  1. Maggie Sottero has a lot of really nice dresses! Bahia, your dress is georgious too! I do believe that was one of the ones that I tried on and also liked very much. Ahhh, such a hard decision. This is another nice one that I was considering. I think it looks better in person though. The model's pose makes it seem like it is a nightgown! But it is just really really pretty! 2. Is anyone doing the symbolic ceremony instead of the legal ceremony? I think we have decided to, just to avoid any complications and extra fees. We are thinking of doing the legal thing AFTER the actual ceremony in Mexico. We want the first time that we say vows to be on the beach in front of family and friends. We don't want to make a big deal of the legal ceremony at all....just to make it seem as though the beach ceremony is the "real" thing. Do you happen to know if the resort requires a marriage certificate in order to have a symbolic ceremony. I have heard that some resorts require this and therefore we would have to do the legal ceremony before going to Mexico. Just wondering if anyone has looked into this yet.

It is silk chiffon and is so light weight and comfortable, yet it is very elegant. Take a look at the beads on the back of the dress. I love it! I'm still looking a bit. But this one is nice because it still looks flattering but is light weight. Thought I would share with anyone struggling on light weight vs. glam! I think this dress has both! I ended up w/ what I was first attracted to though - lace in a sheath/trumpet style. So maybe Mexico-beachy? I dunno. David's Bridal - Allover beaded lace trumpet gown with empire waist and cap sleeves. Oh, and K, I also just posted a response on your NY brides thread about TTD. I love this dress! What material is it? Do you know if the material breaths? That is my main concern.

Our best man is not wearing a suit though, just khakis and a white shirt. Goood luck! So you're looking at the Caprice too?! Isn't it beautiful! It was between this and the Reese, but I think I am leaning towards the Caprice...though I plan on looking a bit more, just to make sure. What color shirt is your FI wearing and is he wearing a tie? I have also read that sometimes the beach weddings look nice witout a tie...so it still gives a little of a casual feeling. Is your best man wearing long sleeves or short sleeves?

  8. I have a question... I am interested in the dress (possibly in Ivory). Caprice - by Maggie Sottero What should the groom wear? We are havng a beach wedding in the Spring and it will be warm. I had originally wanted him to wear a Tommy Bahama shirt with khakis and flip flops. Will that not look good? Should he wear a suite? If so, do you think a linen suite would be ok. Any suggestions you have would be great!

I love Wednesday's (well for you all it is Tuesday but in Australia they release the photos on my wednesday!). SDBeachgirl - That does suck about there being more than one wedding a day. I would assume that they would have them at different times but the resort is not THAT big. It is hard to pick the locations for the reception because not sure how many people we will have and the options. Does anyone know the reception options for this resort in specific? The options I was given were, the terrace, the deck, the sand, or the ballroom. There may be other locations. I think I read something on facebook about the area around the pool.
  10. Thanks! These posts are very helpful! Actually I had thought I wanted a white dress, but when I tried on an ivory dress, it looked really good on. I think my skin actually will look ok in either color. But, the ivory dress did look very classy. I do want to make sure that it stands out from the sand since most of my pics will be taken on the sand. But from your posts, it sounds as though that should not be a problem. So, now this is yet another decision I have to make! If I wear an ivory dress, what color shirt should the groom wear? If we decide to go with a suit, what color suite woud go?
  11. Hi there, Does anyone know if the pictures look better against the sand with a white dress? I tried on a dress that I liked both in white and ivory, but thought the ivory looked a little classier. Someone mentioned that white looks better in photos on the sand. Does anyone have an oppinion of this? Or does anyone have any good photos of an ivory dress on the sand?

Can I ask what your groom will be wearing? I too am looking at this dress along with the Caprice by Maggie Sottero. I had wanted to have my groom and the groomsmen wear white or ivory tommy bahamas shirts and khakis. However, this dress is so elegant, that I am not sure this combination would work. We may have to go with the linen suites. Just curious what you are planning.

I posted the question there hopefully Rod will answer soon. Will let you all know if he says anything. Yeah, I actually saw Rod's response after I posted the question on this forum. I guess the person who posted that there would only be one wedding per day was incorrect. Bummer! I wonder how that will work. I was told that I could tentatively choose my wedding/reception location and then change my mind at a later date. Now I'm worried that if I change my mind, it may be too late. I wonder if it would be one wedding in the early afternoon and one in the evening. So at least we would still have our choice of locations. Hopefully Rod will be able to answer some questions!
  15. I read someone's post on Facebook that only one wedding is scheduled per day at Dreams. Has anyone else heard this or heard otherwise? I was just curious if we would have to share our day with anyone else.

I use the travel agent Jill, who is on this website. You can find her info if you click on the tab at the top. She has been very helpful to me from the beginning. I needed help finding a resort and she was able to help me find answers to all of my questions...and I had (and still have) a lot of questions. She has also been working directly with the WC at Dreams. As for rates, she claims to have the best rates but I have seen the same rates and some that are better on the Dreams website. She is able to match the rates, but it is true that it is one extra step. I have told my guests to do their research before contacting her to ensure that they get the best rates. I still think it is nice to have one contact that helps answer my questions. She also was a Dreams Cancun bride so has gone through this herself. I hope that helps.

I have not decided if I will go with him or not. I would like to since it comes with the package, but have seen a lot of brides using outside photographers which makes me wonder...
  19. Hi all, The Dreams Riviera Cancun page on Facebook is asking people to post their wedding date. I am an annonymous reader for now, but is interesting to see when everyone else is getting married. Also, hopefully we will see some photos. Weddings! | Facebook

Everyone will be so excited to see them! I do not have any info on the layout of the resort. I don't think anyone is sharing that info yet. I did get a list of the wedding and reception locations. Wedding locations - I have heard that there will be a gazebo off to the side of the resort with the ocean as a backdrop. Then there is the option of the ceremony on the sand. Reception locations - deck, beach, terrace, or ball room. There may be more options, but this is what I have heard about so far. I read on facebook that photos of the locations will be available in about 1 week. I'm excited about that! Yes, I will take photos on my trip. Hopefully by then I will have earned enough points to post them on this website. I feel like anytime I try to do someting on here, it tells me that I don't have sufficient access. Either way, I will find out how to share the photos.

I would imagine she forwarded the email. Do you have access to a scanner? I would say that would be the easiest. Faxing to Mexico might get expensive...

May try to get my sister to go and check it out though. I hear they offer reduced rates for people doing a site visit. Did you get a discounted rate for the site visit? No, I didn't get a special rate for doing a site visit. I hadn't heard about that. Where did you see that info? I think they are offering good deals though and we were able to book a plunge pool room. The airfare was more pricey because it is during Thanksgiving weekend. But the resort rates seemed pretty good.

I will be visiting during Thanksgiving and hopefully will also get to meet with the wedding coordinator while I am down. I am really excited for that visit! Are you doing a site visit at all? We actually just sent in our payment via bank check. I just wanted to get it taken care of and cross that off of the list.

Plus, I don't want our guests to have a skewed view on the wedding if they knew it wasn't real. We decide against the legal ceremony mostly b/c of the cost but I am nervous about the blood test and I have heard horror stories about how long it takes to get your legal certificate from Mexico. So, you don't have to provide a marriage certificate in Mexico? I just assumed we would do it prior to Mexico. I hadn't thought about doing it afterwards. But that is something to think about. Just curious, why do you prefer the idea of having the legal ceremony afterwards? Then when you get married...you aren't really Mr. and Mrs...right away. I wish it wasn't this hard!!
