    They come with a template inside, so I just used the template to cut out the correct size and actually printed out my design on Avery sticky name tags.  Here is the finished project that might help that make more sense.

  2. I found an awesome item at the dollar store. I'm ditching the idea of wrist coils and id holders for the guests as I've had several male guests sort of chuckle and say they wouldn't likely use them. So today at the dollarstore I found what is technically a passport holder, although I think it is too small for a passport. They are black and have CANADA and  flag or maple leaf on them. They have two zippered pockets and a netted pocket in the back. They are worn around your neck and come with one of those knobs things you slide to adjust the length. I can put a card/note in the netted pocket...and best of all, I'm certain they are an item my guests will reuse! They were $1.50 each and are good quality. Such an easy addition to my welcome bags without the work! They are light weight so will be easy to transport. I am attaching a photo...Just thought I'd share as these excited me so! LOL

  4. Hi Aaronlori;

    I'm going the same route as you----doing the legal ceremony here first without telling the guests! A couple of people for witnesses and that will be it! I'm sure no one will be the wiser at the ceremony in the Dominican.

We are getting married in the Domincan Republic and at our particular resort most couples who end up doing the civic ceremony end up having the judge come earlier in the day to sign the papers and then the wedding coordinator does the ceremony anyway. Or the judge comes, but he speaks spanish and the wedding coordinator translates and thus is still doing the ceremony. So, I figure at least this way I save money, and I can write my own ceremony.

    However, we are not telling ANYONE about the legal stuff before hand. When people ask about having everything translated we are just saying "yes, we are getting all that taken care of" and if they are keeners who know all about this stuff, I will lie and say yes we have everything sent to WEDO in the states and then to the embassy. I am not against fibbing if it keeps people happy, ha ha ha!

  5. Hey KCB2011;

  6. I think it is a marvelous idea to wear your dress and have the wedding party do the same! Forthose unable to attend your DW, i"m sure they will love to see you in your dress in oerson ---not via pictures! Bottom line ----your day, do what you want!

    I want to talk to people that have REAL experience with destination weddings - the brides on this forum!!!

    What are your thoughts on this?

    I'm having a AHR a week after our DW at a hall just as though we had been married here.

    I'm planning on wearing my gown and having my bridal party wear their attire too.

    Am I wrong in doing this?

    Also as a side note...

    What have people used/will be using as favours for the AHR?

  7. I booked my wedding in October 2011 with AC Vacations. Their policy is once you have ten bodies confirmed - they upgrade you to 2 first class seats. If you hit 20 bodies booked - they give you 4 first class seats. We are very fortunate that we have 27 bodies confirmed...so first class here we come!

They were only $3 each and you save 10% if you buy 10 or more! Cheaper than the $4 at Micheals and definitely cheaper than paying the shipping!

  9. Ah ha....thanks mochamakes3....just what I'm looking for.  Cheers!

  10. Wow, that's a good find...was it in a clearance area or with the regular screen?

  11. Hope you have a blast and find everything to your liking....you're sort of like our 'scout'...we'll all anxiously be waiting for your review!

  12. Awesome...when you say brake it by each....do you mean they come as multiples in a box (package) and you then separate them?

    Hope this helps :)

  14. Just an FYI in case all my fellow Cdn gals have not yet located this thread (if I could attach it I would...but too challenged for that). There is a thread for Cdn gals on items purchased in Canada. You'll find it here: Start at Forums---then BDW General---then General Wedding Planning---then Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags & OOT bags....then scroll down until you find: CANADIAN OOT Bages info - where to shop!  If you find any great deals please post there and let us know!

  15. Thank you......Just saw your signature tag...you are a destination wedding specialist? Fun....where are you located? ...in hind site, I should have gone with someone with those credentials...as my travel agent has been a bit of a challenge...albeit, it is his first group wedding...he just doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy! LOL

  16. Welcome Dramatic Annie;

    My hubby to be and our son love cruising...we have been on several Caribbean cruises..and I guarantee you will love it. We thought about that for our wedding as well but unfortunately as we are in Calgary and at least half of our guests are in western Canada....it was too expensive to add airfare on to the cost of the cruise...so we chose and all-inclusive in DR. We are thrilled to bits with our choice and have 30 people joining us. Good luck in the planning and preparations....

    I'm a super 'noob' as well but I've been reading up on these forums for about the past month or so, since we decided to go with a destination wedding, a cruise ship wedding actually. My fiance` and I are from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and I believe all of our guests will be from this area as well, flying down to Orlando in April 2012 to get onboard the Carnival Dream for a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise - our wedding will be on the first day, before the ship leaves port, so the whole week will be celebrations! woot.gif

    It's great to see so many Canadian brides on here, and I love the thread for Canadian brides and their OOT bags, where to shop, etc. Good luck and happy planning, everyone!
