  1. I'm sorry too, nor could I believe it was happening. Not to worry - I'm sure I was the fluke. lol. Just make sure you have everything written down that you can hand them. But I think it depends on who your coordinator is. I am sure everything will go very smoothly - just have your ducks in a row just in case. I'm still working on my review, but just make sure you know EXACTLY what you are getting in terms of your "backup" space. Make sure that you are happy with it before the day of, and if you are not.... DEMAND they pipe and drape the location to make you happy, if it looks like weather may be an issue. They have the service available, its a lot of work, but they can and will do it. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! And congrats!!! 2. Hi ladies, we just got back last night. I am sorry to say that nothing went according to plan. The week was the most stressful week of my life. I spent the majority of the time crying in my tequila shot. I will say that the on site staff worked very hard to fix things, but that experience was exactly what I was trying to avoid by doing a destination wedding. Couldn't be more disappointed. I will be putting together a formal review, but when I say nothing, I mean nothing. Think twice about BP if you are adding anything beyond their standard package (and even that didn't get set up correctly) If you are using ocean photo and doing the live stream, don't bother it didn't work. You will also need to give them a mandatory photo list in advance, but also have one ready for the photographer on the day of. If you go with JSAV. Make the play list for them, the entire playlist. And even then it was hit and miss. Tania was great, we did have a hair issue, but it was resolved quickly The staff at the bars were amazing. The event staff tried to fix their breech of contract as best they could, but wow. I should not have to do their jobs for them. My fiancé, brother, father, and I all spent days of what was supposed to be vacation yelling at these people. Apparently that was the only way to get to higher management to get things resolved. Worst experience ever. The actual day ended up acceptable, but only because I believe my brother and fiancé worked so hard and we had some divine intervention to clear the weather long enough to still have the ceremony on the sky deck. I promise I will get more details to you ASAP.
  3. Oh my heavens! Leaving on Monday! And I need to vent... 60 day planner - Marisol has been wonderful. But apparently, Marco is my onsite coordinator - but I have yet to hear from him. Period. No email introducing himself, nothing. Starting to get extremely concerned! All I am asking for is confirmation of our onsite meeting, which is supposed to be MONDAY. Losing confidence... On a brighter note, I found a webcam that sits on top of Beach Palace. http://www.webcamsdemexico.com/webcam-cancun.html
  4. Thanks Ileana! I will post a great big review for everyone! We leave in 19 days! So excited, but so much to do!!! Quote: Originally Posted by Heyily Great Suggestion MegBride! 5. Which menus are you looking for? Private Event menus, or restaurant menus? Quote: Originally Posted by jlo0821 Can you please send the menu items to me ? I am getting married in June 2014. [email protected] Thanks!!!
  6. Hi Ileana, I would hem the dress to the heels you will be wearing for the dinner/reception. My suggestion, and I don't know if this will work or not since I don't know what your dress looks like, but you can certainly put a VERY small hoop under the dress - which will prevent you from tripping on it in the sand. 7. Guess who's 29 days out? This girl right here! So I'm trying to figure out what to do for favors. I should first state that we are taking as little as possible to Mexico. But, I'd like to do mini pinatas, filled with candy. I am certain there are places in Cancun to purchase the candy, but where? Ah Cacao has been the top of everyone's list, but it's chocolate and will probably melt inside the pinata. lol. Any ideas would be extremely appreciated! Also, for any past brides out there... did you have any trouble with customs when bringing things for your welcome bags/favors through the airport?
  8. Thanks, I will. Get everything in writing from them! (Marisol, does an email recap of your phone conversations for you.) I've got the day pass for Tania in writing - and I was told that I would have to pay the vendor fee if I switch to a different DJ. Is what it is! 9. I don't know that any of this will be helpful... but I opted to go with their preferred vendors for all most everything because I didn't want to deal with all the vendors and fees and heaven knows what. The only exception is Tania. So far, I've been told I only need to pay for a day pass for her. The problem that I have with the Salon at BP, is that they couldn't offer a portfolio of the work they have done. Only what they "can" do. That is not the same thing, and as someone who has had formal makeup training, I am very picky. The biggest reason I went with Tania, outside of the great recommendations found here, is because I will be there for week leading up to the wedding, I have no idea what color I am going to be by the time we get hitched. And I don't want to run around trying to find makeup at the last minute, plus yay to the airbrushing. I was told that the salon at BP does not do airbrushing. I am contracted through a third party (destinationweddings.com) and I have to say that it has helped those earlier negotiations go a little smoother, plus I don't have to handle all the travel stuff or room block issues (other than paying attention to those reduction schedules). And, typically, if I have to get my DW planner involved, the issue is resolved in my favor 9 times out of 10. I will say this though.... when I was dealing with the people prior to Marisol (90-30 day planner), I was going nuts! Everything they told me was contradictory to what had been said prior, regardless of email or phone conversation. So I stopped trying and just waited til the 90 day mark. They seem to have a horrible communication issue between departments, and I don't think anyone really knows what's going on until you get your 90-30 day planner, hopefully everything carries over to the 30 day planner! But for now, I am working with Marisol and everything is super easy! Oh - FYI... for anyone experiencing email frustration with Marisol... Just pick up the phone and call her, it is THE easiest way to communicate with her and she is super sweet. Because of my frustration with the staff - I didn't start booking my vendors and such until the middle of August- and have had no issues with availability, but again this is probably due to going with their vendors and our "off-season" wedding date. But I will admit, I am very nervous about going with JSAV. So I may back out of that one and go with another DJ/MC services, I'll keep you posted if I do, and what I experience in regards to additional vendor fees. ~Meg Quote: Originally Posted by newlyengaged13 I was dealing with Kalena then she passed me off to Alejandra. 10. Hi Newlyengaged13, Who is your wedding planner? Are you going through a third party or dealing with the resort directly? Quote: Originally Posted by newlyengaged13 I finally got them to confirm in an email that I will only be charged a day pass for an outside photographer. Here is what was sent to me: " I know plenty ob brides at Beach Palace didn’t pay for the vendor fee before; however our politics about a vendor fee have changed now and this is because we had some bad experiences with some outside vendors, and we are pretty confident about the great services we offer. We can respect payment only of daypass for photographers, however vendor fee for make up artist cannot be taken off" So with that being said, guess who's NOT paying the vendor fee for a makeup artist? This budget conscious bride over here, that's who!
