  1. You are right - the resort will charge $15 per flower that you want to add to the cake, however my WC told me that they try not to add flowers directly to the cake for cross contamination reasons...which was good enough for me. I didn't want anyone to get sick. I sent a picture and they made it somewhat similar. They added a cake topper for me - it was a beach bride and groom and the groom was carrying the bride. The cake was no overly fancy - but was the best cake I have ever had. It was soft and moist and just delish!! I have some photos of the cake that people have added to facebook I will email it to you. My name is Carol Sonnenburg when you get the email.
  2. We had 41 too and the Himitsu Terrace - it was perfect and had plenty of room as well!!
  3. I am not certain about the Bordeaux terrace. We had 43 in our group and we used the Himitsu Terrace and it was perfect.
  4. There was white linens on our tables - I did not ask, it was just there. I did bring with me table runners rather than using one solid coloured table cloth. I did coloured sashes around the chair backs in the same colour. I think there is a cost - believe it or not - $3 a chair....I think. I don't think they go to the floor.
  5. No, I don't think so. If I understood right when I met with the WC - the cost is based on the people that it has to feed - so basically the size and numbe of people you are feeding. I honestly can't even remember how much my cake cost - I would have to look at my receipt that I got for the wedding when I left. They have a number of flavours - choc, vanilla, almond and strawberry - I think. We got the vanilla and it was delicious.
  6. Just another thing I forgot to mention. they will charge you $15 US for each flower you have on the cake and my WC indicated that they typically do not put flowers right on the cake for reasons of cross contamination - at least that it is if you want real flowers. I did not bring a topper with me and they had one - it was a groom carrying a bride - it was cute.
  7. Send a photo of a cake that you like and they will try to mimic the design. That is what I did and it was beautiful and exceptionally delicious!!!
  8. Hello Ladies....just got back from my vacation and 'Dreams' Wedding!! It was AMAZING.... I had a ceremony on the beach at 3pm - the sun was out and it was a little breezy which was wonderful. We had a time confirmed by the judge of 6:30pm - which was too late for me. So we arranged to have the WC marry us and we would legalize later that day, however when Deyanira picked me up she told me the judge was here and ready to go - so that was a great surprise. My WC, Deyanira, is so sweet. She is amazing. All of the things that I brought down for the wedding I gave to her days before and she took care of all of it. She took my seating arrangements, my wedding favours - everything. I did not even go to see it before the wedding - to be honest - I forgot. I was so happy to see the terrace. We had the Himitsu terrace and it was perfect. We had a group of 43 people and it was perfect. We danced the night away and I never worried about anything. I brought my own playlist on my ipod which Deyanira hooked up to a stereo system - it was so easy. She pressed play and that was it. The ceremony was beautiful - she played a song for my bridesmaids and I walked to somewhere over the rainbow - it was soo perfect. She also played music after the wedding as they were cracking out champagne for all of our guests. We had a cocktail hour from 4pm-5pm - with assorted sushi - it was good, avocado cream cheese rolls and smoked salmon canape. All of the apps were great..I did not get any complaints. I also had chicken fingers mainly for the children in our group - but the adults loved them also. For supper we chose Buffet #2 and it was served at 6pm - Chicken Cordon Blue, Salmon Hollaindaise, and we substituted the flank steak for tenderloin. We also had an assortment of veggies, rice, potatoes soup. The meal was really good. Most people had the beef and loved it as well as the chicken. I had the salmon - it was a bit dry as it was sitting in a chaffing dish - but the flavor was good. I had no complaints about the meal everyone loved it. The break between the cocktail hour and supper was perfect as it allowed us to get a tonne of photos with the wedding party and for myself and my hubby. I brought my own photographer - who is also my sister - so it worked out well. The reception went off without a hitch - in fact the entire day went off without a hitch. I could not have been more pleased and have not one single complaint. I loved every minute of it. My only suggestion for upcoming brides is to try to take it slow and enjoy every minute. It goes by so quickly. I will hopefully have pics up soon on facebook...I will copy a link if I can! If there are any questions....feel free to ask. Also on a more general note, the resort is also wonderful. All of my guests loved it, they had no complaints about food or service. Everyone that came with us had a spectacular time. I would not even think about going back and would in a second. Carol
  9. Have a fantastic time!! Maybe I will be able to see you on Sunday when I arrive - I plan to be by the pool as quickly as possible!!!!
