  1. Chevy - she sent me the exact same email word for word! LOL

At this point, it's something that I'm trying to not stress about. I do think it's not right that they don't have enough chairs for everyone, but like varaderobride said it's Cuba and they just don't have the resources.

I will ask for the plastic 'ghetto' chairs though for the extra guests and that way everyone has the option to sit if they want.

Your date is coming up fast!! I`m so excited for you!! You gotta for sure post some pics when you are back and settled in. monkey.gif

  2. We were in the same boat when we were deciding. We liked all of the ones you mentioned, and than had it narrowed down to either the Melia Varadero and Iberostar Laguna.

It took some time for us to finally pick - we just read as many reviews as we could (kinda hard because ILA is brand new, and at the time there weren't any reviews). I actually asked a lot of my guests to share their opinions on which hotel they liked best, and where they would rather stay. Most of them thought it would be awesome to stay in a new resort. After about a month or so of going back and forth we went with ILA.

The best advice I can give you is to know that whichever resort you do pick will be amazing and you will have a beautiful wedding. For me, picking where to go was one of the more stressful parts of the planning, but once you do decide it feels great, and everything else will just come together. I hope that helps

Good luck and let us know where you decide!!

  3. I have been away from this thread for awhile but I am so glad that I found it again. I just read the whole thread and I am glad I'm not alone with feeling overwhlemed. I can't believe how fast time is flying. I am in shock everytime I write the date...how is it almost APRIL!?

I know I am a little late with this one, but I finally finished and mailed my DIY boarding pass invites on Monday. It was my first DIY project ever so it took me a little longer, but it was really fun and now that they are sent it feels great. I actually just got a call from FI's cousin - he thought the invite was the actual boarding pass for the plane!! haha (Martha Stewart better watch out ;-)

My goal this weekend is to get my OOT bags under control...I have been just randomly buying things here and there for months, so now I have to sit down and sort through what I have/need.

OKay thanks so much Chevy that should be easy enough. Did you get all of your documents translated into spanish and legalized?

I sent an email about the chairs as well!! LOLfryingpan.gif
  5. I was just wondering if any of you ladies have the fax number of where we need to send all of our documents to Yahimara. She hasn't responded to any emails this week (weird she is so fast sometimes). Also, I am confused yet again, when I asked her to clarify what documents were needed this is what she sent me...

Please find below the documents requested for getting married in Cuba.

If you are both single ALL THAT YOU NEED to send me:

    - A copy of the passports of the bride and groom.

    - A copy of the passports of the witnesses.

    - A copy of the certificate of birth of bride and groom

    - Tourist card of the couple and the witnesses ( This is a card you will receive at the airport when you arrive in Cuba)

    - The Data Form I sent you with the Wedding Package.

You do not need to legalize or translate anything if it is in Spanish/ English or French.

    Best regards,

All of our documents are in english, so is she saying that I do not need to translate or legalize anything? At this point, more confusion is just par for the course lol.

Trueloveforlife - we used Factory 21 for our stadium cups...they were great and customized them very nicely. The quality isn't top notch, but when you need over sixty of them we couldn't afford to go all out with them.

And only 30 chairs!! WTF!?? That is a f*%cking joke!! Let's all email Yahimara frequently about this because that really isn't acceptable. DW's do require a bit of compramise and we all know that things don't go as planned but making some guests stand just isn't right in my eyes. Hopefully this will get resolved before any of the upcoming brides go there

  6. ML23 - sorry for the late reply..we have been very busy these past few weeks (we had our stag and doe last week) We haven't purchased the humidors yet, but it does look like they are going to cost anywhere from $75 upwards each. They are pretty expensive but we're gonna try to swing it because we have a pretty amazing wedding party, and think it's a cool gift before going to Cuba :-) I'll keep you updated if we find any deals, and on where we end up getting them from.

As for the 'welcome dinner' I did email Yahimara AGAIN about this, and now she says to email her two weeks before and it will be considered one of the a la cartes.

  7. That's so weird Lisa! Thanks so much for posting what she wrote to you. I think a big part of the miscommunication comes from the language barrier. I just sent her another email re-asking her about the dinner....

Barrierunner - we are planning on bringing down everything with us. We're doing OOT bags for our guests, with nicer ones for the wedding party. I have already asked a few people (guys mostly LOL) to let us use a little of their suitcase to bring it all down. The only thing we may have to give out before hand is our GM's gifts. FI wants to get them really nice humidors (cigar cases) and I don't wanna risk travelling with them. What are you planning on doing for your gifts?

  8. I got a response from Yahimara about the table numbers and shapes.

She said they hold either 6 or 8 people and are rectangle. I also asked about colours and they have white and gold at this point.

I had requested that she make a reservation for our group in the Japanese restaurant the day after we arrive (sort of a welcome dinner, but I didn't call it that) and she said she can't do that....are any of you guys doing some sort of meet and greet dinner before the big day? Any ideas on how to get around this one?

  9. Thanks for the website barrierrunner...I will check that out right now :-) I will send Yahimara an email now asking the table questions, so whoever gets a response first we can just let everyone here know lol.

All of you girls are so awesome and I am so glad we have this forum so we can all help eachother out

Mel - from what I remember I was told to pick the restaurant when we get there as well, but I will add that question to this email. I kinda think it's better if we can wait until we get there to pick so we can actually see what the options are in person.
