And thanks to everyone on the nice compliments :)   We were so happy with the whole experience and LOVED our photographer/photos.

I'm so excited for all the gals who are planning their weddings. You are going to LOVE IT!!!!!  I swear, every bride should do a Destination Wedding :)

We had a very small number of guests - only 11 people total, so we did a HUGE "At Home Wedding Reception" at our Ranch in California for 130 people.  That was WAY CRAZIER to plan than our actual wedding in PDC :)

BTW - I wore my dress into the ocean for TTD, and I "cleaned it" - by putting it in the big jacuzzi hot tub in our room. Just filled it up, stuck the dress in, and turned on the jets!  It got all the dirt and sand and ocean water out. LOL!  Then just "hung dry"....my mom pressed it when we got home and it was perfect enough to wear for our First Dance at the At Home Wedding Reception.

I don't think that would have worked with a real silk dress though.....

Good idea about the "dress cleaning" ! My dress is chiffon and I'm wearing it like 3 times. One of those being our AHR.  My mom is super worried about doing the TTD session, I told her not to worry about if, if something happens then something happens what ever, there is nothing I'll be able to do about it.

Try the knot.com. I saw some on there. These are on sale for $4.99, not sure if its what your looking for, but they have some others as well.

  4. Chicago bride - I also have to say I LOVE the dresses they look gorgeous! The only thing I would think about is the first one , what kind of material is it made out of?  I think I would be too hot in it.  I mean I know I am going to be hot in any dress, but it looks satin or taffita.  The other one might be more flowy and airy.  But which ever one you choose will look amazing!

  5. Lisa-   The only thing they said I would have to rent or pay for was (because I'm running it like a cocktail hour) if I wanted the high like barstool chairs at the cocktail tables.  I said no.  The sunbeds were good enough and they said they can put regular chairs around for people to sit if they want.  I think with the food set up and people getting drinks and talking we won't need the high chairs.

  6. ok, I guess I was a little ahead of myself with the posting haha. I feel much better now! :-)

They will pre set-up some of the tables, but they will not be in the way of the ceremony and we will still be able to have our ceremony on the gazebo steps with our guests in chairs on the patio.  I read a great thread from Del Sol photograph on lighting at the gazebo and the photographers recommendation was to have the bride and groom on the top of the steps.  Hence the issues w/the reception set-up.  All taken care of though!

  7. AHHH, I asked my WC about that cause we wanted the same thing, ceremony in the gazebo and reception in the gazebo area.  My WC never said anything about a 2 hour set up! I'm having a cocktail hour in another location and thought that would be plenty of time for them to set up tables. cause my cocktail hour doesn't start until a 1/2 hour after the ceremony.  She hasn't really answered me fully and I guess this is why.

It seems to me like I may be the only person with our wedding event set-up (mainly bc I don't want to deal w/sand).  We are having the ceremony at the Royal gazebo and the reception on the Royal gazebo patio.  I knew this was going to eventually lead to logistical problems, which the wedding coordinators are now understanding.  They have explained that in order for me to have the ceremony on the steps of the gazebo and chairs on the patio, I will need to change the location of the reception bc the tables for the reception will already be set-up.  Of course, I don't want the reception tables and chairs set-up during the ceremony, so we are looking into alternatives.  Maybe we will change the time of the reception to accommodate the 2 hours it takes to set-up.  We'll see what options she comes back with!

  8. Hi, just wanted to let you know Jes raved about a place called El Bistro La Torgua.  and we're having our welcome/rehersal dinner there.  We're doing it more cocktail style but they do offer regular dinners and stuff.  The only thing is I know some other girls on here have tried contacting them and they were told they couldn't have a private dinner there cause they weren't guests there.  But I had no problem.  I can give you the email and name of the guy I'm working with if you'd like.  Their prices are really good and the place is amazing looking.

We just found out that my fiance's dad would like to throw us some sort of dinner the night before the wedding.  He is not staying at the Royal, and we want to explore all of our options.   We'd like to keep the price "reasonable," as in under $700 for 15ish people (not incl. drinks).  Are any of you doing this sort of thing at the resort?  Do you know what they would charge?  Or do you have any suggestions as to where we could go off-site?  Any ideas you all may have would be appreciated.  I need to get on it quick, because the wedding is 2 weeks away.  :-)  Thanks!

