  1. kristadawn, That was reassuring, I appreciate it. I am really looking forward to getting married there. I'm sure Rev Ron and Dot will do a great job with my ceremony =)

For me, I'm mostly planning the DW and reception at home by myself... my fiance is finishing a degree so I try not to drive him nuts with the details (he helps in certain instances when I find trouble with a vendor and gives me his opinion on things etc) but we are looking to buy a house this summer at the same time and sell my condo - I estimate that this will all happen the same summer we get married. I am also planning a suprise graduation party for him next month and just found out my sister is expecting (she got married last summer, so I was busy with that too) and I'm throwing her a baby shower on top of this. At the same time.... I too am in college... trying to finish by December of this year, while I work full time. I'm real overloaded. I can't wait until next year when things simmer down and I can get to know my new niece or nephew!

Talk about being unhealthy... I think FI almost had me comitted. The good news is that I think I'm getting married! Yay love! Sapphire, I am so sorry that you're going through all of this... Eventhough I am covered with a decent insurance .. I had to stop seeing specialists because the $30 copay was killing my bank account. I started to get real upset because my Chiropractor (I highly DO NOT reccommend who is located in Southington) diagnosed me wrong - I had a gut feeling and felt pressured to quickly do something about it before I ran out of money. I got to an Osteopth, after more x-rays and an MRI (fingers crossed I don't get a big bill for someone's precert screw up) he said I have a healthy structure vs what the Chiro said that I have a back of a 100 yr old woman!! Mixing money with health issues is never fun and takes a psychological toll - I really understand...I also used to be a medical biller and had to fight tooth and nail with these insurance companies and employer to do write offs or accept patient hardship waivers. Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is try and hang in there and on a brighter note: congrats on getting married soon!
  4. Thanks Angel, I'll def do that!
  5. I'd be interested in this too. I'm using the same pastor for my August ceremony... It would be nice to have a limo to and from the condo (still undecided about the limo b/c my fiance isn't into fancy things). So far The Maui Marrying Man has been real responsive with emails and details, but I'd like to hear someone who actually had a ceremony conducted by him.
  6. Marie - Last year when I went with my sister to her salon (I was her MOH) she wasn't required to have a trial, but she did one anyway. This cost her $65. She did not have to pay ahead for her real appointment (and actually, I don't ever recall any one of my friends having to do this). I guess maybe different salons have different policies... but I wouldn't like it. That is too much money, I agree. I haven't made my appointment yet... I have one set for Maui but I still gotta decide where I want to go for my reception back home. This will total about $165 all together...

I lived all over CT but grew up in Meriden.

    Newbie here

Hello everyone! My wedding ceremony is in Maui on 8/3/2010 and plan to have our reception a few days after we return home on 8/14/2010. We've been engaged for almost 2 yrs and believe me, it gave room for tooooo many changes and aggravations during our planning. I am excited in a way, but at the same time - can't wait until it's over =) I think an exciting part is the fact that we're returning to Maui where we visited 3 yrs ago...we fell so much in love with this place and before leaving we decided that it would be perfect to get married there, then he proposed a few months later. We're not inviting anyone to go with us... it's so costly to fly from Connecticut to HI, so we're capturing our ceremony on a DVD to share with everyone at the reception. I'm sure I'll have some questions and info to share while I'm here =)
