  1. Hey Girls, This is such a dumb question; do we have to count ourselves as part of the guest? I don't know why I haven't been counting us all this time. If we have 40 guests, when we are paying will we be paying for 42 people than? It's been all about our guests all this time and I simply forgot to count ourselves anywhere...
  2. Hey Hermosahoops, Don't stress out over it, I would just leave the reservation as it is. I'm going to back work (planning on it anyway) the day after we get home. Do you really need to decompress after a vacation? That just seems funny if you really think about it. You guys do have a long trip home though, but if he is worried that he won't get enough rest before going back to work, just promise him that you won't make him do anything when you get home on Sunday night. We are coming home on a Wednesday, I am not planning to unpack anything that is not crucial until the weekend. When I started booking the trip I double checked everything with my FI, but I had the opposite with my guy, he wanted to stay for 10 days, with compromised at 8. My thing is, if I tell him something twice and he doesn't really listen, I stick to my guns! Guys are annoying sometimes.
  3. Hi Girls, Â To all of you who have booked your reception at the Seaside Grill, just curious why you chose that location. It seems like a lot of people are having their reception there and I was just wondering if you all know something that I don't. Â I have booked the Oceana restaurant for our reception, I just loved that it had the wrap around terrace, and it is right on the beach. Just wanted to know what sold you all on Seaside Grill.
  4. Nadia and Pink Petals, have a great time, can't wait to hear your reviews when you get home. I hope you both have lots of sunshine and beautiful weather while you are there, both for your wedding day and your honeymoons. The best of wishes to both of you!
  5. Hi Dana, Â Congrats on the dress. I too had some luck last week with my dress. My dress was a store sample, and needs to be majorly altered since I am very petite. I went to the seamstress on Friday and she quoted me half of what I thought it would cost for the alterations. Score! Â I have the same vases as you, except I am going to be using them for table numbers. I have the same idea, to carry them with me but to stuff them with clothes before I bubble wrap them. When we first started planning I considered sending packages ahead of time, but between the cost and my worries about the shipment getting delayed or worse stuck in customs I nixed that idea. It will be cheaper and less stress full to pay for an extra suite case or 2. Â Your centerpieces are very pretty. If I may give a suggestion; If you are going to light them from underneath you should try to add something else in the vase that is metallic or has something glittery. This way when the light is shining up it will hit the sparkly object and give a pretty effect. I have been putting off a trip to the craft store so I don't know what they have in terms of sparkly flowers. But I'm thinking that if you added some glass pebbles right under the seashells the light bouncing off of the glass pebble would be so pretty. Check out the website save-on-crafts.com they have a lot of interesting things. Â Â
  6. Hey Girls, I keep meaning to post this and keep forgetting; Awhile back someone posted on tripadvisor.com that they took chocolate down to DLR and were tipping with it. Though I don't condone this one bit I did figure out the reason they did it (I hope, otherwise they were just horrible cheap asses). Though the DR is a cocoa producing country, much of there cocoa is exported. Why I know this is because I saw these expensive chocolate bars from DR cocoa beans, so I was trying to research where to buy Dominican chocolate so that I could put it in my OOT bags. So there doesn't seem to be much chocolate to purchase in the DR, only a few brands in the local super markets, and the expensive stuff for the tourists. Though I don't plan on tipping with it, I'm thinking about taking some nice boxes of chocolates down with us to give to the WP, bartender, and DJ, and whoever else we click with down there. This is something that is so random, just thought I would share this with you all.
  7. Hi GEM, Â Congratulations. Thank you for posting your review. I think I have finally resolved to looking forward to the wedding, instead of stressing out over it. So glad that you had a wonderful experience, makes me feel so much better about everything.
