  1. Laura.. we are planning on doing this too...we have small group of about 10- and since Ana claims its "hard" to get that many people seated together, I figured i'd talk to El Patio Manager when we get there and ask for them to push two tables together (like its not that big of a deal!!) I was wondering if you remember the managers name.. or where you went to get ahold of him at the resort?? This would be so helpful! Thanks
  2. Wow... so glad to hear someone had this happen. I've been emailing with Ana all this time (and terrible response time as usual it seems) then all the sudden i get a few from this Gabriela person- and i was like ??? She responded to emails i sent ana WAY back when i first booked my wedding..on issues thats Ana and I have already worked out- not sure if they're not communicating with each other or what? This just makes me worry even more.....im sure like me every bride on here is sitting around for months stressing over this stuff and isnt included in any of the planning till a day or two before the big day.I understand they have a busy job and they probly do well at it...but come on weddings are an important day in our lives- its like hire someone else to help... or make a set time to respond to important emails!! =(
  3. Hey- My wedding is 1/15/11 and were leaving on the 22nd... the day of your wedding. I am getting excited!!
  4. Hello..loved your review- i am curious if you, or any other brides out there know if you have to bring the stuff for your sand ceremony..like the bottles and the colored sand, or do they provide it for you?? I scripted my own ceremony from scratch, and there is a sand ceremony in it- just dont want to get there and find out it wont happen!! Thanks
  5. This might be a weird question.. but i would like to know from previous brides, or future brides if you are aware... if dreams does really come through and provide the complimentary room for the groom the night before? I worry about this because i need somewhere to get ready without my fiance seeing me all day, and if we dont get another room.. i'll be forced to go to the other room where my mom and maid of honor are staying... talk about being rushed and cramped! I want some alone time to get ready.. and enough space... and not to have to share bathroom/mirror/counter space with a bunch of other women.. its my wedding day!! =( It says per availability.. but you know how that goes.. i'm trying to prepare for the "sorry mam, we dont have another room available" and then i freak out lol. We actually just booked a regular room and may upgrade when we get there, not sure yet. We just didn't want to spend the extra $ for a plunge pool or anything because we will have 40 guests at the resort, many the same length of time as us so we won't have much alone time. We're planning to take another separate trip by ourselves next summer for our honeymoon.
  6. Just want to warn you so there are no surprises.. at first I thought it was just 40$ on upgraded wine also.. but after I made the reservation Ana e-mailed and said it all goes according to how many guests you have, and its per couple.. so if you have 10 guests- the minimum amount you'd have to spend on wine is 300$- which is ridiculous.. so i cancelled it. I think they have a way of saying things that isnt totally concrete or fully explained.. and then there are all these surprises as far as extra charges go. =( Just want you to know!! =)
  7. you will be flying in the day we leave! Aren't u so excited? =) Quote: Originally Posted by jstock311 My wedding is in January too. I emailed Ana a few times asking about the deposit also. 8. Nikkimadril- I can totally relate. Its been the same frustation with me. But if it helps in your decision making.. i posted something about this a while ago- I will recap. I was interested in the wine room also as i have a small group 10-15 people, and at first Ana's email stated directly there is no extra charge for the wine room, except you must spend minimum of 60$ on upgraded wine. I thought how great! Its sort of private without having to pay for a full on private reception since our group is so small. I told her to book it. She emails back a week later and says "oh i just want to make sure you understand that the minimum wine purchases you have to make goes according to how many guests you have in the party- for example 10 guests=300$ minimum in upgraded wine." "More will need to be spent the larger the group gets" I was extremely frustrated as the communication is so spotty and it seems like alot of us get false or half information, and then when it comes down to it there are so many other restrictions in the fine print. Its upsetting =( However, the resort seems to be immaculate and beautiful, and most brides on here here say Ana somehow makes it happen when you finally get there.. so we'll just have to hold on to that hope that everything will work out! Good luck Quote: Originally Posted by nikkimadril Hi ladies. Starting to get a little stressed out about the communication thing as well. I'm going to try calling her today, but I wanted to reserve the wine room and now I'm not so sure. You have to buy at least $40 in upgraded wine per couple? I don't want to bother with the wine room if it's going to cost $300 or $400 - still seems ridiculous to me for an all-inclusive resort and I doubt everyone would want to drink all that wine anyway. I'm trying to be calm but my wedding is in two months. I know destination weddings are different and hopefully everything will be worked out once we get there, but it's hard.
  9. Yeah- i guess the travel agent called the resort directly and stated "your website does say kids under 12 are free" and they told her "yes mam, but it only applies with a minimum of 2 kids traveling" So, false information I guess. They gotta find a way to get your money ya know! =(
  10. Yeah- thanks alot. I'm not sure what state of mind i'd be in if it wasn't for this website. I've already gotten so much helpful advice. I'll just keep logging on and checking everyday, and maybe by the time we get on the plane we'll be so informed and prepared that nothing can go wrong! =)
  11. Thanks =) thank god its not just me! Hopefully when we get there the beauty and relaxation of it all will outweigh all the negatives right now. Heres hoping!! As easy as a destination wedding is supposed to be....this has been an extremely frustrating process. I started trying to lock in my date and get my deposit in the first week of April. It's now over 3 months later. I hope it will get be smooth sailing after this deposit gets taken care of. Good Luck BethAnne...I'm right there with you!
