It also has a 24 hour butler that you can call at all hours of the night (he stays across the way) and ask him for food, etc. He was super nice when we went on a tour and told us that if we out and about, we could call him and tell him that we would be home at X time, what we wanted for dinner and it would be on the table waiting for us when we arrived. Just so not the life I lead (but probably the one Britney does!)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! So happy that you had such an amazing time! Cannot wait to hear all about it!!
  4. Thank you so much everyone! I feel SO much better about my hair. I just don't want to spend $125+ and then have my sister do it in my room!
  5. Hair Question for you all - what are you doing? I'm getting married at AB, but am curious what the AB and AS brides are doing. I think I read somewhere on here the onsite hair dresser only realy could do updos. I have very, very fine hair. When I am in wedding, I usually just have get it blowdry so there is a little bit of body - the last two weddings I was in I had great people that did something more interesting - but it was all them, i.e., I sat in the chair and told them to do whatever they wanted. (Last wedding, the woman seriously played with my hair for an hour). If I get an updo, because I have no hair, I look bald. So, I not sure if I should try to do my hair myself, or if I should plan to have the hotel do it. I just don't want to spend $125 on something that won't work for my hair. Thoughts?

The Villa is beautiful - we saw it on our site visit and it's right on the property, but I think it is super expensive. Good luck with everything and if people have to stay at AS, it is their fault - did they not realize that a holiday weekend is a popular time to travel!

If I were to do that, are there photographers you would recommend? I would check with Tiffany to see what the "current" outside photographer policy is. To use an outside photographer, you have to pay $500 fee or have them stay for 3 nights. I recently booked (yes, I am getting married in less than 3 months! ) at the Azul Beach and was told that I could not use anyone that was Mexican-based that was not the "approved" photographers. We could, however, bring in someone from the United States. I am still baffled by this policy - I get the extra fee since they have relationships with certain companies, but I would think they would prefer for us to spend our money locally. We are flying someone in from Ohio - it's a little pricey, but something we decided to do. Hope that helps!

There are 3 nights in the hotel you have to pay for plus $500 to Karisma for the outside vendor fee, right? As others have said, it's one or the other. We're paying to fly 2 photographers down and for both of them to stay the 3 days, plus her fee to shoot the wedding. It's not the cheapest thing in the world, but we did not really like the two options we were given and the pictures are the one thing that I am particular about, so we opted to spend the money.

We get Caribe or Matias Cano and we didn't really like either of these options, so are flying in a photographer. He's absolutely AMAZING! Andrew Jordan. In fact you can find him on here under GroomsArePeopleToo. We're flying in Leah Stafford - we only had those two options and were told that for whatever reason, you cannot use someone else based in Mexico.

Any additional guest will have an extra charge, payable directly at the Hotel. This dinner reservation can only be booked to start at 18:00 or 18:30 hours. Any Special request must be approved in writting by the Hotel's F&B department. You know, I read that and just apparently ignored the Chef's special menu of the day. Everyone is coming on Sunday and the wedding is on Tuesday, so we were going to use the reservation for Sunday night, but if there is a limited menu, randomly in one of the restaurants, then we'll just go and wait for a table for the 18 of us. It wasn't going to be private at all anyway, so I would rather they have more options. We are going to do our private reception/dinner in the Wave Lounge I think and will do the ipod for music, and our first dance. We're just not having a big shindig, but will probably have a little dancing with the kids since, well, they really like to dance! So, do they close down the Blue for everyone else when they have wedding receptions there? Just curious since there are only 2 other dinner options (which are much smaller). We're doing the free wedding that was a special when we booked a few months ago and get a free dinner for two - we get there on Saturday and are having it that night since we'll have no privacy once everyone gets in on Sunday!
  13. Hi butting in here! We're getting married on April 27 at the Azul Beach. (FI and I are going down on 4/24, so we'll see the wedding of whoever is getting married there if that person is online here). (Taylor - I found Bree's pics on trip advisor last week). Still have no idea where the "real" thread disappeared to. I have not heard that the "free reservation" meant that you cannot order off the regular menu - that makes no sense to me - at all. We did a site visit in October before picking the resort and LOVED it (luckily I read online that the Karisma Miami people were hard to work with, so I was at least ready for it). The staff is wonderful and the onsite WC is great - he basically told us that if we tell them what we want, they will do it. We are doing a private "reception", but we are only having 16 guests, five of which are children aged 3-11, so we are not doing any dancing.

I think we know where we are going to do it (the Beach Resort has a smaller area that should fit us perfectly), but don't know what everyone is going to eat! WE're going to do the "free" meal as the welcome meal. (Although it seems like it's just a reservation and nothing more!)

There was someone that got married there in October (which was odd b/c when we were there in late October, the onsite person was telling us about her wedding and decorations and then I got online and randomly "found" her and saw pictures of what he was talking about!) Just wanted to see what they did with food, etc. since I am at a loss. We are only having 16 guests, which includes 5 children, so I was curious what they did. But it's strange, the thread is just completely MIA! Oh well! And Amy - totally go the cheesy route!
  16. Hi ladies - I am a bit of a lurker, but am getting married at the Azul Beach Resort on 4/27/2010 (only 98 more days!) Anyway, do all have any idea where the Azul Beach thread disappeared to? I have to finally make some actual decisions and give Tiffany some information by next week and looked to get the email of someone that got married there in October and it's vanished. I emailed the administrator yesterday, but have not heard anything. I think Amy is the only Beach Resort person, but I thought maybe you girls might know where it went! Thanks!
  17. Congrats! And welcome and happy planning!! People are very friendly and informative here.
  18. Congrats! We're getting married at the Azul Beach Resort 10 days after you - on April 27! YEA - April brides!

We don't even feel married! Too funny! We are planning on doing the exact same thing (was FI's idea). Where did you get married? In the courthouse? We want to keep it low key, but also thought about doing something super cheesy and Vegas-y.
