From what I've read, it sounds like the majority of you guys plan to get the legal stuff out of the way before heading down. Is there anyone out there who plans to/did do the legal marriage south of the border? Any advice to make the process go smoother? Brooklyn Carolina, you're getting married the day before me!! I originally wanted your date, but the Sunday works just as well for us too. The holiday weekend makes travel a little easier on the kids who will be missing some school to come down. Congrats!!! I am getting married on May 2nd. Less than two weeks! We are doing the legal ceremony in Mexico the morning of the 2nd before the bridesmaids and I head to Caletas. So far it has not been a hassle - we filled out a short questionnaire and sent copies of birth certificates, passports, and drivers licenses to Kelley. When we get to Mexico, we'll do the blood tests. I'll let you know how everything goes when I get back. So far we are really glad we decided to do the legal portion in Mexico.
  2. Ooohhh, personalized magnets are really fun idea!! Andi- How did you make the chapstick labels?
  3. Thanks for all of the great seating card ideas! I am torn between the umbrellas and the starfish!!
  4. I need some advice. I am not sure what to do about seating assignments...escort cards or just a simple list of table assignments? Does anyone have any recommendations? Or simple DIY ideas? Is there room at Las Caletas to lay out a bunch of escort cards? Thanks, Megan
  5. Has anyone gotten the Trio? We are planning on using an ipod for the reception and thought it might be fun to have some live music for a little while during cocktail hour. Thanks.

Anyone know about the drummers? Do they perform at the same time as the fire dancers? Or is it completely separate? It is $450 to get the firedancers and drummers. They perform together.
  7. Nikki - I am so impressed! Where did you find the starfish that you used on your boarding pass invitations? I have been looking everywhere and haven't been able to find any that I like but yours look great! Thanks, Megan
  8. Wow, I was shocked to realize that my wedding is less than four months away! Where does the time go? For any of you that hired any of the live musicians, I would like to hear what you thought and if you think it is worth the money? We are considering either the trio or the solo guitarist but it is pretty pricey.

It sounds so much easier to do it here first but that isn't really what we had in mind originally. We haven't decided where we are going to do it yet. Once we do I'll let you know. We are going to do it Saturday and we are getting married at Las Caletas on Sunday. We were originally going to get married on Saturday so we were going to do the legal ceremony the same morning at the LC office before leaving. Now we have a little more freedom as far as timing/location so I'm still trying to decide.

We are planning on doing the legal ceremony in Mexico. It entails a little extra paperwork and a blood test but we think it is really fun and romantic to have the legal ceremony performed in Mexico in Spanish with a Mexican Judge the same weekend as our wedding!!

Melissa Yes, you will still be able to go out early on a Sunday. And you basically get the whole place to yourself since they are not running day trips!!! I'll let you know how it goes after May 2.
  12. Wow Erin!! Thank you so much for the great review. Everything looked perfect! Reminds me that I need to get back into planning mode. We have been thinking about doing a Tres Leches cake...it is one of our favorites as well. So I am dying to know how it tasted, what it looked like and if you would recommend it. Also, where did you (or Andi) get your pashminas? Thanks, Meg
