  2. I am so excited for you. Congratulations! I am also planning my wedding at ERC in April 2011. I have been to the resort twice. It is absolutely amazing. Everyone owes it to themselves to experience a place like this. I can't think of a way to be disappointed there. I have had a very good experience with the wedding coordinator so far. Someone else has taken her place now, I believe, but I am sure she will be just as great. Service is definitely a strength of the excellence. Happy planning! I will be happy to answer any questions that I can for you.

I also picked up a few wedding planning books and have been reading through those and lots of magazines! Decided on a destination (Riviera Maya) and now trying to choose the right resort (leaning towards Excellent Riviera Cancun). TA Lindsay from this forum is already working on quotes for me (she's fantastic so far!) and I'm so excited I just want to get it all planned pronto! Its hard to be patient...I'm sure you ladies can relate! Where/When is everyone getting married?? I am getting married at teh Excellence Riviera Cancun. If you have any questions to help make your decision, feel free to ask me. I have been there a few times. I absolutely love it there!

As for the dress, yeah, I'm pretty confident I'll find a dress I fall in love with. Just hope it's one within my (very small) budget... LOL My budget does not leave me many options either, but everything I like is very far over the budget.
  5. I am so very anxious to go dress shopping! my mother lives on the other side of the country and I really want ot wait for her to be here before I go shopping. What kind of dresses is everyone thinking of or wearing? "Destination" dresses seem to be the more practical choice, but I still am dreaming of the true "wow" wedding gown. The one am have been fawning over is a fitted sheath type dress with this beautiful bustle piece that makes the dress look more like a trumpet/mermaid style. Then, I think abuot how hot it will be and I think a simple light gown would be better, but I feel like I would be settling. Any thoughts?
  6. Has anyone thought about the legal ceremony to symbolic ceremony issue? From reading some of the other threads it seems a lot of other brides are having a courthouse ceremony at home and then having a symbolic ceremony for their wedding abroad. I suppose it does matter which resort you choose though.
  7. We will be getting married at the Excellence Riviera Cancun resort. This is where FI proposed, so it just seemed like the right place. It is an absolutely amazing place- beautiful, romantic, and everyone is royalty. We are thinking of doing a "honeymoon" at the Excellence resort in Playa Mujeres just thirty minutes north.
  8. I think you could definitely have black dresses for your DW. It will be especially nice if your wedding is formal, but will be fine if it is informal, too. this is the great thing about DWs, anything goes! We are not bound by traditional wedding etiquette. If it is what you want, then it will be beautiful. Always have fun ladies!!
  9. I am definitely sending out save the dates in January once I have a finalized guest list. I have a three dates in mind depending on what the resort has available when I am able to book. Tifuhhknee, have you thought of a resort yet. Our date will either be the 21,22, or 23 of April. We might be at the same resort on the same day.

As far as pricing goes, I'm checking the same month/days for 2010 just for an idea of what is the best deal. I hope it doesn't go up too much, if at all for 2011! Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. We are getting married at the Excellence Riviera Cancun. This is where he proposed to me, so it was an easy choice for us. We love it there it is so romantic and just beautiful. The food is great and the service there is the best I have ever experienced in my life. Everyone is treated like royalty. We have chosen Claudia Rodriguez photography. I would love to have Sol Tamargo, but she is just too expensive. For the style of photography we are looking for, Claudia's pricing is unbeatable. The other Excellence resort in Playa Mujeres is beautiful, too. I have not been there yet. It is the newer of the two resorts and is a little more upscale. I just love the Excellence group, they do an amazing job.
  11. Congratulations! I am so much more excited for my wedding now! Thank you for the lengthy review. You are lucky to have Sol. Her work is amazing. I am sure your pictures will be beautiful. I am also happy to hear that you had a positive experience with the spa. I had been a little nervous about my hair and make-up for the day. Thank you again.
  12. Hi everyone! My FI and I are getting married in April 2011. We have picked a resort and even a photographer, but because the date is so far away, we can not book anything. I feel everyone's pain. I am so anxious to get started, but I can't do anything. I feel a little out of place posting to the resort thread as all of the brides are planning the details now. I am glad this thread was started so we can be here for one another. Thank you everyone!
  13. You bring up a good point about the witnesses having to be there early too. The more we talk about it, I think we will be having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico and a legal ceremony at home. Thank you for all of your comments everyone.

Plus, I really want to give everyone enough time so they have a better chance of being there.
  15. Thank you for replying to my question. I am very anxious to get the planning going, so I think I am just looking for anything I could do now. Soon...
  16. Hi Everyone! I also will be getting married somewhere else, actually the other excellence resort in Riviera Maya, and honeymooning at EPM. I have heard a lot of comments that it is incredibly buggy there, a lot of mosquitoes. Has anyone else had this experience? It is such a beautiful location and I am really excited about the oceanfront roof top terrace, but mosquitoes could ruin that. Thank you for your help.
  17. It sounds like everyone is doing a symbolic ceremony. I was wondering why? Is the legal ceremony that much of a hassle? My fiance and I are still deciding which way to go. I am afraid that a legal ceremony at home will make the whole celebration in Mexico pointless or less special. Though, I kind of like the idea of exchanging the traditional vows and then later exchanging our own at a symbolic ceremony. My fiance is a little weirded out by the requirements of a legal ceremony in Mexico. Any input from you all would be helpful. Thank you!!
  18. Hi Everyone! Are there any other 2011 brides out there. I have done everything that I can so far. We have our resort and photographer picked out, but we can not book either. I was just wondering...when is the earliest that I can send out save the dates? Any input? I am very anxious, but just have to wait.
  19. We were planning to have our wedding on the pier as well. Was the wind too distracting? Could you hear each other talk?
  20. Thank you! We are getting married at the Excellence Riviera Cancun in Puerto Morelos. It is where he proposed so it just seemed right.
  21. Hi Everyone, I am new to the site. My fiance and I are getting married at the Excellence Riviera Cancun in April of 2011. We can not do too much planning as it is so far away. I am just trying to get as much info as possible right now. It sounds like no one is too impressed with the site photgrapher. Any input?
  22. I have never been to the resort in DR, but I was told by my TA that the drive from the airport to the hotel is about and hour and a half on very bumpy roads. I have been the the ERC twice. It is absolutely beautiful. Everyone, bride or not, is made to feel like royalty. I am sure all of this would be the same in the DR too. Excellence resorts have that reputation. Just getting there and back is the big hassle.
  23. Hello everyone! My name is Katrina and I am new to the site. My fiance and I have been together for six years and are finally getting married in Riviera Maya, Mexico sometime in April of 2011. This site is such a great resource. I am happy to be a part of it.
