Ah thanks Amy. yeah we all fly out together, on the same flight on Sunday 2 May! I think I'm in denial about it at the moment, I'm actually finding it quite amusing! - everyone else is worrying more than me, but until we know we can't go I haven't got space to worry about it! lol
  4. oh, and Amy...if we make it to mexico, I have decided (ha I made a decision!! lol), I am NOT leaving Mexico without a pic of me and you together! that is the mission and congrats ladies on paying your final balances for your weddings we have paid off our holiday, but the wedding we are paying when we get there. FMIL is going to get our money all changed up tomorrow (it's quite a lot!) into cash so I hope she doesn't get mugged on her way home! once we've got that I'll be so excited! and I need to start packing soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did our ceremony on the lobby terrace at 3pm (earlier than we had hoped, but there was another later wedding) and the reception on the lobby terrace at 6pm. Both were fantastic. The timing between the ceremony and reception actually worked out fine as it allowed us to take lots of pictures (after the champagne toast with the group) and people could just hang out in one of the many places in the beautiful lobby. I can't remember if there was any lobby entertainment going on Friday night, definitely not karaoke. There was a Mexican bazaar/shopping stands on the lower level terrace, and our guests had fun wandering through that a bit but it did not detract from our party at all. I am happy to share pictures, more stories/advice/questions if anyone has them! my email is [email protected] Have fun and don't worry about a thing, it will be awesome! ~Elizabeth "Danks" Johnson April 9, 2010 Hey Elizabeth - congratulations on your wedding!!! and on having what sounds like an amazing time! I'd definitely like to see pictures and I've sent you an email thank you so much for sharing!
  6. soooo....just because I clearly wasn't stressed out enough already, an Icelandic volcano decides to erupt and ground all UK flights into and out of the UK. all UK airports are shut and have been for the past 3 days, and still will be tomorrow when they look again at the problem. if that's not bad enough, they're worried the volcano next to it may erupt any time soon and then it all starts all over again. I'm trying not to panic as 2 weeks (that's how long it us until we fly out) is a long way away for something that's being reassessed daily, but we spent half of today going through our options for just about every different scenario. I feel more prepared for whatever happens. Now it's just a case of wait and see..... WATCH THIS SPACE! lol oh what fun!

Tuesday night was Kareoke, as was Sunday...I would not have reception on terrace those nights. Maybe once you get there, spend that night at the same time as your reception will be to see what the conditions are. My other concern would be about guests being respectful of your privacy as the terrace is rather large. We get married on a Friday - can you remember the entertainment schedule?! lol but that's a really good idea to spend an evening there and see what it's like, i'll make sure we do that Quote: Originally Posted by Angelfire We had 17 in our party and the small banquet hall was perfect. I didn't want to be able to sit down and I told her that but no one listens aw Amy I know there's nothing I can really say that's going to make you feel any different right now, but you are gorgeous and you have a figure that I don't know of one girl on here who wouldn't pay to have a figure like yours. and don't forget that the mood you're in when you try anything on can affect how you see yourself in it. maybe you weren't feeling too up when you went to have the fitting? and you will be able to breathe, and don't worry about bending down - why would you want to?! lol and on the plus side, at least you can be sure it's not going to fall down and leave you with a wardrobe malfunction. as for the waist and hips that you don't think is tight enough - tell her. go back and tell her you want it tighter. you know you won't be able to sit down, and that's fine because that's how you want it to be. if she can't do it in 2 weeks, find someone who can. it's not ideal I know, but there are options and so long as you have options, it will all be ok let us know how you get on, and if you feel differently in the morning. did anyone take pictures? just so you can see it through a camera rather than your own cynical eyes? maybe you'd feel differently looking at them? Big hug. xx
  9. haha girls, thank you all, but i'm really not just saying it, but they are good photos! in no other pictures (or real life!) do I look that tiny! the one thing I was disappointed about with the dress is that I didn't think I looked that slim in it - and that's me being honest...not just a moan! but, I just keep telling myself that other people have said that I look slim in it, so I just have to hope others see what they saw (or didn't see! lol) and not what I do!! guttingly tho, I just weighed myself and I've put on about 3lbs so now I've seriously got to sort myself out. I have been slack on the working out the past few weeks so I shouldn't really be that surprised but still sucks! at least it's given me a kick up the backside that I need to get back on it again. tomorrow is a new day and i'm going to rock it! and now do you see why it would be a shame to have a veil!?!?
