  1. Hi Ladies! I'm still at Excellence, nap time before dinner. My wedding was amazing! My guests have all love loved the resort! Food is yummy. You do have to stalk them about the cake. Our photogs did and it took multiple times asking. I'll do a more detailed review for you when I get back. But overall, seriously amazing. Makeup and hair were fantastic too.
  2. Wow, sorry you had such a bad experience! My wedding is Friday, so too late to change now! Luckily, 99% of wedding reviews I've seen have been very favorable, so I'm hoping mine will be the same. I have seen the cake thing come up one other time, so I may bring some of your concerns to Gloria ahead of time to try to prevent them (mainly cake). I've been to Excellence before and loved everything about it. Hopefully, the service and quality haven't gone downhill since I've been there last. I'll report back to you ladies sometime after Friday :0). I'm still very excited :0)
  3. Two weeks from today!! Eek! I think we'll do the cheesecake also. That cake looks delish!
  4. Thanks! I got them from my best friend Etsy :0) http://www.etsy.com/shop/brandiwalk
  5. Congrats Rhiannon! So excited to hear that things are going well! I just sent Gloria dinner choices and flower choices. Also, instead of a big cool OOT bag, we decided to do personalized (with the guests initials) insulated tumblers for all the guests. We'll still put them in gift bags and may add a wine/bottle opener or something else small. I'm also making all the ladies barefoot jewelry, as there will only be about 12 women attending. Hope they like them!!
  6. 5 weeks from today!!! Eeek. Excited, but still lots of little details to sort out. I'm also making barefoot jewelry for the bridal party for the ceremony. Two pairs down, three to go! It's fun but time consuming. My last shower is this Sunday. We get legally married in a small 'secret' ceremony on the 22nd. So, lots of activity between now and then. No wristbands!! Yay! It's very nice. That and no reservations needed at dinner, which I also love. I'm in the zebra arm club too. Though I do think that the fabric they set up can minimize that a little depending on where you're standing or how they set it exactly.
  7. Thanks Jessica and Amanda. I was leaning toward the real thing, but wasn't sure.
  8. Hi ladies, are you/did you take your real wedding rings down there? Hope planning is going well!! The new pics and reviews are making me even more excited! Beautiful!
  9. Does anyone know if you can take your own floaties down there? I hear the lazy river ones get taken fast. Saw some cute, cheap ones that might be a fun OOT addition if they are allowed.
  10. Wow! Thanks Carolyn! Your wedding was beautiful! I'm wanting to do something similar with flowers- mostly white with pops of coral, pink and orange. My bridesmaids are wearing turquoise. What did you do for your bouquet? Also, when you brought all that stuff into Mexico (as I plan to), did you have to declare the wedding items & gifts as 'goods'? I was trying to determine if we'd be taxed on all the stuff we're taking down there. Everyone- are you taking your own toasting glasses/knife/set thing down there? Or do they give you one? For the OOT bag, I am thinking of getting all the ladies a floral light weight kimono style robe, really cute ones on etsy. I can't figure out what to get for the men. Any ideas? I'm on my two month count down starting tomorrow!!! Heading to my bachelorette weekend tomorrow morning!! Very Excited!
  11. Hi UMassRN007! Exciting that you decided on Excellence, I'm sure you will love it. I've been to ERC before for a trip a few years ago and it was amazing. Swim up vs. oceanfront is a tough call. I prefer the top floor because I really like the view of the ocean from up above better. The swim ups can have blocked views of the ocean (palm trees, chairs, etc.). But, I can see the appeal of being able to walk out your door and hang out in a hammock or hop in the pool. Good luck deciding!!
  12. Great idea to deliver them ahead of time. I'm going to consider that. You could probably include a few things you couldn't otherwise. Thanks for the tip!!
  13. Thanks for sharing the stuff about the wipes! That's awesome. I will definitely get some and share with the wedding party. And congrats Jessica on the weight loss! I'm trying, but it goes much more slowly than I'd like. I have about 2 and a half months, so a little more time to see some change. I'm planning on bringing table runners for the tables. I'm going with burlap, since I have such bright colors otherwise. I hope they can really set up all the stuff I plan on bringing!! Did you all do OOT bags? I' struggling with what to do on those.
  14. HI Ladies! I hope everyone's planning is going well. Songs- I still have to figure that out too. I like Sea of Love, by Cat Power, but my FI thought it was depressing, lol. I don't, but it is pretty slow. There is a beach version of Cannon D with steel drums that's kinda cute. A few Bob Marley songs are contenders. Vitamin String Quartet does some fun instrumental versions of popular wedding songs also. I'd be curious what other people are doing as well. I think we're going to bring our Ipad and a Bose speaker and use that for our sound system. Regarding dinner/reception- are you ladies doing rounds or one big long table? I have about 24 guests- Gloria recommended rounds, but I do like the way one big table looks and it seems that it would be easier to decorate (less centerpieces). I'm also curious about the bar/dinner. I know they set one up for the cocktail reception, but not sure about dinner.
  15. Hi Ladies, Looks like I'll just miss a few of you! I'll be down there 7/10 through 7/18! I emailed Gloria today, as I haven't picked the locations yet and want to get on that! We finally picked out bridesmaids dresses, going with a turquoise for the dresses and oranges and pinks for the flowers and accents. Looks like we're in the 20-30 guest range right now too. Where do you think you will get ready? I see a lot of you will be doing hair/make up at the spa.I plan to do this also, but I think most of my bridal party plans to do their own. I have a few girls that are amazing at hair, so no help needed. But, I'd still want to get ready with my girls. Anyone have any ideas on that?? Happy Planning, Trish
  16. Yes, the travel agent sent her our confirmation info and that made it official. I'm July12th, we're very close!! :0) Congrats to you as well!
  17. Hi KayLynn! I went through destinationweddings.com and it seems they get very quick responses from the resorts and wedding coordinators due to their ongoing relationship with the resort. They held a date for me before (via destinationweddings) before I actually booked the trip. It was confirmed once I put the money down. I do hear back from Gloria fairly promptly for the most part, never more than a few days after an email. Hope you hear from them soon! It's hard to be excited about something like booking and have to wait!!
  18. Hi Jessica, I requested it from her and then she sent me the various menus and attachments by email. It also has the price list for all the extra decorations or upgraded flowers, etc. Dark Teal and Fuchsia will be very pretty!!
  19. Hi Ladies, I'm been MIA for awhile (finished up big test), so now it's back to planning!! My date is 7/12/13. I just got the menu options, flowers, etc. from Gloria this last week. I'm starting to narrow down my choices, but I'm stuck on picking colors. I've always wanted blue of some sort (maybe turquoise) as the main color, but go back and forth between orange, coral and pink as the other color. I'd love to hear opinions, if anyone has any thoughts about that! Something I've been wondering about- do they have a regular bar that they set up at your dinner reception? Thanks for your help everyone and Happy Planning!
  20. Welcome Ampanda! My wedding is just a couple weeks before yours. Did you get the pricing sheet from the resort for their optional add on packages? It looks like they have a few decent pictures on their site. They also have some cheesy ones, but if you tell them what you like and don't like, I wonder if they could accommodate that? I'm using a photography studio from the states.
  21. Hi! My understanding is that it's $45.00 per person beyond 20 (bride and groom included in 20). That is supposed to cover cocktail hour, dinner and cake/sparkling wine. I'm not sure if they're willing to negotiate on that, especially if it's a large group, but it's probably worth asking.
