Tris, Try again with her.. I have already confirmed my choice (the Italian) She also advised I could mix and match items from menu 1, 2 & 3 as I said I did not like all items in each choice. I have eaten at both restaurants, and my choice was the Italian. It's smaller and more intimate although a decent walk from the lobby. God help me and my feet that day, they will be killing me!! Tris, My wedding is at 4:30pm, come watch my ceremony and come introduce yourself I look forward to it! We have 24 people confirmed to come right now and more and more are booking last minute as the prices have dropped.. tick me off!! Chandlyn told me that the new prices are for 2012 ONLY and it's not her who made up the rates.. It's coming directly from her head office for Bahia Principe and she has no control over the price and she cannot change them...

I emailed her last night and got replies from her same evening.

Just got a reply from Chandlyn.. WOW fastest reply EVER!!! I sent her the NEW long form birth certificates from Nova Scotia - they have a hologram on them as well have their own stamp on them certifying they are originals.

Tris - I too ordered my long form birth certificates.. Our new ones have holograms and a raised stamp and I scanned and emailed these to Beverly & Chandlyn. I am still trying to confirm whether it is ok what I've sent. I also scanned and emailed the passports. I'm thinking what I sent is just fine, I too paid 70 for my new BC to get the long form, I can't afford another 300 in fees!! I'm emailing Chandlyn again now. I will keep you posted. Erin

Just out of curiousity.. when they say they want "NOTORIZED" copies sent to the hotel 2 month in advance do you think they really mean that.. ?? I sent my BC & Passport copies via email (scanned) a few weeks ago and they were NOT notorized. I haven't heard a peep from Chandlyn about this.. I'm just kinda freaking now thinking they will need something else from me?? ugh why can't they just reply to emails when they're labled URGENT... oh my nerves!!! Tris, I know you're getting married in April too, did you send notorized copies or just regular copies?

She is gone gone... I just emailed them last night asking who was taking over my wedding and also to reconfirm my date and time as I was worried I was going to get over looked and woudl be double booked. The assistant Chandlyn now has the title of Wedding planner at the GBP. She did not reply what happened to Beverly but assured me she would be handling the wedding for me. Kinda freaked me out a bit as Bev and I had already discussed so much, I now just worry it will all get overlooked. Let's hope she kept really good notes!!!

When I stayed here on my personal vacation last May I tipped my maid every other day, bartenders as and when they were giving exceptional service, waiters at the a la cartes.. again if service was great.. I don't think the WC really needs to be tipped.. I mean isnt' that her job? I'm a travel agent.. I don't get tipped by my clients if I find them a great price.. I also don't get tipped for exceptional service.. I always had a few $1.00 bills in my pocket for people who provided great service. The staff didn't really expect tips.. they're not like in the DR, Cuba or Mexico at all..

OMG I got a quote today for $200 for the webstreaming!! from the same fella. If you really want the webstream beat him down on the price.. his reply was this to me today.. O'Neil - It cost US $200.00 to stream the ceremony, I would have to know asap if you want to do this because I am getting a lot o bookings for jobs. Me - Hi there. Ok thanks for the quote. I will discuss with my man and will let u know but I doubt he will want to pay that much for the few people who would watch it. Most will be there with us. O'Neil - Ok let me konw maybe we can work something out So looks like you are able to beat them down on the price.. I have decided NOT to go with the webstream.. not necessary in my situation

We've decided not to do the OOT bags as I've been to a destination wedding before and I can say 90% of the stuff in the OOT bag we received we didn't even use once! It was my sisters wedding and i felt horrible knowing how much $$ and time she put into these and to have them go to waste. Instead we've decided to give our guests a travel mug (I bought the really good Contigo ones from Costco at about 10 bucks a pop) I've had personalized stickers made with our wedding date, name and a starfish on it.. This way people will at least be able to remove the sticker and re-use the mugs when they go home. I thought the idea of a travel mug was perfect as I never go on vacation without one!! These ones from Costco really do keep your drink cold for HOURS!!! I'm gonna give them to everyone before we leave for the wedding so I don't have to lug them all down. I will put each persons tickets etc inside the mugs and personally deliver them (or mail the ones that live away) I just bought them the other day, and received the stickers yesterday so as soon as I have one put together I will post a pic.

Update from one of my clients who I just sent to this resort last week.. I asked them to have an overall look over the hotel cause I know there is construction going on there right now (they're building another wing to this property) They said the 2nd pool bar was closed the entire time they were there.. and the construction was pretty bad.. noisy and dusty.. Sure hope they get a move on this and get it finished up before we all head down for our weddings!! As I get more feedback I will update you all. I've stayed here already so am not worried about the food or service.. what I am worried about is scaffolding etc in the background for photos.. When looking at the hotel from the beach (as showing in all photos) they are currently building a new wing to the left of the resort. Where the 2nd pool bar is, directl in front of it.. that would prob explain why the 2nd bar was closed the entire week..

Hey Guys, here are the ones I've made... I used the left over paper & ribbon from my invitations and got these business card self laminating sheets from the dollar store. So really, it's cost me next to nothing!!

They now have the attractions brochures in as well. I received mine the other day.

closest bar to the steakhouse grill restaurant is either the pool bar (it's on 2 levels.. one side of it in the pool one side of it above the pool on ground level) or the lobby / piano bar is only a short walk away and a set of stairs up. I'd say meet at the lobby/piano bar, it's much nicer than the pool bar and has seating. The pool bar is standing only.

Well the swim up bar is great!! it's large enough for a big group of people and one thing I really liked about the Bahia's pool is there is a shallow edge of the pool directly across from the swim up bar.. it's only about 6 inches deep and about 8 feet wide and about 30 feet long.. it's basically a great sun tanning and drinking ledge for us ladies while the boys are playing pool games and getting us drinks!! I spent a good majority of my time on this ledge hanging out and sunning myself!

I'll be the one with all the tattooed guys!! haha 3 or 4 of our guys have a lot of ink... full sleeve tattoos etc. I'll be easy to find if you see any of those guys just ask them to point you in my direction!! hahaha

Missy, the weather in May was fantastic!!! Mostly sunny, a cloudy day here and there but nothing to ruin our trip. I always go away the 1st week of May cause I seem to get lucky with weather that week!! I wanted to get married on the 3rd of May but the day was already booked all they had for me was an 11am ceremony!! no thank you!! haha You'll love this property, it's awesome! I sell it all the time and loved it when we stayed there. I had clients there a week ago and they checked on the construction for me and said it didn't get in the way. Have another couple there now returning tonight so I'll speak to them as well and see how the construction is progressing.
