  1. Hello!!! I've booked September 18, 2010 at Dreams Riviera Cancun!!! I'm so excited! But the only thing I've done is set up a website, register and send out save the dates... I feel like the next big task is buying a dress But I don't feel like I've tried on enough dresses yikes...

When I sent out my invites, I put all of my TA's information on there and everyone is just booking through him, which makes it easy since he knows all of the details of the wedding. It is also much much much less stressful for me since I don't have to keep track of who is booking and worry about getting them good deals. My TA lets me know when someone books and soon he should be sending me a list of everyone's travel dates, flights, etc. I don't think that I could have done this all on my own without being super-stressed! I did the same - I cc my TA on my emails so she's in the loop but I work with Ana on the wedding details and my TA handles my guests travel and keeps me posted on who has booked
  3. Tara - I also went through a travel agent. When I emailed the hotel they offered good rates for our guests but they require that you put down a 20% deposit on each room for a block. We're inviting 140 people so putting down that big chunk of money and then chasing our guests down to book through the resort seemed like more of a hassle then I wanted. My TA is amazing and she makes my life much easier She also allows one price match. So all my guests can book today and then in June if the resort runs a special and cuts prices (they usually do if occupancy is looking low) my TA will rebook everyone at the lower price. I'm sure a lot of TAs do that, but if you're interested, I highly reccommend Berman Travel.
  4. Ohh such a fun topic! We really want to dance to Incubus - we're deciding between Echo and Dig - but I'm hoping we can find a live version that might be a bit slower...
  5. Hey ladies - it's been a while since I posted - I've been super busy with work ughhh. Thanks for posting the pictures of the reception sites - I think I like the deck for my reception. In the slide show that was posted a while ago there was a picture of the Jacuzzi area - it's just a grassy space a little ways from the pool. At least that's what it looked like in the picture I saw. We used a credit card too for our deposit - just in case - I think it's the safest way. Be careful though because some credit cards charge an extra $15 for any foreign transactions. American Express does not, so we'll be using that one going forward We sent out the save the dates at the end of October for our wedding in September 2010 - and then we have the website up and TA standing by. We invited 140 people so we wanted to make sure people had plenty of time to plan. I read in one of my magazines that you should send the Save the Date 10 to 12 mos in advance, the actual invitation 3 mos before the wedding and have the rsvp date be 6 weeks before the wedding. Happy thursday everyone!

I think I decided on a pink dress, but would love to know what you are doing! My colors are pink and orange too!! I just saw that JCrew has thier Spring 2010 colors posted on thier website for bridesmaid dresses and there's a super cute pink in chiffon that I think I'm going to go with! Also ladies - Ana sent me some pictures of weddings she did at her last resort (orange and pink only) - so if anyone is interested in seeing a few tablecloth, centerpeice, place setting options - feel free to pm me or post your email and I'll send it...I don't know how to post the pictures on here and it seems like most people can't open attachments anyway.
  7. Great information - thanks for posting! I think I'm going to go with something somewhat simple and stick with roses and maybe some orchids...
  8. Thanks for all the pictures and information! It's so helpful! I'll second what SDBeachGirl said about using a travel agent. We had narrowed it down to 3 resorts and my TA helped select the final one. If you get a TA who specializes in destination weddings, she's probably worked with the wc at the resorts before and has some relationship with them. Mine obviously hadn't worked with Ana before, but she's worked with the wcs at Dreams Cancun and Tulum so she understands (for the most part) thier policies. Also - I cc my TA on every communication with Ana and I find that if it takes Ana a little while to get back to me, my TA will reach out to her and light a little fire to get her to respond. She's also available for guests to book through and I think especially for the older people we've invited, they'll be more comfortable working with her then with the resort or using the internet to book you know?
  9. I actually think I remember asking Ana about the carribbean trio and she said they were steel drum but now I can't find the email...98% sure though...
  10. Hey ladies! So I got my save the dates yesterday! I can't wait to mail them out they're super cute! Did y'all get a chance to check out the new pictures on facebook? I went with the middle package - but we have 140 people on the guest list and I was told by my TA and by a friend who grew up in Mexico and got married at a dreams resort recently that for a group more than 40 it's cheaper to do the middle package and add on the extras. I would think that for a smaller group the free wedding package would work out best. I still haven't heard from Ana about a deposit yet...I'm going to email her tomorrow.
