at their website and it doesn't look so bad. Is their work that bad or do some brides just have too high of standards? I just want beautiful colors and in focus, pretty pictures that capture our day, nothing too crazy I don't think.

    What are everyone's opinions?!

Hey, I'm not a photo person so by no means have high standards in terms of photos so due to finances we decided that the most important thing to us was that our guests had a really good time, they had all put a lot of effort travelling to Mexico from the UK so we wanted to ensure that all our money went it to making it a special day for everyone and just went with the resort photographer as outside vendors were just too much money.

The photos were pretty awful nothing that my friends and family couldn't do...infact they took better pics then him! He was clueless, hadn't got an enthusiasm, no recommendations just plodded along, he was just annoying to have a round because of his lack of options. He took none of me on my own, they were all pretty much in one place and he focused more an groups then my and my husband and one point he was off taking pictures of some of my guests, like individual family shots!!! They wasn't going to be there picking the pictures and it wasn't about individual family shoots it was our wedding!!! when we went to view them we had NO problems of whittling them down from 280 to 30 they were that medioka!! Luckily I am not exactly a picture person so the ones we chose and had in the book were ok and lovely to look back on but if your priority is your photographer and you can afford to I would defiantly say go with an outside vendor

  2. Hi

I have not been on for awhile so I have a lot of catching up to do :-)

I did breifly see comments about the resort photographer......we used him because of budgets but personally I didnt think he was any good at all, infact I thought he was pretty half soaked and had no imagination, he was clueless.

We did get a few nice shots but nothing that my family members couldnt have taken, none the less I am not a photo kinda girl anyway so i am happy with some of them. I will upload some shortly so that you can see for yourselves.

    Woohoo! Have a great time!

One thing I'd like to see is all of the stuff to eat/drink in the preferred club lounge. If you can get a few pics, that'd be great. I heard the alcohol in there is higher end and you can basically make your own drinks!  :D

The drinks are higher end and you can make your own drinks :-) a very quite area. most people go to use the internet (cz the room internest sucks) and read or watch TV.

Food is ok, just snacks really - mini bagels with smoked salmon, mini puff pastries, nuts, pretzals, mini rolls with cheese and ham

    xx

  3. Seriously, what's up with all the reviews about Now Jade hiding the bacon at the buffet? Is there a bacon shortage in Mexico or something? Why's it so difficult to get bacon for breakfast?!
It is true about the bacon im afraid.....didnt bother any1 in our group but we did witness it happen, saying that everytime my husband went up they went out the back and came back with a full plate for him and not because he tipped because he didnt ☺ I dont get it though xxxx

I was very laid back and very sensible too because I knew only too well how how the costs would add up quite quickly.  I had my colour theme, I took my favours and little personal things but kept everything within the package except for a few minimal things:

I had 4 bridesmaids so i didnt add extra bouquets for them because the costs are quite pricey so i took my girls fans with hot pink personalised ribbons hanging from them, but remember if you do have bouquets use them for your centrepieces at the reception instead of ordering extra centrepieces...(i used my bouquet for one of the tables which they provided a vase at no extra cost) you cant take the bouquets home so you might aswell make good use of them.

The extras were: Play system for the reception, Runners for the tables, extra boutinerre, and the cost of moving the chairs from the ceremony to the reception, petals for my flowergirl as I bought a petal basket with me.

We left the whole planning of the reception to them and they done a wonderful job.  we were lucky because we had exactly 25 guests so we didnt need to add anything really but if you are not careful you can carried away and the costs would rocket.

The tables and the room were set up beautiful even with no real added extra touches.

    Good Luck

They have someone operating it. all you have to do is give them a playlist of what songs to play for "bridesmaids" "mothers" "groomsmen" and "bride" and they will make sure the songs are played at the correct time.

  6. I asked the same question and the WCs haven't responded. I have the Pergola reserved but I'm fearful that its not handicap accessible. Someone please help![/quote If i remember correctly i think the pergola is the only area that no stairs are involved. I think you can access it straight from the lobby and a clear flat passage way? But do get them to clarify this. Im almost certain the fountain is surronded by stairs and so would the access to the beach. Sarah

I think this is really unfair, it doesnt have to be an EXACT dollar amount but any sort of credit would be nice. I KNOW 100% i am not using the resort photographer, i dont feel like i should get nothing in return if i am not using them!! Ugh, frustrating!

I asked if I could be credited for certain things if i didnt use them and the answer was catagorily NO :-(  As it happens I was happy with everything except the photgrapher but they may just be because we only had the package deal which was for the ceremony only so maybe time was an issue.  Luckily I had lots of friends and family taking beautiful shots and we are having a reception next week with another photographer :-)