  8. Dolfinluck, Yanna gave me a direct e-mail to the photographer that is provided in the Ultimate Package. If you want to check out their work, http://www.tropicalpictures.com.do My cousin was at the resort with his family this past winter and he came back with some beautiful pictures which these photogs took of his daughters, so I'm confident that they are really experienced. They have some beautiful photos on their website also. Somewhere I have their price list too, if you want it e-mail me at [email protected]
  9. Good morning girls, Last night we were at a friends birthday party and by girlfriends husband asked how the planning was going. I have been very frustrated this week, and began to tell him all the changes the resort has made... He reminded me that all the little things really didn't matter, as long as there was food to eat, and drinks to get tipsy, and music to be played, as long as everyone was together we will have fun. The reason I am posting this this morning is to remind myself and all of you girls on the forum that the reason I chose to do a DW was to have all of our friends and family take this amazing journey with us. I didn't want the traditional wedding for many reason, one important one being that I would only have such a limited amount of time with everyone. What happened is exactly what I had hoped, only our absolute closest family and friends are coming to our wedding, the people who I want to spend more time with in my life. The people who don't care about my wedding colors, or the fabric of the chair sashes, or even the color of my dress. Off course I want are wedding to be special and beautiful, but what is going to make it special is all the people who have taken the time to make it there and join us on the trip. I guess I just wanted to post this because I know how stressed out we can all get, because planning a DW isn't easy. But when it gets to feel like to much I need to remind myself why we made this choice in the first place. As long as I remind myself that the best and closest people will be there with us celebrating, no matter what happens it will be great. The only thing that is getting me excited right now is how excited everyone else is, and that is really special. Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Good luck with everything you are working on this week.
  10. Hi Mrs Williams, I'm going to have hubby come and look at a Bose system than, maybe he will change his mind. I think you are correct about tipping and generally being nice to the staff at a resort, staff are more likely to be accommodating than. We are going to just leave our plans as they are right now, and figure out the music situation when we get there, will just be sure to come prepared.
  11. Hi Mrs Williams, Do you think the Bose docking system will be loud enough for an outdoor reception? We have a generic docking system and it gets pretty loud, but hubby is insisting that it won't be loud enough for an outdoor reception. We are having the reception on the terrace of the oceana restaurant and we need something loud enough to drown out the noise around us. I know the quality of the Bose system is better than anything out on the market, I was just wondering if you have heard the quality. I would much rather pay for a docking system that we would have for the future, than for a DJ who will just be standing there babysitting our iPod.
  12. Hi Girls, To all of you who have reserved with HDC photography; can you please give me a link for their website and also let me know why you chose them I see that a lot of girls are using them instead of the photographer that normally works with DLR and I am curious why.
  13. I'm still being quoted the DJ price. Maybe they changed there policy now since Dana from the forum has informed me that you either have to bring your own set up to play your music or purchase the DJ service for $250. The DJ will play your music from the iPod if you want, but that stinks, having to pay for DJ services just so he can hook up everything and play your music. Not happy about this one.
  14. Hi Hustyg, Â I'm having the same issues and I'm about 3 months away from my wedding. Though I have to say as it gets closer to your date they (Tiara and Yanna) will answer you more often, and much quicker. Make sure to confirm and reconfirm all of your questions and their answers. This week I had questions about using our iPod instead of the DJ and instead of helping to answer my questions all Yanna did was kept answering me with "DJ $250 usd". So aggravating! Read this forum, start to finish, it has really helped me to relax and take it easy with dealing with the resort, Yanna, and Tiara. Â You need to contact Yanna and ask her what time the sun sets in the month that you are getting married and she will give her suggestions of when would be the best time to start your ceremony. I totally miscalculated my time line and her suggestion and advise works out better. Â There was a post somewhere on here that hadpics of the different color linens that they have at DLR, I think they were Hunter Green, Fuchsia Pink, Pumpkin Orange, Red, Brown, and Turq. If you search I'm sure you will find the post. Â Also from my understanding the "decorations" that are included in the package seems to be; For Ceremony; tulle hanging from the gazebo sides, a table with a flower arrangement inside the gazebo, and chairs with white covers. Not sure if the sashes are included for the chairs for the reception. For the reception; All the decorations that seem to be included for the reception is 1 centerpiece for the sweetheart table, the white covers on chairs, and again, not really sure about the sashes. I have seen on some websites girls in Forums writing that the covers for chairs and the sashes were included, and others writing the opposite, I'm going to have to ask Yanna about this.
  15. Hi All, Â New to this board. Getting married at DLR November 27th. I wish I would have found this website a long time ago, "trying" to get answers out of Tiara and Yana has been so stressful over the last few months. Can one of you girls please e-mail me the new price list as I only have the one Tiara gave me last September and can't open the file from MissTaken's post. We felt like we pretty much had everything set since we gave our deposit over 1 year before the wedding, now I am worried that they will not honor the original prices that they gave us and we will need to re-plan everything, eek. We are expecting 40 people and I would hate to start having to cut back our original plans now.
