  1. Havent posted in a while and just wanted to say that Nicole, the WC, has been great getting back to me with any questions I have. Might be the slow season but I am really happy. Jodi Ann from Tai Flora has been great too! Im getting married July 10, 2014 at the Rose Hall Suites and just going over my budget now. I see some brides are getting married around the same day as me...see you all there
  2. Hi All, I haven't been on in a few months. My wedding is July 10, 2014 at the suites Are Nicole and Tiffany still the wedding coordinators at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites? I keep reading about Loretto. Please let me know and happy planning!!
  3. Thank you so much as always Kassi!! I am actually going to try both of these out. Going to a place in Woodbridge first (same place my sister found her's) and then I will try out Ritche and Beckers. I will let you know how it goes lol Thanks a lot, Julia
  4. Hello Ladies, Can those of you who live in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (Vaughan, Brampton, Mississauga areas) please tell me where you bought your destination wedding dresses or plan on buying it? I want to go somewhere where the sales people are not pushy, the prices are in the under $2000 range and obviously want the store to have destination wedding appropriate dresses Thanks for the tips. Julia
  5. Hey Kassi, I am hoping to be able to have a Catholic priest be able to do the wedding in Jamaica. I know I may have to get married here and do the renewal on the beach but I would rather not do that. I ruins the Jamaican ceremony for me a little. I want one ceremony and I want it to be the real deal lol Nicole or Tiffany hasnt responded to me yet about the Catholic priest coming to Iberostar so well see!!!!!! Thanks Kassi!! Julia
  6. Hello all, Just curious if any of you brides out there were able to have a priest come to the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites resort to perform your Catholic wedding ceremony? I emailed Nicole and Tiffany but thought I would try to see if anyone here had success with this. If you did do this, how much extra was it and did you have to bring some paperwork from your own church to prove you did marriage classes and that your parish approves? I have read different things: some websites say Catholic priests do not come to resorts and will only marry you in a church in Montego Bay, other says the the Rose Hall resorts and Sandals resorts have had Catholic priests do it. Just curious....thanks a lot for the information Julia

  9. Hey Brides, Not sure the answer to this question so I thought I would post it..... I need to know the answer to this question from someone that is a Catholic Canadian bride getting married or already married in Jamaica please Can you tell me, did you have a Catholic priest marry you (or are you getting one from Jamaica)? Did you tell the hotel you wanted a Catholic priest to perform the ceremony? Did you do marriage classes in the church back in Canada before heading to Jamaica and did your parish provide documentation to give to the Catholic priest? I just want to know that this ceremony and marriage is recognized in the church once I get back home? Thanks for all your input !! I absolutely appreciate it ... Julia

  11. Hello all, My wedding is still a year and a half out but I wanted to ask all of you out there about your thoughts. Have most of you out there got yourself a travel agent? Or..... what do you think of the idea of booking directly through the actual travel company using their group rate of course (i.e. AIR CANADA VACATIONS, SUNWING, WESTJET, AIR TRANSAT). Just curious if any of you desination brides have just gone directly through a reservation agent at the actual travel company. Is this even allowed? lol After reading some posts, I feel like going through a third party, things tend to get lost in translation (for example, many brides were not told by there travel agents that they are able to get a trip for free after a certain number of people booked). Anyway, thanks for the suggestions in advance Julia
  12. Congrats SJay!!! So excited to hear all about your wedding Welcome back Julia
  13. Ok so I have read all 563 pages of this thread lol...took a couple days but I think I am all caught up!! I am getting married at the IBEROSTAR ROSE HALL SUITES RESORT in 2014. I will probably be having 60-80 people attending and we are all coming from Toronto Ontario. I am in the very beginning stages of my wedding planning. In fact, I have tried booking my wedding date for a couple of weeks now but after two emails and even speaking directly to Tiffany, I have yet to book my date. I sent over my request form with credit card and id and I know the date is available because I spoke to Tiffany (she said she will send me the contract to sign but has not). Just wondering if any of you out there would be willing to send over the actual contract that they want you to print, sign and scan back to them? [email protected] incase you do have one I would be forever greatful because maybe it would mean that I can breathe easy for a year knowing I actually have my wedding date. Last question: Those of you in Toronto, please let me know if have a travel agent you are very happy with. Flight Centre and Itravel2000 dont seem to get good feedback from what I have read over the past few days. I am super excited to hear all about the weddings that happened in Decemeber...looking forward to hearing from all of you beautiful brides !! Thanks a bunch Julia
  14. Too bad its in the States or I would have jumped on that! It is difficult to find someone you can trust to find the best rate for your group. This I think will be my most challenging thing to do. Wish I had a trustworthy agent! Ill keep searching
  15. WOW!!! I am not happy with Flight Centre generally so thats why I asked you.....Totally going to do my research. Thanks for your honesty Have a great weekend...weather is supposed to be awesome.
  16. Omg your amazing!!! Thanks for that What travel agency did you go with? We both live in TO and I dont know if I should go with Flight Centre like I usually do.
  17. I will definietly look into Misha Earle! Im going to email her for pricing. I agree with the videography; I will have a family member do the same thing. I was going back and forth with having the steel pan band for the ceremony or afterwards at the beach party; I really want them for when I walk down the aisle so I think I will be doing that. I dont think we are doing a cocktail hour; though I would love to, I am not sure yet that its in the budget....well see Are you going to have appetizers at your cocktail hour along with drinks? Also, what is the difference between national open bar and international open bar? (I assume national=wine and beer and international=all that good stuff like rum, vodka, etc). For the semi-private dinner, do you have any idea if you have to pay extra for alcohol? You have been very helpful; thanks so much! Im much less stressed after talking to you! Julia
  18. I was curious...you mind telling me which travel agency you went through? I usually go with flight centre but I dont know that I want my group to go through them. Just curious since we both live in the same area if you have anyone you may recommend?
  19. photographer: might hire who they have at the resort for 36 pictures (ceremony and after ceremony photo session) video: I hear what they do at the resort is cheesy and I wont pay for something I dont like, so I really dont know what to do about that makeup and hair: I am lucky that I have my cousin who is a hairdresser and does beautiful makeup so I wont be using the salon florist: definitely going to go through Tai Flora unless I hear of anything better that has gone to this resort before and is trustworthy what are you doing for all of that? Did you hire their steel drum band? If so, for the ceremony or the beach party?
  20. Yaa thats what I thought; just going over budget and wanted to be sure. You must be getting soo excited! Your wedding is just around the corner
  21. Awesome! Thanks a bunch. Since the restaurant is semi-private for dinner, besides the $450 you will be paying to rent it out, is there also a per person fee? I know that with the ceremony package it includes 2-8 people then $18 person after that, so my assumption is, that $18/person includes our guests having dinner at the restaurant as well. Can you just confirm that for me Thank again for your helpful information, Julia
  22. Sorry one more thing: if I were to book Calabash for 50-60 people (semi-private), I will be paying $450 on top of the per person seated dinner correct? I thought I read somewhere that you have to pay $70 per person but I know that is for a private function so I am not sure how semi-private works? Thanks Kassi!
  23. That was extremely helpful and very kind of you to tell me all of that. I will be doing the exact same ideas as you now because it actually more fun to dance on the beach; love it! We can eat in the Air conditioning then go party on the beach. I was curious, are you having a DJ for dinner or are you going to save him for the beach party, or both? Are you going to have a bar set up on the beach? Have you reserved your beach dancing and dinner with the WC upon booking your date or do you have to wait until Jan/Feb for that? Thanks a lot; Its wonderful to see another Toronto bride going to the Iberostar Have a wonderful night Julia
