Chrissy, I am glad that your experience is good with her. All my guests gave her a chance but she was not very quick to respond to their emails. She would've gotten my guests' bookings if she would've given them more competitive pricings from the gecko. It's kind of funny that you have Barbara Hylton too.

karina [[email protected]] Gabi Lavor [[email protected]] I had quotes from both and I find Deco Cancun a tad bit cheaper. Good luck

What I did was I read the first 50 pages and then I skipped to page 400 and on. Once you finish reading everything, you can go back to those pages that you haven't read. There's definitely and abundant amount of information on here and you will get more creative reading this blog in regards to your wedding. The $300 an hour is the price the resort is charging, yes it's quite ridiculous but they made it so all the DJ's that are an approved vendor must abide by this price. I've heard from past brides that the ipod is quite a pain since the technician does not speak very good English. You still have to pay $180 an hour for the technician so might as well add another $120 and get a DJ:) At first I was quite nervous about the whole not being in control and all but since I started relaxing more and not worry too much, everything is finally falling into places. There are only two approved DJ at this time which is DJ Neri (heard he suck) and DJ [email protected] . I had initially booked DJ Julian Molina but since he did not agree with the resort's contract, they didn't approve him. He had worked out a deal with DJ Edgar as a contractor therefore I booked DJ Edgar but requested for DJ Julian Molina to play our our wedding. He said that he will be the DJ but he is not allowed to bring any of his equipments except for his laptop so he will be using the resort's equipments. As far as Travel Agency, I initially went with Destination Weddings and our agent is Barbary Hylton. She is the worst agent I've ever dealt with. I booked our package back in November and requested all the guests to go through her but she did not respond to them in a timely manner. Their prices were about 500-1000 higher than other online agencies. I did some research and found that Bookit.com had the most competitive pricing so all of my guests booked their packages through bookit.com. Bookit also offers a buy 5 room get the 6th free so if you have a lot of guests you should look into that. Anywhoo last week, one of our family decided to buy our room for us and so I asked Destination Weddings to cancel our room and keep our flights. Our flights are paid in full and they were giving us a hard time about cancelling our room at Dreams. They made us paid 90 dollars each in penalties because we are not booking the rooms with them. Let me just say, I am more stressed out about dealing with Destination Weddings than dealing with the resort. Beware of Destination Weddings, just warning those that are thinking about using them. Sorry for the long email, I had to vent lol.

Congratulations you gotten the hardest part out of the way, now for all the fun stuff. I suggest reading this whole blog, it's extremely informative and it will answer most of the questions that you have. As far as the outside vendors and entertainment; things might change in a few months but right now they are charging 55 for an outside vendor fee but they must be an approved vendor. As far as DJ goes, there are two approved DJs as of now and they charge 300 an hour. As you're reading along, most of the past brides will say, don't worry too much b/c everything will fall into pieces as you get closer to your wedding date. Have fun and Good Luck

Lily, I believe the outside vendor fee is like 55 or 65, I forgot. I find that it's not just the resort that is inconsistent with their pricings it's the outside vendors too. I was getting a quote from Deco Cancun and they are quoting me so high compared to one of the past bride from here. I wrote to them and they said b/c the person that was there before made a mistake and she is no longer with them now. In general, I believe the whole country does not have a set price, they can set whatever price they want and it is damn frustrating.

Tigerlily, You're so lucky you work near a Michael's. I've been wanting to go there but I forget as my day gets crazy busy. I will add it to my calender b/c it seems like there are so many wonderful things to browse at Michael's. I am so mad at myself b/c I was going to buy these gorgeous sashes on ebay and just this past weekend I came back and it's all sold out. I hope the seller will get my colors again, it was sooo beautiful and cheap too. Boo hoo, now I know when I want something, I need to buy it right away and not think twice.

Just a thought: We booked our room through Destination Wedding Because we ended up having about 20 rooms booked so far. Perhaps you can have your guests book it through this online company. I must say, I bought my sisters and parents trip through book it and they are absolutely great. They are so on top of it. I am not getting anything out of this but they delivered the best customer service throughout our whole experience. Good Luck:)

Brooke, That's what I am doing too. Been going to the gym more than I have for the past year lol. I am also doing the P90x. A month before my wedding I am also going to do a 20 day master cleanse. That will get me all skinny and my skin will be sooo glowy. I've done a 10 day master cleanse in the past so I think this time I will try a 20 day:) My sister and aunt both dropped so much weight before their wedding and they didn't even diet, they just said it's from stressing but my problem is that I do not lose weight from stress lol.

By the way, if you hire Avi as the DJ you can now request for DJ Julian Molina. He is side contracting with them, the only thing is he is not allowed to bring his own equipments and he has to abide by the $300 per hour rule. I am booking him b/c I have heard from past brides that he is good, I don't trust DJ Neri or whatever his name is. DJ Molina is so on top of it and I know he is looking out for our best interests.

Sacrock, I sent my bridesmaid a picture of your bridesmaid dress and they all love it. My maid of honor will be wearing a different dress inspired by Liz Fields too, # 359. My other 3 bridesmaid will be wearing style #362, I hope that will be ok with you. I have been sending them so many pictures of different bridemaid's dresses and they weren't too excited about it but with the the Liz Fields style, they were unamimous, Wow.........Thank you for sharing my dear:)

I am in the same position as you TigerIily. I have been with my fiance for five years and we own a house together. We don't need anything and the things that I do like on the registry are a little on the expensive side lol. Since I am Vietnamese, I did send everyone an email with information on the Vietnamese wedding etiquette. In our culture it is considered good luck to give the newlyweds cash or checks lol, I was wondering if it's weird if we say cash, checks or gift cards since I we don't need anything from Macy's or Bath Bed and Beyond lol. I know my family will give me cash regardless but to to the other guests that are not Vietnamese I wonder how they will feel about this hmmm. I rather people not give us anything but I know that will not be the case, any thoughts?

Emily, I was thinking the same thing as well:) We invited about 175 people and so far only 60 is coming so I was also thinking of sending the invitations to those who are going. I don't feel the need to send to those that have declined, whats the point right? We are getting married in July so I need to send our invitations out in April. There are lots of nice and cheap invitations on Costco.com.