  11. Stacie aka (Chacie , First of all, you look absolutely stunning in those photos!!!! I can't wait to see the Ocean Photo Studio pictures!!! Secondly, thank you, thank you, thank you for your review!!! I've just started working with my planner and I'm already going a little bananas. ;0) Your review helps so much! Congratulations again!
  12. Welcome Back and Congratulations!!! I hope the day/trip was flawless!!!
  13. I'm not getting married until October, so i can't say it will be worth it, but I am going with Ocean Photo Studio (BP supported vendor) for 1 hour of video/webstreaming. I have so many people who are extremely upset they can't be there, so I thought the streaming/video service will be nice for them. I can let you know if its worth it in November ;0)
  14. Hi Stacie, I believe the contingency location is the ballroom. If you want pictures let me know and i will send you what Marisol sent me.
  15. Hope you ladies have the time of your lives this week! And don't forget to let all of us know all the details!
  16. Hi Juliebeth, I do know that they do have a contingency plan for every outdoor wedding. But I don't know if there are any costs associated with said plan. However, since most of the packages include your ceremony location, I would say probably not. But definitely check with your planner and get it in writing!
  17. Hi Ladies Does anyone have any pictures of the Ballroom available at Beach Palace? Due to my date (looong story), I am nervous about inclement weather, so I would love to have a reference for the "plan B". Thanks!
  18. I don't either. Our contract came through our TA (whose fabulous so far) but she couldn't give us those details either. Her explanation of the clause was that it would be disclosed while we were working with the wedding dept at BP, and that its presence in this contract is strictly informational. Oh the unknowns!
  19. Hi Ladies! We just booked our wedding at BP for October 26, 2013!!! I have a quick question that I hope you can help me with. As we were reading through our group contract, we noticed a clause that essentially refers to a surcharge being applied to any "complimentary" private functions. There is no mention of what that "surcharge" would be and that has my guy a little, shall we say, down right worked up. :0) My guess is that the surcharge is reflective of local sales/service taxes for the function. But any clarification y'all can provide would be most appreciated! Thanks a ton! And congratulations to all of you! Meg
  20. I don't have a TA. Although I am seriously looking into it. Do you have one you could recommend? (PM that to me if you do)
  21. Hi Blakdeevah, Congratulations on your date! And thank you for your response. That does make far more sense than trying to handle all the financial aspects of the contract ourselves. We are certainly not opposed to doing a contract and paying the deposit, but now everything seems far more complicated than it needs to be. Some people have already booked using the group code, at a terrific price, but the contract will negate their reservation and actually cost them more. So if you don't mind my asking, what happens if you don't use all of your booked rooms? You are still responsible for payment on the entire reservation, correct? What do you do in the event you need more rooms? Sorry for all the questions, but I've got some serious decisions to make, ASAP. This is supposed to be fun, right?
  22. Hi Ladies, I am booked at Beaches T&C for October 26, 2013. We just booked two weeks ago. We were planning to invite around 160 people, knowing that we would probably get 50 to attend. However, I thought the group code would lock in the rate that we paid for our reservation (this was my mistake), but now the rate is rising and I haven't even sent out the Save the Dates. I know there is the option of doing a group contract, but that makes us responsible for the payment of however many rooms we contract out and collect the money from everyone, which is extremely awkward, particularly for a wedding scenario. I guess my question is how are some of you handling the planning of your group rates, when the resort won't do a normal room block like any other hotel on the planet? We've even tried to book several rooms (and pay the deposit) under my name, but the resort won't let us completely transfer the reservation from one person to another.
