  1. The entire wedding week was amazing!!!! I'm super happy, and wish we were still there. Nothing but compliments from each guest!!!! I'm excited for y'all to go thru what we did!!
  2. Hi ladies!! I'm here and it's great. Even the rain doesn't ruin the fun. I just had my appointment with Valeria our onsite coordinator and she is very nice and helpful. We just walked by bugambilias and it made it much more exciting to know in a few days I'll be there to officially walk down an aisle. I will try to post pictures a little later today.
  3. Hi ladies, this is probably random information I found but hopefully you will find it useful or just entertaining. While I'm not happy with the predicted forecast for our stay at moon palace next week (through the United States weather system); I decided to look at a European weather website for next weeks weather...... I hear their weather system is more accurate than ours (they have predicted tornadoes and hurricanes that our weather forecasting system never picked up) anyhow the one I came across has webcams set up alllll over the world and you can see live video feed of the day. There are 2 set up in cancun and both are at palace resorts- one at beach palace and the other at playacar palace. I've been staring at the beach palace one alllllll day. The water looks beautiful! It made me even more excited. Anyhooo hope this helps in someway, if nothing more stare at the live feed and day dream away!!!! http://www.wunderground.com/webcams/webcamsdemexico/15/show.html

  6. We have Valeria. I'm sure she's great but honestly today is the first time I frie communicating with her and she responded quickly but really didn't answer my question lol. We are staying in sunrise section as far as I know. I'm pretty happy with that. Good tip on hair because I was thinking something along those lines to the side and low but I will search for new hair ideas. Did y'all do any excursions? If so any recommendations? We are set to have ceremony in bugambilias gazebo and I asked for cocktail hr and reception to both be at lame terrace as one past bride suggested and I really liked the idea and her set up. However Edith the coordinator before Valeria tried talking us out of it- not sure why. Did you take decorations of your own? If so was it a hassle? Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm just so curious since you were just there!!!
  7. Thank you for your response. I feel more at ease. I'm just nervous about it because like you said ive been picturing our wedding outdoors since the beginning. I know this sounds stupid but I never thought about rain til recently. If anything I daydreamed that it would be super hot and me all sweaty. But what I worry is that we paid for carriage and a little over $1000 for fireworks to go off at our first dance but I don't want to be a Debbie downer, so I will think happy thoughts and not stress. Any advice To give since you were just there? Oh who was your onsite coordinator?
  8. Hi there! Glad to hear you had a great time. We leave this Saturday and the only thing im begining to stress about is the weather. I happened to look yesterday at the 10 day weather forecast and it pretty much says rain/thunderstorms everyday. First, I know I shouldn't stress over what I cannot control- the weather. Second Im sure the rain/thunderstorms doesn't necessarily mean right over moon palace. But by chance did you take a look at weather forecast before you left? If so was it pretty accurate? Other than that I can't wait to read your review.
  9. Thanks for the tip on the tipping lol. Did you by chance use rose petals? I bought a whole bunch and now I'm asking myself why I did that! My flower girls are holding flower balls that I made them so they won't be throwing petals on the floor. I seriously bought a lot. Does the resort allow the guests to throw them at the end? Wondering if its too messy and then they have to pick them all up. I guess I could have them scatter them on the tables but if its windy then why bother? Your thoughts???
  10. Thats crazy about your luggage, i know id bust out crying I will definitely start on a check list. I'm thinking we are going to have to purchase one more large suitcase just in case. 2 things....1) so did you take your wedding dress in a garment bag on plane and where did They have you store it? We are flying united airlines so im hoping they are nice and put it in a special place lol 2) Scott asked me to ask previous brides how much should we tip the on site coordinator?
  11. Thanks Shanna, it's starting to set in- the excitement! I can't wait now. Last week I was stressed, wishing I could freeze time to get stuff done. Right at this moment I want next week to get here already to start the fun and memories. Thanks for all you advice. I think I will want to go back too next summer.
  12. I have 10 days til we get on a plane headed for, what I'm praying, is one of the best weeks of my life (our life). We went yesterday morning to apply for our marriage license- so we can cross that off our extremely long list of "things to do before we leave for cancun." We are planning to get married by the Justice of the Peace next Friday before we leave for cancun!!! I just finished putting one of my OOT bags together just to see what it would look like. And ladies let me tell you, seeing the bag all put together made me not only excited to give them to my family and friends but it made me proud of myself! I would NOT label myself "creative or crafty" but after seeing the finished product.... I feel like Martha freaking Stewart! It makes me feel good, that for once I didn't wait til the last minute to start on a project. When deciding what gifts I would be giving my guests, I immediately told my fiancé, "I want to pull an Oprah!" Of course he said, " what do you mean?" I in turn stated "we are flying everyone to cancun on the jet I never told you I have!" Not! I told him I wanted to make gift bags with some of my favorite things/products but on a budget! So a little under a year ago I started purchasing products for my vision. I am quite happy with the outcome. I'm still waiting on vinyl decals in the shape of a heart with our initials to place on the glass container of the scented oils i had made to smell similar to my favorite perfumes. I wanted to share pictures of the bags and the items i will be placing in the bags, however I'm having trouble uploading the pictures from my iPad, so I will put them in my photo album. I found a lot of good sellers on etsy. I recommend every single seller I ordered from. There was not one that I had a bad experience with. Every single store was super helpful and quick to send items!! I absolutely love Etsy.com!!! Good luck ladies!!!!
