  2. biehnbag - for the slideshow, did you have to bring your own computer? do you know if they have a computer available if we brought a flash drive? and do you know if they will rent the equipment for less than 2 hours? i just want to do a slide show during the dances...
  3. Hey Hammy, What time did your reception start? I remember someone saying that Las Olas closes at 6pm, then it takes an hour for reception set up. Was it ready in time for you?
  4. We paid a deposit of $2500 to reserve a block of 25 rooms (both preferred and non). That deposit goes toward mine and my FI hotel stay and can also go toward whoever else's rooms we want.

I know some of us are stressing over the amount of extra things we are planning on bringing down, and I know this question has been brought up before, but has anyone given any more thought to having things shipped ahead? Does anyone know how customs works with this issue? My wedding isn't until August, but I'm already getting worried I won't have enough bags/people to lug this stuff down!

  8. ChristieAnn - I'm getting married August 6th! We'll probably run into each other! We're doing a beach ceremony. We were at the resort mid August last year and yes, it was a little windy and hot, but nothing too bothersome. There was a beach wedding the weekend we were there and yes, we were one of those gawkers on the side! We thought about all this before choosing this resort and this beach, but the view is just so beautiful! I don't mind if there are a few people watching our wedding....as long as I don't have to feed them
  9. Lisa, I'm wondering about the same issue. I'm putting on our website to please not bring gifts, but there will always be a few who will. I feel like a card box might be too much, but I also know some of my guests will expect it. I might just collect them as they come and put them aside and *hope* I don't lose them...but that might not be wise either!

I'm planning on having my reception at Las Olas too but heard that so many brides who had originally planned to have it there also ended up switching when they saw it. It made me a little skeptical...but now I'm reassured after reading your review! Sounds like you had such a blast! Congratulations!! *** Just wondering what my fellow destination brides are doing in terms of a rehearsal dinner and/or welcome party. Are you going to do them separately? Combine them? I can't decide *** Has anyone already had their Ana Maria-planned wedding? There have been reviews of Pilar and Sandra going above and beyond, just wondering how Ana Maria is. Thanks!
  13. CherryColaLola - I'm working with Ana too and once it took 3 weeks for her to get back to me. I emailed her once a week to "check in" and eventually she responded. Now it's been about 1 week since I've heard from her. That's so nervewracking that you still don't have a quote and you're a month out! I do have an email address for her supervisor, I think...but he's not very good with email promptness either. Have you tried calling?
  14. JessnNeil - Ana is my WC as well and she said that Now Jade no longer allows swaps. If you don't want to use the flowers in the package, then you could do a la carte. I know that there were brides that were able to switch some services for others, but apparently, they don't break the packages apart anymore. I tried too, but got shot down multiple times

  23. I live in the city in the financial district! I work on 68th and York, but my work hours are very far from normal!
  24. Tracy - where did you get the stuff for your survival kits? I wanted to put little med packets also but they get pricey! I work at a hospital (I'm a nurse) and all that stuff is readily available, but I can't steal, haha.
