  1. My dress is taking 8 month to arrive so if you want time for alterations you might want to look sooner... But really it depends on the designer, mine is an alfred angelo so that's eight months, but I know there were some other ones that didn't take so long....
  2. So how is the wedding planning going ladies! My fiance and I are eagerly waiting for the schedules and ticket prices before we set anything else down in stone and order the STDs etc, but I'm super excited and wrapped up in the planning. Lori, the picture of your STDs didn't come through, have your samples arrived yet? What are you ladies planning to include in your STDs anyways? Liana
  3. Hi Carlota, I'm sorry to hear Thomas is still in slow recovery, hopefully the doctors figure out the best medicine to make him better. And you are right, some things work out for the best with you there to take care of him. There is something about being a woman and taking care of all those people around you, especially the men in our lives. Just make sure to take care of yourself, get lots of sleep and do NOT stress! I don't want you getting sick. After the wedding you both should look into Alberta Canada, the weather might be something different to get used to, we don't get nearly as hot as it gets in Europe.... and it can get colder here too. Wishing you the best! Good night Carlota!
  4. Hey Lauren, I have also been looking at gifts for my Maid and Matron of Honour-I am not actually having any bridesmaids.... and found this site they are called mothers bracelets, but they are customizable: you can chose the colours and the quantity of larger pearls. They are pearls which for me goes with the pearl package I have chosen and the cost is decent for them too. http://pearlsbylaurel.com/design-a-mothers-bracelet?src=pinterest-share Liana
  5. Thank you MyTye2B, Yeap I am flying out of Edmonton, my fiance and his family are all up in Peace River so to make the flights even more affordable we figured flying out of Edmonton is the soundest idea, especially since a 5 hour drive is sometimes better than a 10 hour layover, which appears to be the most common problem with flying out of Grande Prairie no matter who we fly with. Thank you so much for all your info, my fiance and I are waiting for the end of august when the prices and schedules would be ready before we finalize everything and send out the STD information packages. I have a TA in Edmonton that I am using, so it will more than likely be up to her to do the chasing around, like you said. Thanks again! Liana
  6. Hi Carlota! Your loves are both very handsome. I too am a huge dog lover. I have two cavalier king charles spaniels that it pains me to leave behind whenever I travel, especially for my big day next year But I plan to include them in the engagement photos and maybe a special touch some place in the ceremony. I am wishing you both much rapid health before your special day, that evil bug Thomas has made its way around these parts most recently, I am hoping for his speedy recovery. Stay healthy darlin, and I am glad that your father will take care of the wine situation. Try to unstress yourself! Is that not what destination wedding are supposed to be, unstressful! Liana
  7. Hey girls, for those of you who were inquiring about silk flowers, I found this website than has some awesome inexpensive flower packages, and she also can make custom orders. I ordered all the boutennieres from the site and the calla lily ones were gorgeous, so I have nothing to complain about. I might order my centerpieces and other misc decorations from her too, but I am still deciding on that sort of thing. http://www.budget-bride.com/ This is the one Jason chose and its gorgeous. Its very traditional as we are doing a very formal kinda black-tie sorta theme. This is my bridal fan, I got it at www.spanishplates.com in the United states. I love them all and bought different white ones for my maid and matron, and silver ones for our mothers. I think it will look awesome in the photos, especially with the photographer I have chosen. So super excited and our date is soooooo far away. lol Liana
  8. Hi Bre, I completely understand about the flights, those of us who travel for the holidays know that the prices go up the closer you get, not lower. I live in Peace Alberta, and usually fly home to visit my family at Christmas and normally buy my tickets during the summer. Thats the whole reason my fiance and I are planning a destination wedding.... one side has to fly anyways.... so why not have everyone fly some place hot and beautiful. I will be the first destination wedding for my family next year so I can just hear all the questions coming my way, lol. Anyways about the bouquet that comes with the Karen package, I am planning to use the Pearl package, and use the bouquet that comes as the toss bouquet. I have actually chosen to use fans for myself, the maid and matron of honour, as well as our mothers. I might use the bouquet in a couple of the bridal pictures, but figured why not give it to a guest during the bouquet toss at the reception. If that is not an option with the resort than who knows.... Hi Carlota, I would love to know what you decide on the wine when you finally decide. My background is Portuguese so my family is only so-so wine drinkers, and my fiances family are not at all. The last time I was in Mexico I did not find the wine too bad, but it was a different resort, so more than likely it was a different wine. I will more than likely still go with the house wine, I really do not like the idea of spending so much more on alcohol and beverages when we are going to an all-inclusive, but I guess that is every DW brides complaint about the additional cost of food and alcohol. Happy Canada Day to you too Bre! Liana
