  1. Ha ha, yes, it is a real parrot!  My FI and I went to Mexico back in February (Dreams Tulum) and the resort photographers brought different animals around every day.  We bought quite a few of their pictures.  They turned out great!  We have one with a tucan and then there were two of these parrots there.  I had a co-workers photoshop this one for me.  :o)

Speaking of, I need to learn how to do that so I can play with my wedding photos!

We are still awaiting our confirmation but we are looking at May 2nd at Azul Sensatori in the Riviera Maya.

I haven't done a whole lot yet.  Most of my time has been focused on finding the resort.  Now I'm trying to determine my color scheme, invitations, bridesmaid dresses, etc.

For the dress, I've pretty much exhausted all my options at the reasonable retailer, Davids Bridal.  So, I am going to the Running of the Brides tomorrow and I am hoping with all of my might that I find THE dress (and wouldn't it be fantastic if it was at the $250 pricepoint!)  Whoo hoo!!

    What about you?

  2. Thank you ladies for all the reassurance about the cocktail party. :o

How long did it take everyone to get confirmation on your date when you sent in the deposit form?  They were quick to let us know the dates available and to hold one but once I sent them my money, no more communication!  WTH??  My FI won't do any further planning or talking without that confirmation so I'm kind of stuck.  Then, my WC told me that they only allow so many groups at a time so I have to do that soon.  I wanted to wait a month or so to do the groups b/c I figured that would be a good time for people to book (when all the airlines have their prices out and all).  Ugh, I'm feeling very pressured to make many important decisions all at once and I want (and I believe am going to) take my time!

Ahh, okay I feel better now.  Oh, and I'm going to the Running of the Brides tomorrow!  Please cross your fingers for me that I find my perfect dress!! :o)  That would just make my day!

For the 20% you get it off food and drink. That includes the wedding cake.

You can have you're ceremony flowers transfered for sure. That'll just be part of your set up fee (probably around $100 depending on what you have to set up.) In an effort to save money, I am having actual bouquets hang from the chairs at the ceremony lining the aisle. Those flowers will be tied loosely with a gold ribbon. When it is time for the reception, my WC will move them to Zavaz Plaza and place them in the gold blume boxes I've bought. And there you go I have centerpieces. They are charging me $60 per bouquet and most of the centerpieces are listed as $100 so I think it's a good deal.

Great idea ~ just may have to steal this one :o

  3. Nice, when is your wedding?  I see you are doing Beaches in Turks and Caicos.  I would have loved to have gone there but thought the distance would make the cost too great.

It is definitely a small world.  Maybe we can chat online and maybe meet up sometime.  I know non-brides sometimes get tired of hearing about all the planning!  Ha ha.

  4. Hi ladies,

Southern Maryland bride here!  I'm coming to DC for the ROTB tomorrow and I'm very anxious.  I really hope to find a dress amidst all the chaos.  I decided to go ahead and do the crazy morning part just to say I experienced it.  So, I'll be leaving my house about 4:30 tomorrow morning!  Yikes!  Fingers crossed....

And this is completely not wedding related but does anyone know of any available jobs?  I'm way down in Southern Maryland though so DC/NoVA is doable but the southern outskirts would be best for me.  I'd love to work for the National Center for Missing and Exploited CHildren or something in investigations.  I have a very broad background and a degree in teaching.

If anyone can help out, that would be fabulous!!  Thanks so much and best of luck to all the brides going tomorrow!

  5. I was considering going to the El Dorado for a night or two as well.

Girls, when you get 20% off a private event, say your reception - what exactly does it take 20% off of?  And I read that someone asked about the ceremony flowers, are they transferred to the reception site?

And, is it lame to not hold a cocktail party and just have guests mingle at a lounge/bar for an hour?

  6. Congrats on your confirmation Lauren!  I submitted ours last week and still haven't heard back.  Stinks just waiting!  I feel like I have sooo much to figure out before the ball will even get rolling.

The water is a bit of a downer for me as well.  Some pics are good and some are bad.  I guess it just depends on the day.  So, hopefully all our wedding days will be the better days :o)

I can't open it. Can you email that PDF to [email protected] please?

    Just sent!  :o

And hey, I was just wondering ~~~~~  Where are all our recent Azul bride reviews?  I've seen Amy's recently and then the remainder were back around May :(

My make-up is covered but might need my hair done. Also, some of BM's and MOB will want thier hair done too. I would love to pay for this but have no idea what to expect.