  9. Welcome Liz and Michelle and other newbies!

    Kshows very cute card box!

Risa if it helps we are doing an AHR we wanted a really small ceremony so we're inviting about 40 but hoping the aunts and uncles will stay home. (that sounds so bad) but, I didn't like the idea of having everyone staring at me during those quiet moments ( vows, father daughter dance, dance with the groom, cute the cake etc ) I guess I'm just weird like that. I really just want our parents and bridal party to go.   Also being that my FI doesn't really have a big family but mine is HUGE! So when we get back we're having a chinese dinner reception which is basically tons of food and music.  It shouldn't be too expensive cause we're paying per table not per person.  But we'll see , that might come back to bite me in the ass.

  10. Wow, everything looked amazing, glad to hear you wouldn't have changed a thing! Can't wait to see more pictures.

  11. Wow Jes, I love it! i might be stealing that one! haha.  But I have a question, your doing a legal ceremony not a sybolic.  How does that work in the States? do they recognise the marriage? How do you translate the paper work? I'm so confused! Symbolic or Civil? My FI really wants to get legally married there, but I know it would be easier to get it done here. Don't know what to do!?

  12. RunningBride, your picture looks awesome, can't wait to see the professional ones! So happy to hear everything went well for you.  Did the map of the rooms help you choose yours? which room numbers did you stay in? Hope your views were great!

Lisa- yes she left this week, I was bumbed! But Jose is doing good so far too.

  13. That is really weird. Try this email too [email protected] I was working with a girl named Valentina but she just left and now the guys I'm working with is named Jose May.  Let me know if it works out for you.

I am sorry,  we only host events for guests at the property, if you could  book a number of  rooms for the wedding, I will get back to you with room rates and the wedding coordinator with details for the event.

  14. Ok ladies, about the El Bistro at La Tortuga.  I have been in contact with them for over a month and never did they mention that I had to be a hotel guest to have a party there.  I actually told them I was getting married and staying at the Royal and they didn't say I couldn't have a private party there.

Janna I asked about having it downstairs and they said its not really private.  and you still have to pay the $250 fee cause its a "private" party.

So we're doing the roof top and having it like a cocktail party with open bar.  So far everything has been great.  I think someone else is having their rehersal// welcome party there also. I'll have to look back and check out who.

  15. I'm booked for June and just told my really close family and bridal party about it and gave them my TA's info I think maybe one booked so far.  I didn't send out save the dates. But I wouldn't worry about it yet its WAY early, don't be surprised if people don't even book till like April.  Some people just wait till last min.  Kinda suckie!

Also, any of you June early summer brides...how many people do you  have booked so far? I was kinda bummed the other day because I sent out the save the dates a few weeks ago and so far we only have 2 couples booked. I thought more people would be booking sooner, especially since I let them know when the rates go up sad.gif. I know it's early, but I just figured they would want to book sooner than later, especially since our TA only requires a $150 deposit down to book.

Any other ladies having any issues with this?

  16. Hey Janna, I got the pricing from El Bistro at La Tortuga.  The girl I was working with so far has been really great! But she's leaving like today I think was her last day but the person taking over comes highly recommended also.  I'll PM you the lists , if you want like a price fixed meal or cocktail foods (that they call canapes) thats what we're doing.  We are going to book them either the 13th or 14th on the roof top.  I'm super excited about it!

I was able to use the makeup and hair service from the package for my rehearsal dinner since I'm having a makeup/hair person come on the wedding day.

Ladies - Does anyone have a pricing estimate or dinner list from El Bistro at La Tortuga? It's a perfect spot for rehearsal dinner. =)

  17. HAHA  you guys are so funny with the brazillian posts!

For everyone using Marvin I'll let you know what quote I get for my flowers.  I'm having my flowers, 4 brides maids, 5 boutoneirs, 2 corsages for mothers and about 4 center pieces (depending on how many people reply) He said that the center pieces will be ready to go as soon as their delivered so I avoid the vendor fee. He won't have to set anything up for me.

Jess- Thats awesome! thanks for the pricing on the restaurant.  But, it says USD 1.00 for dishes. Is that per person ? A little confused sorry haha.

    Welcome all newbies!!