  10. haha Amy, now I feel like I've bigged it up too much! you'll all look at it and be like 'what detail?!' lol anyway...here it is (and remember this was before it was altered properly but you get the idea! The lace across the back is wider now - that was pulled in really tight to try and make it fit!!

I've decided against wearing a veil. The back of my dress is so beautifully detailed (I'll try and post a pic!) that a veil would hide it and I want people to be able to see my hair!! it's been one of those decisions where I've really not known what to do as it wasn't something I had particularly strong opinions about - just had to try and decide what I wanted to do!! ahhh I knew there was something you were doing today!! (I was half right! lol) good luck with that - are you going to post pics?? I want to see!! bet it will look amazing! "This Kind of Love" by Sister Hazel LOVE IT !!! After listening to mostly songs by female artists, I realized I really thought a man singing would be better. I am walking down the aisle to Alicia Keys, and thats a girl saying how she needs nothing but him, so this one is vice versa. So perfect! Now on to find exiting down the aisle songs.... The bachelorette pix look amazing thanks Amy... and yep, that's what I'm hoping! from the feedback I've had from past brides I should be ok - they're english is not very good, but take a photo and they're brilliant at replicating! and I've heard they overly love a bit of hair spray so think I should be ok with that! I will probably leave it all like that for the whole day, and then the next morning we have our TTD session so I was going to take it out and try and redo it as I had it for my hen party instead! ooo are you on my facebook and I didn't realise?? the pics are great - I keep looking through them and smiling. I had such an amazing night
  12. oh, and I will also have had my highlights redone the week before we go!! haha bit of roots going on there!
  13. hey girls....I HAVE MY DRESS!!! IN MY HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!! it feels amazing!! so, as promised, here are some pics of my hair trial which hopefully the hairdressers at the resort will be able to recreate... I love it! and when I tried my dress on before I tried the jewellary on with it and it looked perfect...then today I took my tiara and tried it on with the dress and again i thought it looked perfect. the outfit is finally coming together Good luck with your final fitting Amy!! it's Thursday isn't it?

That's fine...actually helps a ton with the budget BUT looking at the guests who have confirmed or told us that they were going to attend...it's pretty much all my side! AHHHH! I feel so bad for Stephen. I don't know why his family all the sudden can't make this happen. He isn't home right now but he is going to be heartbroken when I tell him that his cousin declined. What should I do about this? Should I encourage him to invite more people. (He had originally wanted to but I discouraged him bc of size and budget.) Should I email some of his friends and tell them to start booking. Maybe that wil even things out and make him feel a little better. I totally expect atleast a handful or more of his friends to make the trip but with none of them having paid, make me really nervous. Has anyone else experienced a lop-sided RSVp situation? Hi Amanda, my advice would be if it's getting one-sided and some people are declining, say to your FI 'as so-and-so has declined, is there anyone you would like to invite in their place' - that way it should not affect the budget but gives him a chance to get some people there from his side. We've been replacing people 'like for like' and it's really helped us manage our budget, as well as making declines so much easier to deal with as now we get excited as we can choose someone else to invite instead!! hope that helps! Yesterday was my 2nd (and last apparently) dress fitting and was having a bad morning already, Sunday through Monday arguement with FI and since we work together and drive together now (he just sold his car and is buying a new one) there's no escaping each other. So my MOH & bridesmaid who were supposed to come with me I let them they didn't need to come because I was having a bad day etc. and they both ended up shifting their schedules to come and suggested we find a wine bar and have a glass of wine after the fitting was successful and the dress came home with me. This ended up being a whole night of wine and no wedding stuff soooooo I really need to lock it up and get focused! Needless to say, we had a blast aww thanks it turned into a bit of a theme for the night and they weren't even ours!! lol I know what you mean, but what I was trying to get across in a very roundabout way (!!) was that, you're not alone. aw sounds like you had a good time at your dress fitting it must be hard not being able to have any time apart to just both destress from each other, so even more why you needed last night well tomorrow evening is my final (again!!) dress fitting! they took it in 2 inches last time, and this time I think its about an inch and a half, but more round the waist rather than down the sides of the corset. we'll see how this one goes! i hope it's right coz I'm running out of energy to keep going back! only 13 more days of work!!!! 19 days until we fly, and 24 until we're getting married!!!! wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  17. This is a link to the thread - http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...l-beach-55613/
  18. Hi tracey, there is already an Azul Beach brides thread in the Mexico sub-forum. Take a look - there's quite a lot of information in there already. An MOD may delete this thread as one already exists - just to pre-warn you. Good luck!