  11. Oh sorry I mean to post this earlier for you ladies - I also emailed Ana about the photographer and she said they could make that exception. My advice is print about 12 copies of the email where she tells you it's okay! I imagine thier rules change pretty often. I booked Elizabeth Medina - my fiance and I are in love with her work so we decided that pretty early on.
  12. Hey girls! I've ordered my save the dates - they should be in by Monday and we'll send them out right away. I've also posted a website - soooo excited! The pictures are amazing and I can't wait to start reading reviews on the hotel! I just inculded my travel agents info - she keeps me posted on who has called her to book a room/flight. I think as long as you have the booking info or travel agent info you don't need rsvp instructions on the save the date. We started with 120 people on the invite list and then literally within two days my parents have added another 20 people! yikes! How is everyone elses' planning going? I feel like since I booked the photographer and the resort - I really don't have much left to do at least for a while!
  13. Yay! Congrats Jenny and I'm so glad you joined the forum!
  14. I posted on facebook that I appreciate the picture of the wedding gazebo and Rod posted back that it'll look even better when it's completed... I still want a beach ceremony too though. Congrats Pam!
  15. I saw the gazebo on facebook too! Um I think you're right - it might look really cool decorated but it is a little strange...is it right by the pool too? I'm going to do a beach ceremony - has anyone been able to get pictures of the reception locations from Ana yet? I'm going to try her again after it's open and see if we can get some pictures. Also - my TA said that she called and requested brochures which should be available early next week - I'm hoping they'll have a wedding brochure up on thier website like the other dreams resorts.
  16. good morning! I live in Houston Texas (just moved here two years ago from Boston - quite a change). My fiance and I got engaged in Galveston - at Hotel Galvez - it was amazing! We're in the same boat - family in Michigan, Boston, Chicago, DC...destination is the best way to go!
  17. Hi ladies - I'm booking Dreams RC for my wedding in September 2010 tomorrow! I can't wait! We're going to have about 65-70 people and we're planning to do a series of private events leading up to the actual wedding day - so the advice I got was to do the middle level package - for $2,076 and then do my add ons (private welcome dinner, upgrade the flowers, colored tablecloths, napkins, tiffany chairs etc) and it will still come out more cost effective then doing the most expensive package. Also - we have a family friend from Mexico City who was doing most of my emailing with Ana and several other wedding coordinators at various resorts - we found that with her emailing in spanish, responses were coming a bit faster... That and if you're working with a TA - I suggest cc'ing your TA on everything - that also speeds up the responses!
  18. Hi ladies! I just started working with a travel agent - she went down to the resort recently and said she was "blown away" - thought I'd share!
  19. Okay thanks so much! Sorry I have no idea what I'm doing - but I've reached out to a travel agent so I feel like we're headed in the right direction...hahaha I'll try to keep my silly inexperienced questions to a minimum
  20. Allisa - I hope your dad feels better! I'm so sorry to hear about that! I have a couple stupid questions I was hoping you ladies could answer for me! I just spent the last 3 hours reading through past posts - it was sooo fun! 1. Who do you contact to speak to someone about options? I called the 800 number listed on the website but no one is ever available to take my call so I left a message yesterday... 2. Were you able to get a group rate from the hotel? Was it a decent rate?
  21. Hey ladies - I'm looking to get married in September 2010 either at Azul Sensatori or Dreams Riviera Cancun. I have a few questions maybe you can help with! 1. Have any of you talked to Ana about doing additional private parties and what options we have? For example, we want to do a welcome reception and a rehearsal dinner and possibly an after party after the reception. I got the pricing for the private reception but no menu options...Did any of you get that information? 2. Did anyone have pictures sent to them of the reception / ceremony locations? Thanks!
  22. Hi Ladies - I'm brand new! I got engaged in June and started researching destinations for our wedding. We decided last month on Mexico and then narrowed it down to Azul Sensatori and Dreams - I'm leaning towards Azul...I'm so excited to find this forum and your posts have been soooo helpful!