  13. Shanna do you think all the complimentary bouquets are this color? Or do they try to match the colors of the wedding? I've made 2 bouquets for my brides maids and I still have my matron of honors left to make, but with having a week and a half or so left til we leave I'm thinking why don't I save myself the headache and stress and let my sister (my matron of honor) use the one moon palace gives me because I made mine already. In our final PO it did say white, pink or red flowers will be used, but then next to it it says purple flowers and coral ribbon or vise versa. -Vanessa
  14. I agree with you...my fiancé made the mistake of telling them we were bringing our own center pieces so she said there would be a $150 set up fee per table!!! I told him I wasn't going to tell them- just show up with the decorations and see what they said. So needless to say she put that in our final PO- "if bringing decorations please note $150 set up fee per table to have your onsite coordinator set up" I'm hoping when they see it's actually real simple that they won't charge me. All I'm doing is using the pomander flower balls that I made for my flower girls and putting them on top of a pretty silver candle stick I bought at target. So simple, shoot i can even have one of my guests set it up real quick for me lol. Its definitely not $150 worth of set up fees per table for 4 tables. Like you said they find any reason to charge you so the less you tell them on the little stuff the better.
  15. I believe we are in the sunrise side but I'm actually gonna email or call next week to confirm. I want to make sure a few of us are on same floor and/or right next door to each other if possible. We are doing it all while in cancun. We were debating on doing a hometown reception here as well but towards the end of our planning decided against it. He's a firefighter so we'd pretty much have to invite the whole fire department and I've worked with my company for 12 years and that would be another good amount of guests we'd have to invite on top of all our family that isn't going to make it to cancun. So we decided to save the extra money we'd put into another reception and use it for traveling. Since we fulfilled the 75 room nights we are doing a welcome dinner Wednesday where we will give out our OOT bags/gifts. We are doing ceremony in gazebo, and cocktail hour and reception hopefully at lake terrace. I say hopefully because our coordinator is trying to talk us out of doing the cocktail hour and reception at same location. Then a farewell dinner Friday.
  16. Sounds like we have the same type of mother-in-law.....and you and I are on same page. They keep asking when we are getting married in town so we can celebrate, but we honestly haven't picked a date. We just want to go do it on our time- alone, because like you said then it would be like our ceremony in cancun was for nothing. I felt the same in the beginning that I wanted the legal ceremony but we both are happy we are doing it this way. My sister got married in Vegas a few years back and they had to arrive a day or 2 earlier in Las Vegas and got married at the courthouse their before they did their ceremony at the hotel, so I guess it's pretty much the same in our case. Good luck Vanessa
  17. Hey there again, We are also bringing our own photographer, but we haven't told the resort that in so many words. What i have learned the most thru this forum and thru personal experience is to be as vague as possible until the month or 2 before you leave.....From what I hear they try to charge a $500 fee if you bring your own photographer, however the way we rationalize this is that he is a paying guest who is staying at their property and so happens to have a camera. When they asked if we were using their photographer we simply told them we were entrusting our guests with capturing our special day. And that was that, they said good luck and if we changed our minds to let them know. Our friend/photographer is staying Monday to Friday, so we paid $1488 for his room, so in my eyes they got more than $500 of my dollars but it also worked in our favor because that was 4 nights added to our room block which helped us reach our unlimited events!!!
  18. Hello congratulations to you as well! I noticed your date and I got excited thinking another bride would be there but then saw it was for next year! But of course I will definitely let you know about the weather. That is my biggest concern also. Majority of my family and his family are big time sweaters and I don't want us to look horrible in pictures, so the first thing I did was request the latest ceremony time- in hopes of it not being too hot at that time. Plus we are doing fireworks for our first dance as husband and wife so we needed the sun to be down by reception time. I've been googling weather and the time the sun sets there at that time of year. So our schedule for that day is ceremony at 6, Cocktail hr 7, and reception at 8! I'm hoping for a nice breeze at night. I ordered fans for the ladies, hopefully that will help some. We are doing the symbolic ceremony so I don't think we need any translating or paperwork really. But anything else you need to know I'm happy to help with.
  19. Hello ladies, My countdown begins, we are leaving in less than a month for our June 20th wedding! I'm nervous but super excited at the same time. Will anyone else be at moon palace around that time? We arrive Saturday June 15th and leave the following Saturday. I haven't posted much on here, mainly spoke with some of you thru PM, but I just wanted to say thank you all for the wealth of knowledge you have posted on here!!! It's very helpful and some of the info on here has even saved me money!!! So thank you lovely ladies! -:DVanessa
  20. Do you know who took over Ricardo's spot? I found out thru one of my guests trying to make a reservation that Ricardo no longer works there. We were told to contact Mayra- however she is hard to get ahold of and has yet to return our messages. I'm getting frustrated!!
  21. That did actually cross my mind, I kind of threw it out there yesterday to my maid of honor who was wanting to book thru Expedia. I told her as a gift I would pay a portion towards her room (she kept saying no she couldn't take my money) I did not mention it would be benefiting us in getting free events- maybe I should tell her it's a win win on both our parts! Thanks Laura
  22. Hi lauren, So do you know how many nights they are counting towards your free wedding events? Im in same boat as you as far as some of my guests choosing to book outside of room block, which is fine, but now my fiancé and I are stressing on the amount of money we will have to shell out- that we were hoping we wouldn't have to. We really wanted a private reception and doesn't look like we will be getting that for free