  8. Congrats on your wedding! You look beautiful! I am using Adventure Photos and have the devine package for my wedding in February. We booked them for the entire day, plus a trash the dress shoot.  Now I'm worried that we made the wrong choice! Your photos look amazing to me, but if you think they weren't very professional then maybe I should reconsider? How much extra did people have to pay to use an off site photographer? I think I am adding around 1000$ for the entire day and trash the dress. Is that worth it?
To be fair it must be really difficult to get lots of different shots in 1 hr which is all we had the photographer for (the ceremony) especially when everyone is calling him to take shots of them!!! If you are using him for the full day im sure u will get some beautiful pics the only advice i can give is make sure u have a list of shots you want. Who you want in them, certain poses, and tell him to only listen to you. He was too busy shooting my family members.....they wouldnt even be there to view and pick them so it was a complete waste of time. You will have more time so just go in prepared and you will be fine. We are partly to blame because we just expected him to tell us what to do but he just focused to long on group pictures rather than "us" so he was shooting the same shots that my friends and family was so when we went to view them i felt id already seen them on their cameras/phones. Give him list before hand for him To work to Sarah Xxx
  9. Hello everyone! I need some advice PLEASE! We are getting married in just a few months and now that our trip is paid I need to get back to wedding planning! I need some advice in terms of Castaways. We have around 40 -45 guests attending. We would like to have a sweetheart table for the 2 of us and I was wondering how many people can sit comfortably around a round table? Is there a certain area recommended for everyone to sit and another for the dance floor? For those of you that have gotten married and used Castaways is there anything you would change looking back or recommendations you have? We are going with the Eternity Package and I am not clear on how many dinner options I can offer our guests.. I was thinking 1 of the package options 1 gluton free option. Can a vegetarian option be given also? Or only if there are food restrictions? Does anyone have Eternity menu dinner recommendations? Any cake / flavour recommendations from the Eternity menu? I am considering getting a hair trial done.. My concern is do you get the same hair dresser the day of the wedding? Can the make-up that is included with the package be substittuted for a hair trial instead? Is it worth my while gettting a hair trial done? I have a pretty good idea of what I would like.. I just wonder if it is a waste going to get my hair done and then having to mess it up so my fiance doesn't see what my hair will look like the day of the wedding.. lol Thanks for your time and hope ya's can help me out! Have a great day!
I didn't have a hair trial, I went with a picture and my extensions and I was more than happy with what she done. My mom and mother in law and bridesmaids were happy with their hair also. They are very good at what they do. Sarah
  10. Hello brides, We are getting married at the Now Jade in about four weeks, December 5th 2013. My question is if there is tax charged after you get all the things figured out with Pilar. My goal is to only include bridesmaid boquets and thats it. I have selected the divine package and have already paid the $500 deposit and would like to stay under $3000 total is that doable? But mainly is there tax on top of everything or is the tax included in the prices they give you?
Whatever is on the contract is what you pay.....everything is included. We paid by card so I am expecting a fee from the bank for international transaction fees but this is nothing to do with now jade. Xx
  11. How many guests did you have? Congratulations newlywed! How many guest did you have? We are doing the divine package and I'm starting to get nervous that we will have more than 25 ppl. Any idea on the cost of additional guests? Thanks
We had exactly 25 guests. Because we had a legal ceremony we had to pay for the judges fee and translation of the certificate we also had to pay blood tests for both me and my husband. This had to be paid directly to the judge and doctor in cash which was a total of £310 GBP and then it cost approx £2180 GBP for the divine package. The only extras we added was: Music system for the reception 2 extra boutinere's 3 hot pink runners for the tables at the reception 1 bag of petals for the flower girl My Bridesmaids had fans so we didn't need bouquets for them and I took a basket for the flower girls petals. If your Bridesmaids are having bouquets I would highly recommend that you use them for your centre pieces at your reception if you have more than 3 tables. It costs alot of money to purchase extra centrepiece flowers and its such a shame at the end of the evening when you cant take them home. We had enough flower decorations from the ceremony to cover the sweetheart table and 2 other tables so I used my bouquet for the 3rd table which Adraina had already put a vase on there for me to put it. They make it look beautiful without you really having to spend too much extra outside of the package. I have no idea how much it costs for additional guests.....sorry. Xxx
  12. Where did you have your reception at? That is about the same number of guests I will have, but I'm worried about the room looking empty? Did you have music and everything? Dancing? With less people I'm just a little unsure of what I should plan? Help?!
The room itself was great for us, still room for a couple more round tables but the way she organised it for us was perfect. We didnt have a dj and i refused to pay 800 usd for a dancefloor so we just hired the music sys so that we could play our ipod. When isela took me to castaways to show me the setup she said and thats your dancefloor which was the other section of castaways so i was happy with that. If im completely honest it was a very hot long day and by 9:45pm i was completely shattered and so was some of my guests, by the time the speeches were done and food was served it was almost time to wrap up anyway so for me personally im glad i didnt waste money on dj's, dancefloors (because the one in castaways was a big dance floor anyway) and all the other extras. We stuck with the divine package with a few tiny additions and it was great Xxxxx
  13. Beautiful wedding!! Who was your photographer?
All the shots that I posted were family and friend shots. We used the on site photographer with the Divine package so it covered the ceremony only. If I am completely honest he wasn't any better than My friends or family, wasn't very versatile and didn't really have much of a clue. You get 26 with the package and we had no problems reducing it from 269 to 31 because they were pretty rubbish, saying that he gave us the extra 5 but would only out them on the disk and not in the book for a tip! We did manage to pick the best 31 but to say I was disappointed is an under statement, we just wasn't in a position financially to get a outside photographer. I will upload some of the ones he took so you can have a look Xxx
  14. We arrived back in the UK yesterday ;-( so cold and want to be back at now jade. We had the most amazing day and wish we could do it all over again it seemed to have all gone so fast. I will over the next few days put a full review together of the whole experience from start to finish. There was a few little negative things but I can assure you I would not have changed it for the world. Our day was better than I could ever of imagined. For all you brides to be.......easier said than done but you do not need to panic wether you have Pilar. Isela or Adriana your day will be perfect they all know what they are doing. Xxxxx

  15. You were absolutely breath-taking. Congratulations! One question: how many tables did you have at castaways and how did you organize them. I keep going back and forth with Isela... I really don't think I want my guest to be separated with a dance floor in the middle.
We had 25 guests (including bride and groom) so a sweetheart table with 3 round table 2 tables with 8 and 1 table with 7. It was perfect x
