The way me and my FI looked at it was WE will be there and WE matter the most! We are also not having an at home reception so this is the only time to celebrate with us, and after lots of thinking about it we were ok with it if not many people showed up. I say keep your chin up and people will eventually book, and in the mean time if you need to vent come on here and do it with us :o)

Agree w/ FireyNurs! As long as you and your immediate family who will be booking soon will be there, that's all that matters. Celebrate the two of you! msnparty.gif

I wasnt sure if we were going to have enough people to do a block and if that would affect the price when the time comes to stay. I also said to check the website for more info and on there I included the same hotels from the invitations with a little more detail including the price. I also said to try your favorite travel site to get the best deal.

We chose to use the same hotel that we always use when traveling. We also were against the block for the same reason Cattie stated; we already have enough on our plates.

I like this idea of just giving everyone options as to where to book their rooms. I'm in the process of getting this together now too! Thank you.

However, if you're having an embarkation day wedding, you might want to set up private transportation to make sure you get to the port on time. Their shuttle was CHAOS and didn't start until late morning. I would have paid for a private one if I could do it over.

We didn't have an embarkation day wedding, so I'm not 100% sure about hair & make-up in Miami. I don't know who Carnival uses for their vendor, but I know other girls have spoken highly of Tiffany from Professional Elegance www.professionalelegance.com and Beauty by Noel www.beautybynoel.com.

Thank you for this post! We just booked our flight to Miami a few wks. ago and are now in the process of looking into hotels.  I was informed also that Days Inn, Hampton Innn, Best Western & Hilton hotels provide pick up from airports and shuttle to the ports. We have about 55-60 folks coming with us so a cab may be a better option for everyone to make sure we get there on time as well.

Here is what they look like so far:

We are having an AHR so the wording of the invitations has been the hardest! Let me know what you ladies think and if you have any ideas on how to make it less confusing for people.

    Thanks!

We got engaged in July this summer, shortly after the engagement my fiancé had a horrible motorcycle accident which put him into the intensive care unit for a full month where I was just forced to hold my breath and wait. He miraculously overcame six surgeries and was able to walk out of the hospital 3 month after his accident. As of now he has about a year of rehabilitation and therapy to go through and we knew as soon as he is fully recovered we wanted to celebrate in a HUGE way. We decided on a destination wedding for us and our family because it will be a week long celebration of life together. After everything we have gone through it will be an amazing feeling to relax in paradise with family and friends we love.

Our first trip together was to Jamaica and thats also where we fell in love with the destination and each other. We set the date for April 2014 and pray he will be fully recovered by then :)

This is a picture of us in Jamaica a few years ago, and there other one is of us now.

Wow! Amazing story! Best wishes to you both and to great planning and a life long of happiness together!

Yeah, you need at least 150 posts to d/l attachments. Maybe Googling it will help somehow unless they email you the doc.

I'm starting to make passport invitations with vistaprint postcards for the cover/1st and last page, and vistaprint flyers for the inner pages, it is a little tricky to make them the right size so I had to reorder my covers and I have another page coming, but this is what I have so far Click the image to open in full size. The best "vistaprint advice" is when you can use advanced editing you can replace an image and search the vistaprint image library for whatever image you are looking for.. it beats uploading an image which costs extra... other advice, sign up for the emails or go to vistaprint.com/boxdeals and you get this stuff for free, you just have to pay for shipping, choose the longest shipping time, you will always get it sooner than expected. Feel free to ask my any questions as I have obviously played with the site a lot.

Wow! That's' pretty awesome! Your passport invite looks great too! What does your luggage tag say by the way? I'm thinking about giving luggage tags for our gests as well :)

  10. We're getting married at St. Thomas and are going on a Carnival Cruise March next year. We are not, however, using their services since it's much much more pricier. When my FI both decided on where we're having it, I was able to browse around the forums here and that's how I found my WC. We're using Island Bliss Wedding and working w/ Janelle. It'll just be a simple ceremony with a casual lunch after since my compromise w/ my mother was having a reception back hom for folks that won't be able to make it out.

My DIY on the trip will be the corsage for the bridesmaids. Majority are for the reception here :) Best of luck!

    Thanks!

  11. Congrats!! I hope you find a destination that you both will love and enjoy. My FI and went to our first cruise trip for a friend's wedding last year and we just got engaged at that time too. From expriencing that, we both decided that it would be really fun to take a vacation w/ our family and friends for our wedding. It's a rarity to have that happen in one's lifetime so we thought, why not. :) We went to the Western Caribbean so we decided on the Eastern this time around. Once we decided on that, forums in here helped me find a coordinator and that's how my planning start. Best of luck!

The only stipulation we have is that we want to have it in a country we have no yet visited, so our choices exclude:
    - Mexico
    - Turks & Caicos
    - Cuba
    - Spain (although we're thinking we'll save Europe for the honeymoon anyway)

My question to you lovely ladies is, how did you decide where you wanted to go? Do you have any pointers at how to narrow down the choices?

Thanks for your help! I look forward to sharing ideas and gushing with all of you! cat.gif
