  6. Hey Amiee- Congratulations on your wedding! I"m getting married there too Nov. 19, 2011. There are a couple very detailed reviews on here under the wedding review section. Also if you do a search for secrets maroma, you will find tons of info. I'm still kind of new to this site also, but I'm getting better! Make you sure you subscribe to this thread so you don't miss anything!!

  9. Congrats! Glad to hear that you put your foot down! I like the idea of the low key AHR too!

  11. hey girls, for those who have had a wedding there.....if i chose the secrets ultimate package will they let me substitutue more meals for a sit down reception instead of a cocktail hour? also can we choose something from the regular menu in any of the restaurants for a cheaper price instead of the silver menu?
  12. so funny... does anyone know how the weather is that time of year? also, i've been online comparing prices and november seems to be one of the cheaper times to travel to mexico, but I am new to this whole thing, so I don't know.
  13. Hello everyone! We started this process back in December, and we have gone back and forth between a few different resorts in the Riviera Maya, and after much thought, we have decided thhat wea re going to get married at SMB on Nov 19, 2011....so far away, but we need time to save! Thanks for all the helpful info so far!
  14. everyone on here is sooo right... we decided to just push the date back another 7 months, so now everyone has 20 months to come up with the money if they want to go. i don't want to hear anyone complaining now lol! thanks for all your kind words of encouragement!
  15. I like the idea of DW because instead of spending all kinds of money on a one day affair in which you worry about what everyone else thinks, you can have a week long vacation with your closest family and friends for the same price. So, now that I've begun the planning for my DW next year, I have run into some problems. My fiance's mother called me selfish, saying that we need to invite all of the extended family. My mother is upset because her parents will not be able to attend, and none of her brothers or sisters are invited. My sister is upset because she has 3 young children, and her husband will not be able to attend, and she is overwhelmed having to go to another country without her husband, with the 3 kids. I would like to have an AHR back home to include the extended family that wasn't invited, but in my eyes it kind of defeats the purpose of the whole saving money on a big traditional wedding concept. Also, for my sister's sake, I was thinking of not including her kids in the DW, even though I really want my neices as my flower girls. Then I feel like it's kind of a selfish idea to have 2 celebrations for 1 wedding. I am so confused! Another thing, when we go to Mexico, we aren't even getting legally married. SO, it's like what's the point of a so called destination wedding, when your having an AHR, and your actually technically not even getting legally married?
  16. Dedicated2Us.... where is ur wedding and what time? we're getting married on the same day!! bride wars!! haha just kidding....just curious to know! congrats and happy planning!
  17. Thank you so much Simba! I emailed them the other day. They gave me a fax number to fax the letter of permission. That was all they said I needed. I'll keep you posted! Your so helpful thanksss again!!!
  18. celinacene--- thanks alot! i meant feb 2011 by the way. so i guess as long as i get the okay here at home from my priest, mexico won't have a problem with it? also i emailed the church yesterday, one email i sent in english, the other one in spanish(written by a spanish speaking friend) but they responded right away to the spanish one! i hope my priest is okay with me going to mexico to get married, and the fact that we already live together.....i really hope it's not a problem......
  19. Hey Everyone, I am planning to have my wedding at the oceanfront chapel in Feb 2010. I just decided on this yesterday! Anyway, I'm trying to figure out all the requirements for the catholic ceremony. I am a confirmed catholic, but my fiance is not even baptised. Does anyone know the ruling on this? I called my parish, and they said as long as he take the pre-cana class, he is all set, but I'm not sure how it works with the parish in Mexico. Anyone know??
  20. that is the worst thing i ever heard! so if it rains out, you can't do your first dance and all that stuff!! ? thats horrible!

I was actually just looking at some pictures of real touch bouquets online, and they are absolutely gorgeous! here's the link to the forum Flowers, decoration, cake, etc. - Best Destination Wedding Forum ~ The Ultimate Destination Wedding Resource