  10. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas/suggestions on what guests could to instead of banging on their glasses to have us (bride/groom) kiss. I have to admit - I am not a fan of this tradition. I am anticipating that I am not going to be able to avoid it completely and don't really expect to - but would like something a bit more exciting, less irritating and slightly embarrassing for the gues!!! If anyone has any ideas, I would love some... Thanks, Carol
  11. I have the email address for the front desk manager and the concierge...not sure if this is what you need but here it is: Silverio Oguislen - [email protected] Email for the concierge - [email protected] Hopefully someone will be able to help!!
  12. I am getting married at DPC in a few weeks. We are having a bon fire the night before the wedding with a basic bar on the beach - beer, rum and mix. I got a quoted rated for this - I don't have it in front of me, but we have 43 people and for the bar it is about $300 an hour - roughly. The WC originally sent me a huge list of different options just for a bar - the selection is fairly big and bigger than what we wanted. If you are interested in setting up a cocktail hour or event like you are describing, you can ask the WC for a bar menu - I think there are 3 packages for just a bar. Hope this helps a bit.
  13. I am at 24 days...and 9 more days of work. Short of dying, I don't feel that I am going to make it. Most of my plans are all in place. My job has been crazy busy lately and in addition to the wedding, I am so excited for a vacation!!!!
  14. I am soo excited. I can't wait....I struggle with functioning at work because the wedding is all that I can think about!! It is getting so close!!!
  15. I am getting married at DPC in 26 days. Following the ceremony we are having a cocktail hour - this includes a bar and champagne if you like. I am not certain if Champagne is included in the bar. We are planning to be with our guests for part of the cocktail hour, then leave for photos. We are having a dinner/reception at 6pm at the Himitsu terrace as well. You won't need to get a dance floor (there is a dancefloor you can rent - but I think this is mainly used on the beach. My WC told me there would be room for dancing. I am also bringing my own music list as well for the reception and dance bringing my ipod. There is a music system that you can rent, and I am pretty certain it comes with a microphone. I was told that I can hook up my ipod, actually that the ipod would work best. We will be relying on our MC to work the music, however, once he turns the playlist on that I made, he will be able to walk away. We have decided to use the Carribean Trio for the ceremony, so I can't really help with that part. I believe that you can create whatever you want for your wedding and reception - you just need to tell your WC what you want and when, but there is a cost for everything. My WC has accomodated all of my requests so far and has been fantastic at answering my questions. I hope this helps...I can post more after I get back!!! Carol
  16. I am getting married in 28 days...as for my dress, the will have to pry it from my cold lifeless hands if I am told to put it in a suitcase...or I will be heading in the bottom of the plane with the luggag...lol!!! I have been to a destination wedding before and the bride was able to bring her dress on the plane and the flight attendants found a spot to hang it.
  17. I am heading to DPC and getting married in 4 weeks and I am having my reception on the Himitsu Terrace and will post pics!! I am counting the days now!!!!!
  18. I may be sucking up the cost of the trio too....I have my heart set on having that in the ceremony. We didn't get a package and got the one that was included and added on what we wanted. We have a group of 43 people, so I found that the packages didn't suit us that well and I didn't think that I would use all of the things that were included. I figured I am saving money on some things, that I can splurge with the trio.
  19. I wanted to use the Caribbean Trio for the ceremony as well as for the dinner...I was hoping to get around the entire $250 charge for the ceremony once I got there. Of all the plans I have tried to make, music for the ceremony wasn't one of them, because I wanted to Trio. I don't have much time left!!! If I find/think of anything, I will pass it along!!
  20. I am arriving on November 14 (Sun) and getting married November 19th (fri). If you are having a legal ceremony, I am pretty sure you have to be in the country for 3 business days, weekends, holidays and arrival date apparently do not count.
  21. I won't be arriving until November 14th and our wedding on the 19th. We will have to meet up at the swing up bar and let me know how it went!! November is coming so quickly...I am getting excited!!!
  22. JackieandTim - Are you at DPC this November....I will be there this year from Nov 13-21, Wedding date is the 19th!!!
  23. Shelly... Â I would stay persistent and patient!! I am getting married at DPC in November 2010 and it took a few weeks to get my date confirmed and I did not have near the amount of time you had for planning. At the beginning of the summer is their peak times for weddings and was taking the WC a while to get back to me. More recently, she has been averaging a few days after I email her. Once you fill out your wedding request form, she has to wait for the judge - if you are having a civil ceremony - to confirm the date/time etc. I would be patient and continue to send emails....that was what I did. Happy planning! Â Carol
