  1. I would also like to have a photo guest book. Since Polaroid cameras are basically obsolete these days, my FI suggested just having our photographer make sure he gets photos of every couple (or attendants) and then we will paste them into the book that will be signed at the wedding once we get home. Another idea I had was to bring down a couple disposable cameras to have the guests pass around and take pictures of each other for in a guest book. However, then you can not monitor what pictures are actually being taken (i.e. if you are getting at least one of every couple) as mentioned previously.

Is the hair trial included with the wedding package or just because you are getting your hair done there on your wedding day? Jewellz55, would you be able to send me the pictures that you have for the hairstyles to [email protected]? Thanks.

I am also having both my hair and make-up done at the resort spa. Would you be able to post your experience with them and if you were happy with both the hair and make-up that they did for you? It would be greatly appreciated. I am very nervous about having them do my make-up for me, but there is no way that I would be able to do it myself since I normally don't wear make-up. Thanks.
  4. This thread is fantastic! Thanks for all the great tips. I have found from my past vacations that extra band-aids are always required. My FI and I tend to get blisters from the combination of water/sweat, flip flops and sand. For the "chub rub" I have always used a thin layer on deodorant on the inner thighs. I would also suggest to bring shirts to wear while you are snorkeling (if you go). It is very easy to loose track of time in the ocean and very easy to get sun burnt. We always have to make sure to have a few packed for my FI.
  5. My FI and I had a few requirements of the resort before we even knew which one we wanted. It had to have a great beach, good snorkeling right off the beach and an on-site PADI dive shop. I also wanted to keep it as affordable as possible to ensure as many guests as possible would be able to make it. For the price range that I wanted it was going to be between Cuba, Mexico and Dominican Republic. My FI and I were in both Cuba and Mexico for DWs in 2009 and decided that we wanted to try somewhere new. My travel agent came back to me with the Dreams La Romana. After signing up with this site and receiving so much great help and information, I am even more excited to go and can't wait to finally get there in 3 months!
  6. I would like to tip my WC, however I do not just want to give her cash. I was originally thinking of giving her a bracelet (or some other jewelery) but I think that this has probably been completely over done and the WC most likely has too much jewelery already. Does anyone have any other ideas for gifts for the WC? Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Thank you so much Nadia!!!! That is fantastic! The grounds look stunning and I am even more excited to go now. Do you have any pictures or comments about having a beach ceremony? Is the beach ceremony location at one end of the beach (and somewhat secluded) or is it easily accessible by others guests? Thanks again, it is greatly appreciated!
  8. The only information that I have from Tiara about the documents is located within the Wedding Packages information package. Welcome Julie! Any information that you have and isn't already posted would be greatly appreciated. WEDDING_PACKAGES_2010_DRELR.pdf
  9. Here are a bunch of pictures of flowers that I got from a fellow bride-to-be (Thanks Andrea!)
  10. I have received an email from Tiara outlining the prices of some additional "extras" that I am considering having for my wedding. Here are her responses (in red) to my questions: 2) Is the ceremony translated to English or is it performed in English? A legal ceremony is performed in Spanish and translated in English. 3) Does it cost $350 USD for the Live Music Trio for 1 hour? yes. 4) How much is it to have speakers with iPod hook-up to use on the beach for my reception? that will cost you USD 250.00 up to 4 hours. 5) What time are we allowed to stay on the beach until for the reception? Until 11pm. 6) Does the price of the chairs include their use for both the ceremony and the reception? yes. 7) What is the price for a ceremony centerpiece? The price will depend on the type of flower, but will be from USD 70.00. 8 ) Can I use the ceremony centerpiece as the centerpiece for the Head Table at the reception? Yes. 9) Are there table linens provided for the reception? (or is there a cost, of much how?) This is provide it. We have blue, white, red, orange and dark green. 10) What is the cost to have tikki torches for the beach reception? USD 7.00 each one. Additional extras that I would like to have are: i) rose petals to make an isle out of (instead of having the red carpet). (Is this $15?) USD 15.00 is for a basket of pedals and this is not enough for what you want. This will cost you approximately USD 200.00 ii) wedding cake for 30 people (How much is this?) you have a wedding cake for 10 people included. You will need 2 extra pounds that will cost you USD 30.00 per pound. iii) Bride's bouquet (included in Wedding in Paradise Package) the package includes you roses, lilies, callas lilies, bird of paradise, anthuriums and lisianthus. iv) Groom's boutonniere (included in Wedding in Paradise Package) v) Make-up application for bride ($45) vi) Hair up-do for bride ($75) vii) Judge Service ($300) Yes. viii) Silver Dinner for Reception ($1134 for 30 people) Yes. I hope that this helps to answer some of your questions that you may have.
  11. Does anyone know if the witnesses for the legal ceremony can be apart of the wedding party? When I asked Tiara, she just responded by saying that "the witnesses don't have to be part of the wedding party". I understand from this that the witnesses can be part of the wedding party, I just want to be sure. Thanks!
  12. I am pretty sure that I am going to have coasters as a wedding favor for all my guests (2 coasters each). These are the ones that I am thinking of; but I would like to have the date or our names etched on them as well:
  13. Hello Ladies! Maybride2010atDreamsLR: I have lots of answers for you; however I don't know how useful they will be. I am getting married on May 7, 2010 and are having the free wedding package and then upgrading/adding on anything additional that I want (which I am finding out is quite a bit and the price sure adds up quick!) We are going to have our ceremony on the beach at 4pm. I am just waiting to hear back from Tiara about the pricing for the different arches that are available. As well, I am waiting to hear back about the chair situation; and if the price you pay includes the use of the chairs for both the ceremony and the reception. I am having approximately 30 people attending and we are going to have a private beach reception with the Silver Menu ($30 USD per person + 26% taxes/service fees). I am going to have the legal ceremony performed and I am going to be using WeDo to handle all of the paper work. I want to have speakers which are iPod compatible for the beach reception and the first dance. However, I am not sure if this is possible and I am just waiting to hear back from Tiara about if it is possible and the price for it. I am not entirely sure what we will do after that, maybe disco, maybe lobby bar, but I am sure that it will all fall into place when the time comes. I have heard that the dance floor is just a few pieces of plywood stuck together and that it wasn't really worth it for the price. I think that just about sums it all up. I have emailed Tiara a spreadsheet with everything that I want for the day and I am just waiting to hear back on prices and availability. So, if I get any useful information, I will be sure to post it. Happy planning to all and thanks for everyone’s input and help, it is definitely appreciated!

