Hi Susanita, I am booked for November 26 if they can get the judge. If the judge cannot make it for your time slot then you will have a symbolic ceremony, and when the judge arrives you will just sign the papers with him. I am getting married locally just before we leave, and will just have a symbolic ceremony in the DR,(we won't be telling any of our guests though). I found out I will be saving close to $1000 by doing this as judge services went up to $500 I believe, and for me to translate my documents will cost me another $550. I was nervous about the judge too that's why I opted to just have a symbolic ceremony. Hope this helps!

That is strange...I haven't contacted my photographer yet, but my wedding in November 2011, and Yessica told me I have time to cancel with Michael Weiler. I have emailed Yessica asking her to direct me to someone who can shed some light on this situation. When I get a contact I'll update here.

I agree! This is so ridiculous! If it hadn't been for US emailing them we wouldn't have known. Maybe we can appeal to whoever makes these rules to have it apply only to those who booked after the rule change. Sorry to hear about your deposit Raq....this is so upsetting!

Hello ladies, I just got an email from my WC saying that they are no longer accepting external suppliers and said I still have time to cancel with Michael W. since my wedding isn't until November. Has anyone else confirmed this with their WC? Mine is Yessica. I HOPE this is a mistake I was really looking forward to working with Michael. I told her that I booked with him prior to March 17, I hope she did not misunderstand.

How does this work? is it the resort that gives the free room? or the airline you booked with?

Hi Raq I'm getting married exactly 10 days after you! I was contemplating the cocktail hour also. I may consider it once I have my final numbers. Since we only get 3 hours for the reception though it might be a good idea to have the cocktail hour, otherwise if you wanted to add another hour to the reception it's an exta $10pp. The chair covers they provide, but I will be buying all my sashes here since its so easy to transport. Hi Mellly, You should pick your resort and book now. I will be getting married on 11/26/11 and I have been booked since January. Everyone has their own way of doing this, but I found a flight first, contacted a wedding coordinator to see if the date I wanted is available, and booked immediately. The WC's are very busy and get hundreds of emails a day so it may take some time for them to get back to you. Hope this helps! Good luck and happy planning

Any brides planning on 'trashing' their dress? I was thinking about it, but only if it can be cleaned to its original state (or close to) after. I have asked multiple dress shops if 'trashing the dress' actually ruins it, and they all made a face. I guess they don't like to hear about beautiful dresses getting ruined.

My fiance and I are staying for 2 weeks. We paid in full when we did the group booking, and they applied our full amount as a deposit to hold 10 rooms. Our guests have until the end of March to pay in full, (Our wedding is in November). I also have until the end of March to cancel any held rooms without penalty. Some of our guests cannot make it for the day we picked, so they can also book through our travel agent for another date. Others cannot commit this early so they may book closer to November. My travel agent is also my aunt so I know she is on my side. Just make sure if you are holding any rooms to ask what is the penalty if they cannot be filled. In my case $400 deposit was able to hold 1 room. ($200pp)

Is anyone bringing their own chair covers/sashes? or renting from the resort?

I made group booking available, but guest have the option to book on their own if they don't like my pick. So far I think its about 50/50.

I might redo depending on cost. How noticeable is the error?
