We had 15 PPL book off resort and we only have 22 people booked onto the resort so I am MAJORLY freaking out about how we are going to get them onto the resort for the day! Well....I got a response from my TA and one of her coleagues that speak spanish called the resort yesterday only to find out that they are strict on the 20% policy, and anything over that is strictly up to the wedding coordinator's discretion. I have already told one couple that they won't be able to come to the wedding (they kind of invited themselves anyway), and I have sent out a plea to the best man and hope they can change and stay at MP, otherwise he will not be the best man!
  2. IDK if anyone else is experiencing this, but, some of my guests (including the best man) are playing the cheap role......is our MP expensive? 2 couples already said that they found cheaper prices and are staying off of MP. I don't know people's budget, but go hard or go home. I don't want to go on vacation and have to worry about if I'll have spending money or if I can get drinks. I really didn't care if people stayed at other places, but MP has a policy that only allows 20% of your total on-site guests to be staying at other resorts....so, if I have 20 ppl staying at MP, I can only have 4 ppl staying elsewhere. My TA is trying to contact the WC at MP because when I emailed them, they really didn't understand what I was saying. So, we will see.
  3. Ok, I know that MP has a rule that they will allow only 20% of your guest list to be ppl not staying at the resort......I am doing my numbers and it looks like I will have a total of 29 guests (this is based on ppl who actually booked somewhere, not RSVP's) with 19 (including me and FI) who will be at MP and the other 10 at other resorts.....Has anyone ever been in a case that their offsite guests have been turned away by MP for the wedding?

I am having the same issue. One of our friends booked through the website because it was a little bit cheaper, but they got free spa stuff. I want to know if you get the reception/cocktail hour ONLY if stuff is booked through MP? This is soooo confusing!

Yes, this seems to be a recurring issue, I found a review that mentioned this, and I will be sure to request an english copy at the resort, which costs $40. These destination weddings are something....the resort does not disclose EVERYTHING to you or let you know what your options are. The best thing I have come across is this site, because you learn about the Good, Bad and the Ugly!
  7. I am getting married at MP on march 19, 2010. We are going for the free package and adding on Photog, a reception, horse drawn carriage (heard it is a must!!). I am going to bring decorations for the beach ceremony location and some stuff for the reception.
  8. I am getting Married at MP on March 19, 2010. The days are counting down...really fast! I was going to go with a package, but I really don't need fireworks, and would like other things. I am going with the free package, adding photog, horse drawn carriage (from every review, i've heard it's a MUST!!), and I want the reception. I have some decorations for the beach ceremony and I will also bring some things for the reception table. I am excited!!
  9. I am getting married in March 2010, and everyone that is coming keep sending me news reports of all of the gang/drug violence in Mexico.....is anyone else dealing with this? I want everyone to be safe and not have to worry about anything once we arrive, I called our TA just to let her know my guests concern, and she basically put it to me like this: most of the violence is near the border of the U.S.( about 1200+ miles away, so would you worry about stuff going on in CHicago if you are in Los Angels? I had to relay this to my guest, and I am trying to keep them calm.Anybody else dealing with this??
  10. I loved the orange shoes....my and my daughter (4-year old flower girl) will be getting custom lilac Converse Chuck Taylor's...my mom almost fainted when I told her!!!!!
  11. The weird thing about the WC in Miami, is that she won't even respond to any of my emails....my mom is my Wedding planner, and she only replies to her. I guess that makes sense. I have also found that when my mom emails them a bunch of questions, they only respond to the first question......weird
  12. My name is Tiffani, and I got engaged on March 11, 2009. We have not picked an exact wedding date, but are looking around March/April 2010. We are definately going away, somewhere sunny, beautiful, and free flowing with the alcohol.