  19. And Amy....from another bride who's the same distance away from their big day I'm feeling ya! I'm on a total emotional rollercoaster (apart from my hen night!). I don't have energy to do anything; I have stopped working out, but at the same time I'm so distracted I have also gone off food; I am putting all my energy in the evenings into doing wedding things, and then I realise I'd forgotten about something and then feel crap again; I am sooooo excited about going as it's only 19 days now until we fly but it means it's hard to maintain focus; as soon as the smallest thing goes wrong I want to ball my eyes out... I feel like we all deserve a medal when we make it to our wedding dates! But stay positive hun...you've planned and organised so much, you don't have anything to worry about. you shouldn't feel alone - I know from your facebook page you are not short of really good friends, but if you feel like that, get in touch with them and ask them to help you out - what have you got to lose? at least that way you won't look back and wish you'd done something. if they still then don't make the effort, you know you tried and therefore you can be safe with a decision to just forget about them for now. and your friends are even offering to clean your house! that's amazing!! I would imagine that most of the problems you're having with some emotions connected to the wedding are to do with lack of sleep. Maybe one evening just take a night off and have a nice relaxing bubble bath with candles and just get into bed. A good night's sleep can make the world seem like a very different place sending you a huge huge sister-bride hug

Whoops! I hadn't been feeling like myself, I was tired, my chest was super sore, I was nauseated each morning after I ate breakfast and something just told me the check... and now we have a little whoops! We're happy and we are terrified. We planned on trying right after our wedding... I guess we're just 7 months early. They think I might already by at least 6 weeks already. We haven't told anyone expect our parents and MOH, oh and our WC. We're just waiting for the results of all my blood work, to confirm the date and make sure the babies healthy but obviously changes our plans drastically. Our WC told us to keep our November date because we have such a good price, but if we have to move it, there's no way we'll get that price after November at the AS. I just don't know if I would want to take a baby that young to Mexico. She then suggested her favorite result in Cuba for January, which is an option. If we have to move it, it will be to move it back, not up. January/ February seems more ideal. But we don't want to put it off longer than that. It's so crazy that something you are looking so forward to can be changed instantly like this. Don't get me wrong, we're super happy, we just weren't expecting this to happen.. and when I mean little whoops... I mean little whoops. The funny thing is, I've been working out like crazy, eating healthy, losing weight, inches... just let this be a lesson to everyone... LOL WOW!!!!!! Christa - huge huge huge congratulations!! that's so exciting! and that is the best attitude to have...you can't change it, things happen and they happen for a reason...we just have to try and deal with them. at the end of the day, you're going to have a beautiful baby with the man of your dreams - what could be more perfect?! and like someone's said already...what a great story to tell them when they grow up!! I hope everything gets sorted out with your hotel - it sounds like they're being really helpful so thats good. and another good thing is that you are quite a way out....at least your not like 3 months away or something when even more is planned, booked and paid for!! I better stop working out though - if I'm pregnant when they do the blood test they won't legally marry us!! lol but being mega-organised, we do have a back up plan...if I were to, we'd not tell people and have a symbolic ceremony and then have a legal one back here. bit of a random thing to have a back up plan for but I just wanted to make sure we'd thought of everything!! Sara, you are probably feeling mad at your FI because now it's going a bit wrong and getting stressful. stick to your guns - it may have been his idea, but you agreed to it as well, and I know how easy it is to want to throw it back in their face when things start to go wrong (I know because a DW was my FI's idea and I used to get mad at him every time something started getting stressful or going wrong. Then I realised, when it goes well, I'll thank him for it too, and I did also agree to it.) I know it's hard but do not let wedding planning make you stress at your FI - just remember why you agreed to marry him in the first place and that when you strip it all down, the only 2 people who really, REALLY matter on the day are you two. the rest is all just a bonus. chin up girl