But the buffet menus look really good. I do like the look of the buffet menu, it is just more money than the Silver menu and I think I would prefer to have our dinner served to us. This is part of an email between Tiara and I: "If I qualify for the free wedding, would the cost of the dinner plates be the cost that is listed on the Silver and Gold menus that you provided me with ($30 per person for the Silver menu and $35 per person for the gold menu)? Is the only qualification for the free wedding, having 5 rooms booked? Yes, also enclosed you will find the other menus options." The other menu options that she included was the entire buffet/conference menus. From her response, I was confused because I am not sure what question the yes answer was for; and that is why I just assumed the silver menu is ok to have.

I hope you have a great time there! Nicole, I do have all of the menus that are available. I am just curious about the buffet for the beach reception because Tiara hasn't mentioned it to me once. Thanks for your help.
  17. I am planning on having a beach reception and I haven't received a straight answer from Tiara about the dinner. I have asked a few times if I can have the silver menu and her response is always sending me menus. So I am just assuming that it is ok and a go. I am not sure what to do about chairs for the ceremony and reception. Does anyone have any pictures of the white folding ones and/or know if the charge for the chairs includes both the ceremony and reception? Cheers!

And whether or not the food was on the beach which I assume it would be. I have been waiting to hear back from Tiara as well. She has been taking longer than usual to get back to my past few emails. I was also inquiring about the beach reception since when I was first talking with her about it, she never mentioned to me that it has to be a buffet. I am waiting to hear back if I can have the Silver menu for my guests. If I hear anything, I will let you know. Cheers!

Tiera sent me a few emails with photos of cakes and flowers so if you (or anyone else on this forum) wants me to email them or post them, let me know. Hello, I would really appreciate the pictures that you have. I have been asking Tiara, but haven't heard back yet. My email address is [email protected]. Thanks!!!
  20. I am getting married on May 7, 2010 with a beach ceremony and beach reception. I have not been able to find many pictures at all for what the beach ceremony set up looks like, but here are the few pictures that I have received from the wedding coordinator. If anyone else has any more pictures of the beach ceremonies, could you please send them to me ([email protected]). Thank you!

I could be wrong, but that is how I understood it. Hope this helps.
  22. Well I put down a deposit for a wedding date of May 7, 2010 ... thanks for the heads up on the Cinco De Mayo celebrations. They do have organized festivities on May 5 for it, so I have decided to go with the 7th. I am just curious how long it has taken for people to get their written conformation from the WC? Thanks!

  25. Hello, I have been following this thread for about a week. Your comments have been very helpful, and thanks Amy for posting the pictures. I am planning to be married on May 5, 2010 at the DLR; although I haven't finalized the date yet with the WC. I have been doing a lot of research about this resort, although I haven't been able to find any pictures of the location for the beach ceremony area. If any one has any, it would be greatly appreciated! Throughout my research, I came across these pictures. Maybe some of you will find them helpful. member: kaki333 pictures and videos on Webshots Also, I have not been able to find the resorts photographer's portfolio anywhere. Does anyone have any of their sample pics? Thanks again and happy planning to everyone!
