Does anyone know if we are to tip the Officiant? Also, are they just there for the ceremony or do they come to the reception to eat? - I did see that people were sick there a couple weeks ago but I bet it was a bad batch of something. Don't worry! Also - bug repellent is a MUST down there - you will be eaten alive at sunset if you don't have it on so spray it under your wedding dress! lol - There is going to be an "international" fee if you use your credit card, or debit card. I hear the credit card has a better rate than the bank though. I got a quote from Lisbeth that the Lanteens are 10.00 + 11% each.... I see on here one of the girls said she got them for 7.00 each and they threw in an extra one. I am going to wait to get down there to add any "accessories" because Im thinking we can wheel and deal better. Great idea to hand out the OOT bags at the welcome party - I am bringing just the bags down and then we are going to town and buying fun stuff down there to put in the bags! June 18 - here we come!

Hi! I remember seeing a post a while ago on here stating the cigar roller was 150.00 for the hour for 20 cigars. This was from a bride who was already married down there and used them. I think the quote below is ridiculous. I recv'd the same quote from Lisbeth. Im thinking maybe they got a roller from off the resort??

I can not WAIT to wear my long wedding dress and short reception dress in Mexico. This is my short dress ( i figured it would be really hot in June to wear the long one the whole time) - http://www.netfashionavenue.com/images/products/detail/15046_F.jpg This is my long wedding dress- I actually found it on line and it is categorized as a "prom dress" but it is so perfect for a destination wedding- Its really light and flowy. The dresses I tried on at the bridal boutiques were way to heavy even for their categorized " destination" dresses. http://www.tiza.com/prom-dresses/La_Femme_15027.htm

Aw! I thought I finally found a June 2011 bride on here for the DRC! lol - We sent out invites in October 2010 - didnt do save the dates but emailed everyone our wedding website ( back in the summer) from The KNOT and it had all the info on there. I had the cut off date for the responses January 15th - we still have responses coming in now! It's very tough coordinating a destination wedding. Getting everyone to book and reserve their flights is a pain. I know it will be worth it when we are at the beach with our close family and best friends though!!

Soooo , I sent an email with questions to Lisbeth ( our 4th coordinator) about our June 18th wedding. I got the responses back promptly but 1/2 of them were incorrect. Our wedding contract was developed over a YEAR ago and we had requested the Gazebo at 530 pm for the wedding. At the time ANA stated we were the only wedding and it was confirmed. Now, Lisbeth is telling me that the Gazebo is not available for that time!! Very upsetting. Also, I saw on this blog the price for a cigar roller for 20 cigars is 150.00. She quoted me 300.00 for the hr!! I have an email FROM HER that confirms my guests that need day passes will not be charged due to the private event. But, on this email she quoted the 55.00/day. I do not understand how everything can vary so much from pricing to times to locations every time I am in contact with Dreams. Had to vent!

Personally, we are going with the equipment and technician for the 180/hr - I hear the tech is great and will announce and fade in and out songs. we are so picky with our music that there was no way we were going to have a random DJ dictate our reception. Just an opinion. It will be tedious downloading and making playlists but I think in the end it will be worth it!

How is everyone getting their guests to the resort that is not going through APPLE vaca's...etc.? I have guests coming on Weds, Thurs AND Friday and we have to set up an account with Cancun Transportation.... They say we can set up a website and the guests can pay for their transportation via the website. I am wondering if anyone else has done this or knows about it? It seems like such a hassle but taxis are not allowed at the airport to pick passengers up.

Can any of the brides who were already married at DRC advise on how the reception flowed? When everyone gets to the reception "spot"- is the food already out and ready ( for the buffet)? Do we eat right away or do we mingle for a while? Also, if you just have the technician, can he announce the bride/groom coming into the reception? I'd like to picture how the reception is going to go with timing. Thanks!!

@ JKHOWELL - I would suggest if the resort DJ is horrible, to have an IPOD reception. I have read tons of reviews that the technician is very good and he will know when to "fade out" the songs for the speeches etc. - The package comes with a technician, speakers/equipment, and a microphone ( 180/hr) We personally have always wanted the IPOD wedding due to our pickiness of songs- LOL - We are also burning the songs onto CD's for backup. They say 90-110 songs for a 3 hr reception is plenty.