My WC sent me over the PDF's but the proces are really steep for the bridal packages and I don't need all of that anyway. Is there a place I can find the a la carte prices?

Looks like bridal hairstyles are $85 - doesn't give any other up-do pricing so I would assume that would be for all members of bridal party (kinda pricey)

We havea guest satying for 3 nights in the cheapest room. I think that was $467 and then multiply that number by 2 (since it is bride and groom stay free) and you can subtract that from the toal you owe from your room.It is important to note that the discount is a refund after your stay and not a true discount. Not amazing, but hey I'll take it...another $950 saved!

And Meredith, yes that's what we did. We were already booked but we particpated and got an upgrade. Ask your TA about it.

Okay, so we have plenty of people coming.  I would assume you can't get both the B&G stay free and the premium suite stay with the "free" $2500 wedding, correct?  Or maybe our rooms will add up to be enough for that, I don't know!!!  I'm so confused!!

And what kind of upgrade did you get? I participated in the webinar before I booked but like you said, I didn't book within the 10 days.

I missed a few that arrived early but I just called the front desk, found their room and walked it over to them.

Man, you are sooo organized!!  I need to snag your brain for the next ten months! :o)

Well if we still had the ticker mine would say "3 DAYS!!!!"  I can't believe it's here already.  We're on the way to the courthouse now to do the legal ceremony and then we leave for Mexico early tomorrow morning.  I've been packing and getting everything together which is why I haven't been on here in a week but we're pretty much ready to go.  I forgot to take pictures of everything for my planning thread before I packed it so I guess I'll take pictures in Mexico when we unpack.

Adios Ladies!!!!  I'll definitely post some info when I get back.

BTW:  Amybermuda I loved, loved, loved your pics!!!!!

Yay, congratulations!!! Hope you have a fabulous trip with gorgeous weather!  Can't wait to hear all about it!!

They will be in sage green incase that didnt show up

I am going to have 6 of these bouquets tied to chivalir chairs with gold bows. They will line the aisles as well:

I want to have dried lilac running the aisles: Click the image to open in full size.

I was originally going to do all white and green flowers but now think that there needs to be some more color. What do you think?

To go along with the ones I've shown you, which do you think would work best given my adversion to too much color and wanting everything to feel antiquey and romantic?

Here's one option. I would change a couple of thinsg...no branches out of the top and a gold ribbon. Also more garden green filler instead of bright green. Click the image to open in full size.

Here's the other option:Click the image to open in full size.
I would do those flowers as is.

Let me know what you think. Thanks for the input ladies!

We will have over 15 rooms booked. Have any of you received discounts for travelers for booking so many rooms?

I know that if we book at least 15 rooms we stay for free, but I feel like a discount should be offered to our families?

Any insight would be helpful, I have nooooo idea what I am doing :)

    Thx,

    Congrats and welcome.

Are you using a travel agent or just going through the resort? If you use a travel agent that person should be able to negotitate room rates for you.

Also, make sure you are looking into all the packages available. I have 32+ rooms booked and we qualified for a lower group rate, the bride and groom stay free promotion, 20% off private events and a free cocktail reception for 50 guests.

Take my advice and look into every promotion the other girls on this thread mention getting. That's what I did and now I have saved myself well over 3k.

In addtion to all the incentives, I also talked the resort in letting me downgrade to the free wedding package even though I am getting married on the sky deck. (I do have to pay the $1700 for the location though). Originally when I booked the lowest category avialble if booking the sky deck was the silver package but other girls mentioned that they qualified for the free wedding package. I asked and they gave it to me.

Congrats on booking Laurern1564!  Welcome ~ I'm still a newbie myself and on the learning curve as well :o

I am using BestDestinationWeddings.com for a travel agent and they offer the incentives amandamarieb mentioned above.

I do have a question regarding the bride and groom stay free though - my FI and I are interested in a premium suite but I'm wondering how that works with the B&G staying free.  I would assume the free room would only apply to a standard room but I will look into it with my TA and let you all know when I find out.  If anyone knows now and could let me know, that would be fabulous too!  We would like to get the stay for free and maybe just pay the difference in rooms if possible.

    Thanks!!
