  1. Hey Noelle, Having a TA help you with your wedding will make your life much easier. You can focus on the decorations, music, flowers, dress, goodie bags, etc. and your agent will make sure all your guests get down to your wedding. Travel Agent rates are almost always better than the rates offered on the resort web site. The first step is getting group quotes for your resort and travel dates.... once you find a travel agent that you enjoy working with and who has provided you with decent rates, you can enter into a contract and have a certain number of rooms reserved for your group. Then all of your guests will just contact your travel agent to book their vacation and you no longer have to worry about it. When you book a group, you also get extra perks/amentities that you won't get if all your guests book independently... for example, for my destination wedding in February, we got every 16th passenger free... so we ended up getting over $1000 back because we had 40 guests. I had a destination wedding in Punta Cana in February, and since I'm a travel agent, I was able to do all the group booking myself for our 40 guests. If you want me to get you a group quote for your wedding, just PM me on here or email me at [email protected]. Hope that helps! ~Jess
  2. I just checked, and the rate I can get for February 2013 is: Jacuzzi Junior Suite: $137 per person per night in a double room, $123 in a triple, and $115 in a quad. RT airport transfer is $50. Majestic Junior Swim Up: $148 per person per night in a double Colonial Junior Suite with outdoor jacuzzi: $158 per person per night in a double Every 21st passenger is free. (Money for room is credited back to bride/groom.) Also, one free round of golf for any guest staying 5 nights or more.
  3. Hey there. I'm having my wedding at the Majestic Colonial next Saturday (Feb 18th), so basically the same time of year as yours, just a year earlier. I booked all the travel for my guests because I am a part-time travel agent and can get pretty good group rates. My guests are paying about $115/nt double occupancy... and I recently got quotes for a wedding at the Elegance in May, and those rates were $116/nt dbl. So if you want me to check for your wedding to, send me a private message with your email, dates, which resort, etc and I can check for you. What I did for my wedding was book a block of rooms, and then each of my guests paid a $50 deposit to hold their spot, and then the balance was due 2 months before travel. You also get perks for booking groups such as every 16th passenger free. I'm actually flying to Punta Cana for my wedding tomorrow morning, so I may be a little slower than usual responding to emails for the next week.
  4. They told you that you would hav to pay for carry on? That's strange because AirTran does not charge for carry on's... you get one carry on and one personal item each... Spirit is the only airline that I know of that charges for carry-ons. Our wedding is at the Majestic Colonial and we leave next Tuesday morning. (the 14th)
  5. Gotcha. I have 10 guests flying down on American too... I arranged a 5% discount on American, and a 10% discount on AirTran.... and the AirTran flights ended up being $200 cheaper than American (from Chicago), so that's why we went with them. But we'll probably spend $100 each way on checked bags.
  6. Bride2012 - What airline are you flying down to Punta Cana that is giving you each a free checked bag? Just wondering, because we are flying down to Punta Cana on AirTran for our wedding next Saturday (Feb 18) and I think we have to pay for all of our checked bags. (We'll have 3 or 4 I think.)