  12. Hey there.. I know this is an old post but i caught this on a google search. I too am flying USA 3000 and i basically refuse to check my wedding dress... i want to take it as my carry on, or put it in my lap. How did this end up working out for you? Quote: Originally Posted by zorlack76 Hey All, I know there have been some threads on transporting your dress to your DW location. I called their customer service last night and they told me the dress had to meet the dimensions for a carry on bag in order to bring it on the plane. The lady said they dont have much room in the planes and definitely cant hang it up anywhere. Any advise? Thanks in advance!
  13. Ok- I need to vent. This whole communication business with Ana is NOT going well and im very frustrated. I have a small group of around 12 and i was told we could have our dinner in the wine room after our ceremony if we spent 60$ minumum in upgraded wine. I thought, sure! its beautfiul and were only out 60 bucks on good wine to have a nice reception without paying extra per person. This is exactly what her email said. Today i get an e-mail stating "oh beth anne, just want to make sure you understand that its 60$ minimun per couple, and it goes according to how many guests you have- example if you have 10 guests.. you would have to spend at least 300$ minimum on upgraded wine to use the room" This is BOGUS!! I'm so mad. I just feel like something is doomed to fail in the end because the communication is so crappy. Of course because of small group we can have it in one of the restaraunts (semi-private) for no extra charge, but its not a guarantee, and we wont know this info till the day we arrive in cancun. talk about stressing for the next 6 months?? geez. =(
  14. I, too, had the same problem. Using the 011-52 then the fax # did not work on my fax machine at work, or on my dads fax. We kept getting the busy signal or error message. I EXPECTED that i'd hear in a few weeks "oh i didn't get it" based on how our communication has been up until now.. so to cover my butt i signed it filled it out/scanned it in...and sent it as an attatchment in an e-mail. I waited about a week, and she emailed back saying she got it and that she was processing the charge "today"
  15. I'm having our dinner in the wine room following our ceremony. My group is about 12-15. I have it reserved. Ana stated in her e-mail that it does accomodate 18 people or less.. and you must spend 60$US per couple minimun on upgraded wine in order to use the wine room for the dinner. I did clarify with her that she meant only us (the marrying couple) has to purchase the wine (because we're not asking our guests to pay for upgraded wine when they're already paying an arm and a leg to be here with us!) And she said yes, so long as you spend minimum 60$ on upgraded wine. I'm excited..havn't seen pictures.. but I hear that its sort of private and romantic. =) Hope this helps anyone looking for info on the wine room!
  16. Thanks alot. I think im going to use one of theirs as an outline and insert my own preferences here and there... like a reading from my maid of honor, and our own personal vows in stead of the scripted ones. I think this will work! =)
  17. I would love to see the script also! Mine is a symbolic ceremony and im sort of nervous not knowing what will be said and by who at the cermony =) I want to be able to personalize it a little bit. My e-mail is [email protected] Thanks!
  18. Ladies..just want to warn you that this could be deceptive with the kids being free... we have one child age 6 in our small group and when talking to travel agent she stated she spoke with the resort and they say kids are only free if you have more than 2 kids traveling. This discount doesnt apply if its one child. =( The 6 year old will be costing over 900$ for 4 nights. =(
  19. Hi. My wedding is Jan 2011. At first she would e-mail and say she was "holding" my date. Then I emailed back and stated firmly that i want to know our date is secured! She finally sent me the charge authorization document in an e-mail for the deposit- i filled it all out and sent it back- online as attatchment and faxed it 3 times. I got no response for about a week. Then she said "ok all is good, will process your deposit on your charge card today!" well that was a week ago and it still isnt showing up on my card statement =( I just hope this all works out for us in the end ladies!! I'm kind of stressing =(
  20. What im trying to get from Ana is that if we use the wine cellar for our reception...guests will just order off the restaraunt menu ( and its included in the all inclusive price) so guests souldnt have to pay any extra for food and drinks... and just me and the fiance buy a few bottles of the upgraded wine? She's not really answering my question with this...
  21. Just curious how you got this list?? Is this all the weddings planned as of right now? =)
  22. I'm sorry you're so bummed. I'm not exactly sure where but one of the other former brides on this site has posted pics of the elpatio and seaside grill setups for receptions. It looked pretty nice. I'm still waiting for a reply from WC on my location too.. i tried to get my request in early so she couldn't say "sorry not available" But if it makes you feel any better i've been looking on the net for weeks now since I planned my wedding there and the grounds of the entire place look immaculate and very gorgeous. I'm sure whereever they set up shop for your group it'll be beautiful. And all the guests you have will be in "pure vacation mode" and probly wouldn't think twice about the location! Good luck =)
  23. Same here. The uncertainty of it all (which I learned of on this site- so helpful!) is very nerve racking. Im printing all the e-mails i've ever sent her and the ones she's sent me and having them with me when we get there to meet with her-just for proof of our conversations. My wedding is Jan 2011 and i made sure to send 3 e-mails now requesting to use the wine room for dinner after ceremony- because i do have a small group (18people or under) Im hoping she'll get back to me in a couple days, rather than a couple weeks. =(
  24. Kerry.. glad to hear this is happening with several brides and not just me. The process is so frustrating not knowing whats secure and whats not..and waiting so long to get answers to questions. I guess we can all just cross our fingers and pray that it works out when we get there! =) Quote: Originally Posted by roxmysockz Yeah she said the beach or the pool terrace.
