  1. Shannon,

I was just thinking about you and wondering how your BD shoot went.  Glad to hear that you enjoyed your experience and that you were happy with your pics.   Good call with MAC, this is definitely a good option if hair and makeup isnâ€t included in BD package

I still canâ€t decide when I want to present them.  Iâ€m either think during the first look or on our wedding night.  Either way, I really want to be there and witness his reaction first hand.

And Congrats on your new home.

I'm an April bride but this forum has by far helped me the most in my planning journey.  Sharing ideas and support and keeping it active!  I leave in the morning for Cayman and I'm so excited that the time is finally here! I'll be back to report on my experience!

Congrats and enjoy the moment. You're going to be a beautiful bride and I can't wait for the recapn and pics upon your return.

  4. I cringe every time I see a 1 or star posting on trip advisor.  I try to read these with a grain of salt, but when there's consistency in the types of complaints being written, I become very worried, but also happy that we will only be there for 4 nights.

Per a conversation with my TA regarding the over booking issue, she did confirm that it happens (and not just at Now Jade) and can be an issue but only for those who book independently through sites like hotels.com, orbitz.com etc. since the reservations are being made at that instant, but there is a delay in reconciling these reservations directly with the resorts.  This is the benefit of having a room block or booking directly with a resort since it's truly the only 100% guaranteed reservation.  It would be nice if they notified prior to arrival, but they donâ€t for whatever reason.

  6. So sad that my Bachelorette Party weekend is over, but it was great fun and suprsingly didn't result in the worst hangover of my life.  But I also consumed more water and coconut water in the 48hours than I thought was humanly possible, but it was a great pay-off. I was able to rally for brunch on Sunday and enjoyed a few bloody mary's.  It was the perfect weekend to start off the next 4 weeks of sobriety.

  8. So after hours of searching through 100's of veils (no exaggeration), I found the perfect veil and I'm sooo in love with it, but it's too long.  Does any know anything or have any experience with veil alterations?  There are lace appliques along the perimeter and the 2 rows of piping shown are actually rows of 2mm seeded pearls.  I have my second fitting on Saturday and will show detailed pics to my seamstress, but was curious as to whether an of my BDW brides have any experience with this.

The one I'm going to in Elk Grove is $115 for a full set and they last 6-8 weeks. I know it's a splurge, but I decided I deserved it haha :) Of course my FI thinks they're absurd, but whatever.

He won't think they're absurd once he's see's them; they're kind of sexy!  When I get a fresh set, I give my eyes about 2 days rest from removal of the old set.   My Fi's first question... When are you getting your lashes back on?

I know what you mean, isn't it awful.  My productively has diminished over the past two weeks, but I'm also long overdue for a vaca.  I'm so excited for you, especially since your wedding venue and accommodations were my top choices when we decided on a DW.  If only you had my top choice for photography would I truly be jealous.

My May 2013 brides better come back and share a few picks and highlights from their wedding day. I'm so happy for all of us, especially since I've been corresponding with most of you for over a year now.

  14. Insanity is definitely a commitment worth making, and I know you ladies can complete it with great success. Just work through the DVDs at your own pace.

Kara - regarding your back pain, never sacrifice your form... this is more important than the number of reps you can do or how quickly (pace) you can get through the workout. I had similar issues during my first week, and once i took the care to execute the moves properly, I was much better off.  And around week 2, the nauseating feeling that coincided with my workouts subsided. The weight will come off before you know it and you will look flawless on your wedding day

Thank you!  I actually wen with a happy medium... I left the lace intact but altered the underlayer to a modified sweetheart it will be similar to this, but the lace overlay won't come up as high. But I think it's a win win!

I think I'm having a minor meltdown (lol I'm dramatic).

I found my dress (Mori Lee 4968) this past Saturday and I am in love with it. But I really wanted a sweetheart neckline. My bridal consultant assured me that with alterations I can make a sweetheart neckline.

Here's the thing, I happened to be looking at the designer's website and stumbled across a very similar dress (Mori Lee 3124) with the sweetheart neckline I wanted. The other problem is that style only comes in plus size (which I am not).

So I was wondering if I would be able to request the designer to customize my dress to have the neckline that I want. I don't see it being a problem because they're both the same designer. I plan on calling them first thing Monday morning.

Are there any other brides out here that was able to have something done like that?

Love this dress and it looks fantastic on you!  Any good seamstress can make this alteration and should be pretty cost effective.  The only two considerations that I would make is that if you alter it after production, you may only be able to achieve a modified sweetheart due to the rouching (sp?), I would just confirm this. Also, one advantage of having Mori Lee customize this for you, is that the bodice at the bust line has a the cross-over detail which couldnâ€t be achieved in alterations.  But the cost for Mori Lee to do this customization could be double if not triple and in all honesty not really necessary unless the details shown are a deal breaker for you.

  16. I just came back from my first fitting and absolutely love, love, love my dress (and my seamstress). I requested that it be made a little tighter at the hips, but she said that if she brought it in any further, I'd have a hard time sitting down (which makes sense); however, while standing, I feel like the dress looks a little lose around the hip area and doesn't put as much emphasis on the mermaid sihouette as I woudld like. It's not super loose, but it's not hugging my hips the way the rest of the dress does.

Anyway, I left my appoint not 100% loving how it looks around my hips and I feel like I'll be standing 80% of the time anyway - who needs to sit, right? If you wore a mermaid/trumpet dress, how tight was it? Any problems with sitting, if so did you really care? Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

    Feel free to post photos.

    Thanks!!

I think it will look amazing with the rest of the dress and give it a detail that is unique to only you.

This is exactly what I ended up doing because it's the only thing that my lace would permit.  The scalloped edge was not a seperate piece of material, it was the was the edge of lace pattern itself so there was no option to take it off and put it back on. So the placement of the lace remains the same as in the pics, but the construction of the dress is now with a modified sweetheart.  But what I wanted was for the scalloped edge to follow the shape/outline of the sweetheart. We'll see how it looks when I go back and my fingers are crossed. Since I have never seen a single dress finished this way, I'm nervous that it'll look stupid. But my seamstress wanted to try it first before cutting the actual lace, and I trust her vision, but if it doesn't work, we'll just go for the second pic shown.

super random question: those of you that have white linen button down shirts for groomsmen, are you planning on them wearing undershirts (t-shirt) or nothing underneath at all, I am the most clueless person when it comes to menswear I think. My fiancé suggested the ribbed cotton undershirts but I know those will show and look horrible.

we just tested this out Firday night and found that medium grey was a good option, but I'm heading to the mall in a bit and will have my eyes open for a light tan (nude) shirt which I think would be the best if I can find it. Granted he's not wearing a linen shirt, but a white dress shirt, but the issue is still the same. I figure if we apply the same rules when selecting a bra under a white shirt then then it should work for our guys too.
