  1. It's absolutely beautiful! I will be doing a long veil too, i JUST LOVE THEY WAY YOURS LOOKS!
  2. Your pictures are absolutely beatuiful! I had two questions: 1.) What photographer did you use? 2.) Any advice on what type of veil to get? I wanted a cathedral one but was told by many brides that it's too wind. From your pictures it looks like yours was mid-length.
  3. Thank you for the info! I was worried about how I was going to come up with the extra money for decorations at the gazebo. You mentioned you bought your chair sashes online, can you give me the name of the webiste? I was thinking of spending the extra money and renting the chivari chairs through Claudia at the resort and possibly bringing matching charger plates to give our reception tables a more GRAND feel.
  4. Hello Ladies, I was just wondering if any of you plan on getting married at the Gazebo? If so, what are your decoration plans?
  5. I had a question... how do I attach the starfish to the chair sash? Is there an additional piece like a hook or velcro that I need to bring to the hotel or do they handle attaching the starfish to the sash?
  6. He's about $330.00 for the wedding day and he does come to you at the resort. If you'd like to do a trail before the wedding day it's $180.00 You can email him directly at [email protected] He does the make-up and he works with a select few of people who do your hair. I would contact him right away since he books up fast and is very busy.
  7. I heard about Fernando on here as previous brides have used him. I've heard the resorts make-up and hair stylist are so so and that is something I really don't want to take a chance on. I've seen Fernando's work and it is amazing! I can send his info info if you would like. He's not cheap and you will have to pay an outside vendor fee, but in my opinion he is well worth it. This is the one day that I think us ladies should be able to splurge on ourselves!
  8. Hey ladies, In case any of you brides out there really want Mariachi's at your wedding (I plan on having them play while I walk down the aisle) let me know and I can give you the contact information for a company out in Playa de Carmen that offers them. The hotel is charging an obscene amount and this company only charges $400.00 per set (45 minutes) for a 6 person mariachi band and $600.00 per set (45 minutes) for a 9 person mariachi band. They also charge an additional $150.00 for travel expenses, but it's well worth the money when you compare the pricing the hotel is charging.
  9. This is beautiful! Who is doing your make-up and hair? I hired Fernando Fuentes.
  10. I reall wanted a long veil to go with my mermaid dress but I'm a heavier set girl and really don't like the way my hair looks up. I prefer it down but I'm worried the wind will be a problem and will be blowing everywhere. I'm a little confused with what type of veil to get as well. Some veils I feel are made for hair that's up while other's are made for hair that is down. You mentioned you had a back up plan... can you let me know what it is?
  11. Hey ladies... I'm getting married at the Gazebo at the Dreams Resort on May 31st 2013. I've been told it's super windy and it's not a good idea to wear a long veil or wear your hair down.. is that true? Has anyone made a site visit to check out if it is windy? What type of veil are all of you wearing? How will you be doing your hair?
  12. I also just confirmed Juan Navarro as my wedding photographer. Please let me know how your pictures come out and if you have any recommendations or things I should look out for. I've seen his work and it is absolutely beautiful! My wedding isn't until May 31st 2013 so I have some time.
  13. Yes but my resort wants to charge $1,100.00 + 11% sales tax for a 45 minute set of 5 mariachi's... CRAZY!
  14. OMG! Are you serious??? That is so wrong in so many ways. I've also heard that if your a mexican citizen and book a stay at any resort, you automatically get a 50% discount in comparison to what the avergae Joe would spend. Totally wrong in my opinion! It's definitely not like that down here in LA, everyone is charged the same rate across the board.
  15. I agree! This is exactly why we are not having a reception back at home. I want to stress to people that we are only celebrating our marriage at our destination wedding. But as long as it's me and him everything will be fine
  16. Yeah your right! I'm kind of a control freak and I kind of freaked out when people didn't book right when I did. I'm just hopeing for the best and whoever comes will be lucky to celebrate the day with us and be on vacation
  17. I agree! I couldn't believe how much they were charging for some stuff. They know that were limited to picking and choosing since were so far away from home.
  18. Glad to hear were int he same boat. I guess if less people show up that's more money me and my fiance can save for us! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping everything works out!
  19. Your absolutely right! My fiance has said that to me as well. Th most important thing is that we both will be there and will be getting married at the beach, which has been a dream for both of us. Thank you for making me feel better! I'll keep you guys posted and let you know what happens.
  20. Does anyone know of mariachi's who are based in Cancun and do weddings? The resort is trying to charge me an obscene amount and I refuse to pay it! However I really do want to have them at my wedding.