  21. GORGEOUS pics girls!! Roo - I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself and even got down to just the shoes!! Bet the experience at FYEO was amazing! I haven't seen one pic anyone's posted on here that I haven't been 'wowed' at! Never a doubt in my mind - would do it again in a heartbeat! congrats to all the girls who've done it, and for those that haven't - what are you waiting for?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I'm really sorry to those of you that have been having a tough time of it of late. it seems to be the way a lot of us are feeling at the moment. I thought I was doing alright until I got sent the wrong dress and that just pushed me right over the edge. I was obviously stressed about everything but had been hiding it...then it took for one thing to go wrong and I was a state. good news is, it seems like a totally normal thing to be going through. and emotions is one of those things you just have to go with....so don't feel bad for feeling how you're feeling girls - it's the whole journey that makes this so rewarding when we get there. and the same goes for those arguing with their FI. those who've been on this thread longer may remember there was a load of us who seemed - all at the same time - to be having huge major rows with FIs and we all had had to have 'the talk' and assess if we were making the right decisions. I'm not saying it's easy, just that it's normal and try not to think too much of it. sometimes we need to have these to get things off our chest and remember why we love each other and are doing what we're doing. As for those with problems with 'friends', if my night on Saturday taught me anything, it was who are real friends and how precious they are...those are the ones that matter. this wedding has brought a lot of things into perspective and shown people in a different light (whether that be a better one or worse one). I know which I will make more effort with and treasure more, and those that will probably just become a name on the Christmas card list sorry for the general response
  23. Good morning ladies I am on cloud 9!!! I had THE most amazing night at my hen do on Saturday. I still can't stop grinning and my voice is almost non-existent! but it was just what I needed. A night out with amazing friends and no stresses, just relaxing and having a good time (and getting drunk! lol). the night wasn't without it's dramas but it was brilliant nevertheless. got back to my friends at about 4.30am and think we went to bed about 5.30am haha love it! pics are on my facebook for those who want to see (and still other people's pictures to come). sorry I'm at work now and am strapped for time to try and get them onto photobucket and then copy links etc etc (yep, I'm being lazy!! lol) the dress I ended up wearing was one I ordered after complaining to the company that sent me the wrong one. They gave me a full refund for the other dress, including my cost of next day delivery, and gave me 10% off the new dress I ordered and sent it next day delivery free of charge My BF (the one who pulled out of Mexico) turned up late she (and her mate) didn't even make it to the meal, and got to the club about 11pm. I should be bothered (everyone else there was) but I decided that if I did, it would only ruin my night and I didn't want anything to do that so I just accepted it and moved on, but the things are being stored in the back of my mind until after the wedding! I had my hair trial on Saturday too and I will upload the pics on here because I was soooo happy with it. now all I have to do is pray the stylists at the hotel can recreate it! good thing is, that hairstyle then also formed the basis for my hair for my hen night (my hairdresser just took the tiara out and let most of the curls out so I had a half-up, half-down do) I also took my engagement ring into the jewellars yesterday to get some scratches buffed out before the wedding....so now I am weirdly engagement-ring-less. I have moved my ring from my right hand there instead so I at least have something. can't believe the weekend's over already....now no more time off until we actually fly out. 3 full weeks left of work!!!!!!!!!! and then 3 weeks off!! woooooooooo!

OMG yes!! you have sooo got to try and come over to my hotel and see us!! FI will love to meet you - I talk about all you girls on here haha i think sometimes he thinks i've got imaginary friends! we'll be on the net while we're over there so once we both know what's going on when, we can sort out the most convenient time to meet! oh cool, it's going to be so great! one of the DW brides at my resort will be there at the same time as me too so I get to meet her as well!! woooo ***************** ok excitement and laughter over...I'm on a major downer. My LBD that I ordered for my hen night on Saturday, arrived today....great! except they'd packed the wrong dress and it's not the one I ordered. I thought 'ok stay calm, think about it' and thought I'll reorder it and pay next day delivery and take it up with them afterwards...but NO!!!!!!!!!!! they no longer have any more in my size only bigger I'M FUMING and soooo upset. I seriously would be crying right now if I stopped myself thinking about the fact I'd then be crying over a dress. I've complained to them but all they've done is apologise and given me a discount code for 10% off my next order - if it's made before 5/5/10! how nice of them. NOT! arrrggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh h Saturday I am mega busy and already going to be rushing from pillar to post. FI has said he'll come with me after work tomorrow and see what we can find. but I could so do without the stress right now...and I LOVED that dress AND! (lol) fuming too that a 'friend' has booked a holiday leaving tomorrow and will miss my hen night - but that's not the problem. she didn't even tell me she wasn't coming. so I thought 'ok probably really excited about the holiday and slipped her mind'. so I commented on one of her status's on f/b and just said 'so I take it that means you're not coming Saturday?!' and rather than a message or comment back apologising and saying it just slipped her mind etc (which I would have been totally fine with), she just DELETED it!!!!!!!!!! not a word, message, comment or text of her. just deleted and ignored. i know it's not the end of the world, but we have booked a table in a restaurant and I didn't think a bit of common courtesy would have been too much to ask. So yeah, great night. blaaahhhhhhhhh