  9. Hi Carlota! My fiance and I have thoughts about the whole wine situation. The reality is that very few people are wine experts to really appreciate good wine. On another hand, there will be lots of other beverages for our weddings and those are more popular for some people. I have been to several weddings where almost half the wine set out to drink on tables isn't consumed. So I don't plan to spend the extra money for more expensive wine, afterall the other costs we are all paying to make our day very personal and special and reflective of our identities, I'm going to spend the money on those elements rather than ordering anything beyond the house wine. Course if someone here who has been to the resort and tried their house wine and discovered it to be awful.... that MIGHT just make me change my mind. Until than, this is my idea. So excited for you Carlota and the other brides! I hope that fortune smiles down on you all, and you have the gorgeous day that you all deserve. Liana
  10. Hi Ladies, I'm just starting to think about centerpieces for the reception, and was wondering if you ladies who are getting married, or who have got married, might be able to shed some light for me. Specifically, what comes with the wedding packages, I'm going with the Pearl packages with everything in white, and have about 70 guests on the invite list so far and doing a formal sitdown reception, haven't decided if we'll do plated or buffet yet either. What are the options for the guests tables? Thanks a bunch in advance ladies! Liana
  11. Hey Tara, Welcome! And congrats, if your not particular about date and times then there isn't so much of a hurry. We won't know exact cost for guests til late August, but I think most of us ladies have reserved the date and time at the resort for our ceremony. Myself I have also chosen the package, ceremony site, reception venue, I even haven't photographer and dress(I'm a little early on the latter but its 8 months til it's arrival) I've got ideas for my STD/invitations but won't be finalizing those til August when I can give my guests more accurate info. I think for most brides your on your own schedule but I live this site for all the ideas, information the other ladies can help you with. Happy planning! Liana
  12. Soon2BeMrsW, I received an email from Grace yesterday about the buffet at LaLaguna.... I was told that it only applies with 70+ guests.... For now I should have enough guests to qualify but if anyone backs out than I have a couple of the set menus I like.... I guess for me the final numbers will decide. Liana
  13. Hey Heatherlynn83, I've chosen 2pm for my ceremony, course my plan is to have the catholic ceremony so it'll be a little longer than just a civil ceremony, but I moved my ceremony to the 2pm slot to have more time with my photographer. Most sites I've visit say the biggest regret brides have it not having enough time, and after reading several post I might also fit in a little alone time with my groom to just enjoy the moment. But when I was talking to Grace I think she mentioned the possibility of moving supper to 6pm which is my plan if its possible rather than the 7pm start time.... I'm not having a cocktail hour as I just plan to let the guest do whatever they want in the meantime, it looks like there are lots of bars and lounges to relax at anyways.
  14. Hey Heatherlynn, What time is your supper reception.... Originally mine ceremony was suppose to be at four and the reception at 6, which doesn't leave much time for photos, which is super important to me, I have moved my ceremony to the 2pm slot as a result. So that should help use up a lot of time for the bridal party. As far as guests and a cocktail hour, I've read that some other brides have just had their guests go to the bars to kill some time. I'm still planning my own schedule, but that sounds like what I might do. And thank you Bre, I had not thought of a magnet and just a simple card to send them what they basically need to know. Guess that's the beauty of a wedding website.
  15. Hey Bre, or any other Brides, When you are planning to send out your Save the Dates, besides the traditional information, what else are you including. I've got a website in the works and a TA working on deals.... is there anything I might be missing? I appreciate any ideas, thanks
  16. Hey Amanda, My Fiance and I are planning to do the Beach Bash too. I've got it planned to do all the formal wedding stuff at the reception in the La Laguna, then just have the after party on the beach. Since we're doing a formal catholic ceremony in the chapel and the sit down reception, I like the idea of doing something that is very Mexico destination at the end of the night. For us it was one of the biggest features we liked about the resort.
  17. Hi Ladies, Just wondering what you ladies are thinking about sending your guests for invitation/save the dates as destination weddings require so much more advanced notice that typical weddings. I was thinking about sending out Save the Dates and wondering how much information I should send my guests.... Is that too soon to send the hoteland reservation information?
  18. Don't worry, I'm planning our wedding for Friday July 25th 2014 too, and I'm SOOOOO torn between three resorts. I've already booked my date and time and reception site at the Grand Palladium in Jamaica, but now I'm very concerned it'll be too pricey for my guests despite the fact that I adore the resort so very much. So I've been considering the Grand Palladium in the Mayan, and the Grand Riviera Princess also in Mexico. Does anyone have any ideas about any of these resorts. I'm also glad that I'm not the only one whose planning so far ahead. I thought I was crazy, but its good to know I'm not alone.
