Thank-you!! I know I'm way ahead of the game, but I'm super busy all summer with other people's weddings (I'm a photographer) so I figured I better get on it now when I've got the free time
-
I would suggest wearing gloves! I didn't the first time and totally wrecked my nails. For the frames I was smarter and got latex gloves which made clean-up much simpler. Also, for the first couple of tries I would leave the glaze on less time that you think. Wipe off, see how dark it is and you can always add more. The good thing about it is it's meant to be random and imperfect, which is good becasue it's really hard to know what the end product will be!
The font on our names is Scriptina Pro (one of my faves!!)
I'd share - do you have Photoshop though? That's the clincher -
I figured I should just start a thread with my goodies, since I'll be going along and wanted to share in case anyone else gets some ideas from my stuff, I figured I post it as I go along. They'll be lots more to come, as I'm not getting married until January, but here's what we have so far:
My Birdesmaid invitation boxes Just something I pulled together with a little creativity at the local dollarstore. I really wanted a different and super special way of inviting my girls!
My Save-the-Dates. I designed these up in Photoshop and then just had them printed on 4" x 6" photos, and attached them to magnets (I cut up self-adhesive biz card magnets from Staples and stuck them on the back).
My self-designed logo (again, Photoshop). We'll likely use this for some of the tags as well as the mugs I'm going to get screen printed.
My centerpieces *I think* I saw something really cool this weekend that may make it's way into these plans and flows a bit more of the vintage feel into it, which I'll of course add here if I do!! Again, dollar store cheapy vases and Orchids from Jysk (surprisingly good quality). Pardon the crappy cell phone pic . I think I'll have some scatter gems mixed with seashells around these.
My card box. I love this one! I cam across this treasure chest at Jysk for $15 and I just loved it, but I really want some more vintagey" feeling things at the wedding. So, I painted it up and antiqued it. A very messy but fun process.
My "vintage" table number photo frames! Again, a steal at the Dollarama, they are actually $1 plastic frames (which is perfect because they weigh NOTHING for travel). I spray-painted them (using a spray paint meant for plastic) and then used my same paint/glazing method as I did for the box. I'm not sure this is my final design for the numbers themselves, but that's what I've come up with so far, that co-ordinates with my other Photoshop designs so far.
That's it so far! I hope to have lots more to show you (lord knows I have a head full of ideas, whether they actually work or not, that's a different story!!)

So how's everyone doing so far? I had a stagette to go to on Saturday night, and I must admit fell off the boat a LITTLE bit (IE drinks were had), but I have full intentions of being completley booze free until mid April when we head to Vegas for the wedding I am in! I want to look good for the pool! I've been pushing harder on the weights lately. My FI has gotten a lot more on board with my efforts and makes it to the gym with me about half the time, which is great. I think I'll be bold enough to post my "before" photos for the start of April. Should give me good motivation to push hard until our April 18th departure!! Good luck this week ladies, work hard!

It was me! Thank-you! Do you think you could send me the info you have, I don't have that pricing anywhere? [email protected]

I thought I would share the project I just finished. I found this chest at Jysk a few weeks back for $15 and saw some potential for a more vintage, buried treasure kind of a vibe, which is what I'm after.
I found the directions for antiquing here and followed it loosely. I was thinking of having the lid open with one of those cute little flag banners that says "cards"
So after much paint, rags and mess here it is!

Fantastic work, everything looked amazing, you had a stunning wedding!

This is terrible! I'm so sorry people are making you feel awful about your decision! I am honestly stunned that people feel so entitled to tell you what they think, I would absoluteyl lose if someone went on and on insulting my choice. You're entitled to your option but when it's comes to anything such as someone's wedding, unless it's to shower the bride and groom with affection you keep it to your freakin' self. Good lord! That would be like insulting the wedding that someone put on the day after "well it was OK, but I would have done this and this and this..." Just not cool.

so i mentioned the date/location on my wedding, and received 30 minute speech (which was only the beginning!!!) from a friends aunt on "why you should get married here in your fiances hometown". and then this woman repeatedly asked "so where are you getting married then, here or there?"....and i had to keep saying that my plans were set and no, i wasnt going to change my plans despite what she thought. and she kept saying that people like her wouldnt be able to attend if it was in cancun....i didnt think it was very polite to say she wasnt on the guest list so i didnt know why she cared so much, but i was getting increasingly stressed as every comment i made was just completely rejected. its like what i thought didnt matter at all, despite it being my wedding!
there were other comments too "i heard youre engaged!! youll be getting married here, right?" and they seemed completely shocked when i said no.
after seriously well over an hour of this, i stood up and made an impromptu speech in pretty terrible spanish to the entire table about why having a massive wedding in his hometown wasnt what i wanted and that if people couldnt attend...oh well, as i wanted a small wedding anyway! i also pointed out our families (and of course my fiance) were in agreement that a small wedding on the beach was a good idea!! in his town if you have an event you invite everyone and their dog (especially given fiances father is a well known local politician with lots of friends and contacts he would feel olbiged to invite) and its not what i want!!
it kind of ruined my night though. surely theres a point when someone has expressed what they want, that its just simply rude to keep pushing your opinion on them?!

What do you girls use when you need a sweet fix? I'm a bit strange in that I love going to the gym, no issues with motivation there. My biggest issue is diet. I find at like 3:00 at work I'm crashing and will do anything for junk food? Not really hungry, kind of bored I think... Suggestions? Your fav healthy snack that really hits the spot?

I thought I saw it here, but I can't find it now....Did anyone ask about Sky Lanterns on the beach?

I just got my first wedding Etsy purchase today! I'm so excited, I love them!
I got six of these necklaces made (one for each of my 4 BM's, and then for FH's 2 sisters, just cuz ). I'm so pleased, they are smaller than they appear in the photo, really little and delicate, I can't believe I have to wait till January to give them to the girls!
The seller was allstrunout1, here's a link to her shop. Highly recommend her!

Woohoo!! OK, I shall weigh myself tonight at the gym so I can get ready, ahhhhhh I'm scuuuuured!!!
And whoever said the no judgements thing is right on!

How about the 15th since it's coming up?
I say we start a new thread *and whoever wants to* can post photos and measurements for the start.
We can report bi-weekly weigh-ins/reoprting, and whoever is doing the photo/measurement thing can do it every other month or so? What do you ladies think? We can use that thread to share any great recipes or workouts that are working great for us too!
I need this extra push right now, I'm a BM in my friends Vegas wedding in a month and a half, yikes!!

In case anyone follows Kimberly Snyder, I've decided to start doing the Green Smoothie as my breakfast (not sure how much of the meal plan of hers I will follow, I still need to read more). This sounds great, and I think it will be a great way to work towards cleaning up my diet for the better!!
Check it out: http://www.kimberlysnyder.net/blog/2009/07/11/green-smoothie-recipe/
Also, it's FINALLY gettting warmer up here in Alberta and I've re-discovered how much I love running outside!! I'm pumped for that and want to really push hard. Thankfully I have a very energetic Labby who really pushes me hard. Best running partner you can find is a dog
