  1. Now I want raffia fans!!!... lol.. Luckily my wedding is over a year away so I have planty of time to get them.. :o)

But I was wondering.. Are you ladies purchasing these just for the girls or are you putting them on all the chairs at the ceremony?  I love the idea of wrapping them in ribbon, I just wasn't sure what the guys would think about fans with ribbon. I guess if it's hott enough they will be thankful they are there? lol.. How are you doing yours?

  2. For our guest book, I was thinking of making a non-laminated scrapbook of our engagement pictures and then having a question on each page for our family and friends to write in their answers/suggestions.   Example: Have a picture on one page and at the top or bottom have a question that says " What are 3 things we should do before having children?"  and leave the page beside that blank for people to fill in. But I think this may be time consuming for guests to write in, so I may just pass it around our families when we are home or bridal showers, etc.

  3. I'm wanting to have my Wedding Ceremony at the Cloisters and here is the info I have recieved.. O&O guests can use the Cloisters for a site fee of 3,500 for two hours / Non-guests site fee is 4,500 fr two hours and the latest time slot we can do is 1-3:00. Does anyone know of any work around for this time slot?  We are wanting to book our wedding over a year in advance and have it during the middle of the week. But would love a later time slot so that we can have everyone go straight to our reception dinner following the ceremony. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!

  4. Aww.. Love the pics, thanks for sharing!!!.. Great idea for the favor bags and menu/table starfish.. Soooo cute!! I may have to borrow some ideas. :o

May I ask if you rented out that certain area or if you just requested tables for your set number of guests and then paid per person for dinner+taxes and gratuity?

How soon did you start communication with Luciano's for your reception dinner?

  5. Hello all Future Atlantis / Cloisters Brides!!..

My FI and I just recently decided on our plans for our 2013 Destination Wedding. (Thanks to our fabulous TA Barbara Vong, aka Babs, whom I found on this site.)  We are now awaiting our group rates for the Atlantis and the available wedding dates/times for the Cloisters.

I am soo excited about the whole process now and I think I've read every post dated back to 2009 that included the words "Atlantis" and "Cloisters". So now I am hoping there are new brides out there whom are planning their future wedding destination at these places so we can share our current plans, tips, ideas, and advice.

  6. I just know I can be very picky and change my mind a ton of times.. lol.. But I have found that there are sooo many different styles that I don't know which I like the best, especially on me. So far I have started at Davids Bridal. I have visited 2 of them and fell in love wih one dress, but once I got home and looked at the pictures I didn't care for it so much. (I take pictures of every dress I try on, because after all, once the wedding is over all we will have is our memories and tons of pictures.)

I'm going to start going to some boutiques in Atlanta, GA (Where my fiance is from) It's just a fun experience getting to be a bride and have all the attention of getting to try on pretty dresses. Also, after trying on dresses the past couple of times, I am determined to get in shape and be in a size 6 wedding dress and look good in a bikini. lol.. It just gives me more motivation. :o)

Have you had an okay experience so far, despite not finding the dress?

  7. I would Love to see your pictures!.. :o) My FI and I are working with our Fabulous TA, Babs, on staying at the Atlantis resorts and having our Ceremony at the Cloisters. I'm soo excited about our decision. But I haven't been able to find much updated information on current or recent brides.. Mybe I should start a new Thread. :o)

We also had a Junkanoo at the wedding which was loads of fun and really got the crowd going, changing the vibe completely after some emotional toasting.  I highly recommend this splurge because it blew my guests away and everyone can't stop talking about.

I have pics of my wedding at the Cloisters - you can PM me if you want to see them.

  8. May I ask when your wedding is?   My FI and I are in the process of choosing a date for 2013. We are looking at staying at the Atlantis resort and having our ceremony at the Cloisters at One and Only.

  9. I was wondering the same thing... When should we send out our invites for a desintation wedding?   And if anyone is doing Save the Dates... Do those go out before or after our actual wedding invites? I was thinking of doing engagement announcements to all of our friends and family and then invites to close family and friends. Is there a certain time after the engagement this is suppose to be done?

I am also a little torn about how early to send out invites. The sooner the better?

  10. Thank you for your response!!.. How many people did you have at your reception? Do they put you at one huge table or multiple ones. Would love to see pictures if yall took any. :o)

I had my reception at Luciano's and would recommend them without any hesitation!  Great food, excellent service and beautiful view!  Let me know if you have any questions!

  11. I just wanted to check up and see if you could give me any more insight on the Cloisters and Luciano's? This is exactly my fiance and I's plans and seeing that you was just recently married there, any information would be amazing!! Are main big things we are curious about now is the Cloisters fee and what it includes? And also how much the wedding cake costs.

Wedding Planner - Anne Marie Williams

I love Anne-Marie, she is super maternal, very detailed oriented and willing to go above and beyond.  We were really lucky that she was doing a wedding at the Cloisters and Luciano's the weekend that we were there and we were able to stop by before the wedding to see the setup at both locations.  Throughout our time with Anne-Marie, she was following up with the pick up/drop off and other details for the wedding that day which was awesome because it means that she is very detail oriented.  She also had the 3 string quartet play for us so that we can decide whether we wanted to go with just the violinist or a 3 string and having 3 definitely makes a difference!

Ceremony - Cloisters -  Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.  What more can I say?  I can't imagine being married anywhere else

Reception - Luciano's  - I didnt expect Luciano's food to be so delicious, we were sooooo pleasantly surprised.  The Seafood Wellington was unbelievable and we will probably be advising everyone at the wedding to order it.  The Coconut Panna Cotta was also very yummy. The staff were extremely accommodative, willing to make changes and checking with us after every course.  The outside area is also very spacious. The lights come on after sunset which gives it a very romantic feel, especially when combined with the lights on at the Atlantis across the harbor.  Like the Cloisters, I can't imagine a more perfect setting.  My fiance was sooo happy with my pick

Cake - Swiss Pastry Shop - We had to pay $25 for cake samples which isnt common in NY, but very common in the Bahamas.  Either way, the cakes by Manfred were delicious, but be careful because the cakes he provides at the tasting are whipped cream with sponge cake.  If you want fondant, he usually makes it with pound cake which means that it will probably taste different from the cake samples.  If possible, I would ask to taste their buttercream and fondant cakes as well.

Flowers - Wildflowers - Can't say much yet but Natalie spent 2 hours talking with us.  She will be doing a sample setup for us to see if we like it. Anne-Marie uses Wildflowers for 90% of her weddings.  I'll give more feedback on them when I see some samples.  However my first impression is that you should know what you want and don't want because they may over recommend

Makeup - Regina - Recommended by Anne-Marie.  I paid $100 for a test, but i looooved her.  She put eyelash extensions on me and it was gorgeous!

Overall we had a really great experience and can't wait to have our wedding in Dec!

  12. Hello all my fellow brides out there!. And Congratulations!!smile159.gif

I love reading all of the forums just to see where everyone is getting married. And haven't seen a thread such as this one.

So, what is your wedding date and what is the destination you have chosen or leaning towards?..

Mine: May or June 2013, and so far we are leaning most towards the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas and our ceremony at the cloisters. We are just awaiting more information from our TA and the wedding coordinators.

  13. I was thinking of doing beach buckets as well at first.. But I too was worried about transportation of the buckets.. And if I put them all in one suitcase I was afraid they would get cracked and tore up before they made it to the destination. :o( I know the airport luggage people aren't too kind with our luggage. But maybe this one be a great google search from past brides who may have had the same idea and great packing tips.
