Does anyone have any recommendations for which resuturant to choose a la carte from? Jascynthia sent over the Japanese and Mexican which I nixed, so I'm left with the Posiedan and Xaymaica creole Restuarnt. Also can we mix and match from the menus? She didn't say If I could or not, just how many to choose. Thanks! Dana
  2. Petals, I love all your photos and it looks like you had an amazing time. I sent all of your pictures to our photographer for inspriation! We are also doing a TTD session the morning after. I have a second dress, not a wedding just long and white. I really want to wear my real dress though. Did yours get ruined from the salt and chlorine? Thanks for all of your posts throughout your planning, you have been very helpful! Dana
  3. Hi All, Quick question: Do they supply a set up for you to play music during the ceremony or do you have to rent and does it have to be a CD or can you use an ipod? Also would anyone know if it does have to be a CD do they have any trouble playing burned CDs? I know you have to rent speakers for the reception. Thanks!
  4. Petals, I'm so glad you had a great time. it was nice to reread after the blasting of the resort. I know some people who stayed at the resort earlier in the year, and they had no complaints. Also, I love, love, love your pictures. I sent the facebook link to my photographer for inspiration! I really like the fact that she made use of the beautiful architecture that the resort offers, which I had yet to see done. Where did you honeymoon in Negril? We are staying at Sunset at the Palms in Negril following our wedding. 20 days until we leave!

  6. Congratulations petals, everything sounded great despite the rain! I'm going to check out you teaser pics as soon as i can, at work right now One question, do they supply a set up for you to play music during the ceremony or do you have to rent and does it have to be a CD or can you use an ipod? 7. Thanks Turk, Since my last post we actually booked a different photographer. She will be a guest at the resort for four nights, I'm guessing she will also have to be included as a wedding guest! So what is the deal then, just pretend she is a wedding guest with a love of photography? We actually lucked out with her, she is a wedding photog looking to break into destination weddings, so we bartered trip for shoot and photos, then she can use us in her portfolio. Plus we are doing a TTD shoot the next day! Lexico- I feel your pain, we had everything booked for Mexico as well, and now are scrambling to get it all done for our June 29th wedding. I especially look forward to hearing your feedback since we seem to be in the same boat. Good Luck and keep us posted!
  8. Petals, good luck and have a blast! I found a photographer who will be in Jamaica the day of my wedding and has offered to come that day and shoot for a great price. Does anyone know the rules for bringing in an outside photographer that is not a guest? do you have to buy a day pass, do they count as a guest at the wedding? Will they give me any problems doing this?

I will be there until the beginning of July...so I will get to see your ceremony. Panda, I am in talks with a wedding photographer now. She is trying to break into destination weddings and is willing to barter with me, free hotel and airfare for the shoot, and a dvd of all photos. Maybe we can work something out, we can split her hotel and airfare and offer a payment for both weddings. I will be talking to her tomorrow night, so if you are interested let me know and i can feel her out.
  11. Hi Panda! I will be there when you are getting married, we are getting married on June 29 at 4pm. I am definitely going to look for you ceremony! Did you guys book a photographer? Snowangels, my birthday is April 13, ad have always had wonderful birthdays, so I think the date will bring your marriage luck!

I think that package was $30pp after 8 people. It was my understanding you can not have any form of entertainment unless you rent the Blue Lagoon so I wouldn't bank on being able to bring your ipod to the poisedon. You can still rent out the BL with the tropical package and save yourself $20pp over the Caribbean package which would help pay the $300 rental fee! It seemed that anything can be changed once you get there. They did want to know our meal choices 1 month prior to arrival but I don't think she really ever looked at it; hence why the filet mignon we were promised was a ribeye! Make sure you contact Jascynthia when you get there to arrange a meeting time! BE PROACTIVE! Once again, don't stress too much, Jascythia really did take care of everything once we were on site! THANK YOU! this just made my life a little bit easier. We are going to do the Tropical package and the Blue Lagoon. That seems to be the best and most cost effective way to do private, and since you can't bank on any of the menus from the carribbean package being available, why bother. I can't believe that with the $300 fee they can't throw in the speaker! Since they charge and additional $300 to rent theirs we are going to find some small wireless speakers for around $300 and bring them with us, then at least we get to keep them!

Also right now we have the Carribbean package down and are penciled in for the Blue Lagoon, if we change to the one lower, Tropical(?) does that include the dinner at Poisedon? Or would we have to pay extra? Can all/any of this stuff be changed when we sit down with Jascynthia? This is all so confusing , it would be nice to get answers from the source! But this forum has been so helpful.
  14. Has anyone used the hotel photographer? I'm trying to book another but am having difficulty given the tight timeline and the lack of budget (a wonderful photographer was originally included in our wedding package in Mexico). So my real question is, does anyone actually know if the hotel photographer is as bad as i hear? Does anyone has shots from them that they can share??
  15. Thanks Petals, you have been a big help. My father actually spoke with Jascynthia's assistant today and she said to him that we could choose the menu when we got there, so this may help you out. Good luck with everything next week and try not to stress, it sounds like everything falls into place once you are there. We have also been told twice now that we wouldn't have to pay to have the Blue Lagoon, which I don't believe, but we will try and hold them to that and see what happens, If not Posieden here we come!
  16. Congratulations julie! i hope you have pictures that you will share. Did you use your own photographer or the hotel one? I'm stuck with the hotel one and was hoping to hear that they are not as horrible as their website has led me to believe. Also can you tell us some of the other details like reception location, menu, how you did music, etc. thanks! Petals- did you send the documents directly to Jascynthia at the hotel address? Do you have the address you sent it to? Otherwise I'm going to have to get the address of the website because I still haven't hear back from Jascynthia about what to send and where and we are getting close the the one month mark. I'm starting to get very nervous about it all because of the lack of communication. thanks for all you helpful info!
  17. thanks petals. when you sent your documents over did you send your real licenses or copies? i know the birth certificates have to be real or certified copies but what about the licenses? i did read that you should not expect to get anything you send back. thanks, Dana
  18. Thanks Petals. when you sent your document over, did you send copies of your drivers licenses? I know the birth certificates have to be certified copies, but do the licenses have to be the real deal? I did read not to expect to have anything returned. thanks! dana
  19. Hi all, We are getting married June 29, 2009, and I feel very behind . We had to switch from Mexico last minute and now starting over. I have been in contact with Jascynthia but only to confirm the date and have her email me the packages, flowers, etc. I have not heard from her since and am a little nervous. Maybe some of you can help me with some questions. We are a small group, 14, maybe 16. We chose the Caribbean package because of the dinner at the blue lagoon, that seemed like the best option for us to have a reception, any comments other ideas?? Does anyone know when you have to choose the menu by? I haven't even been sent options yet. Has anyone used the hotel photographer? and do you have any sample you can share, or their website? Otherwise I'm not sure what to do about that. What needs to be sent to Jascynthia for the marriage certificate? I know certified copies of both birth certificates, but can we send copies of our licenses/passports? and is that all that needs to be sent? Do I fed ex this stuff directly to Jascynthia and the Resort? Thanks for any help you can give! Dana
