Awesome! Thanks for the reassurances ladies. I'm happy to hear that we can go ahead with the floral arch and it will hold up
-
We would like to have a floral arch for our beach ceremony this July in Riviera Maya.
Not sure if this is worthwhile with the July heat. Would the flowers just wilt?
Has anyone used a floral arch for a summer wedding on the beach?

I like the idea of a practical stainless steel cake serving set. It would definitely come in handy for future birthdays, anniversaries etc...
-
I think it's a fun idea. We'll be having kids at our backyard AHR and will definitely have to do a pinata!
-
So gorgeous! I wish I could create that in our backyard for the AHR.
Great idea on the bamboo aisle runner!

Wow, this looks pretty interesting. I may just have to give it a try.

Thanks for sharing the website. I've never really liked classes so this will be perfect

Thanks ladies for all the great ideas & suggestions.
So far we've gotten quotes for the table/chair rentals, and we've arranged for a minister. Hopefully we can finalize those details shortly and move on to organizing the meal!

Are you doing a TTD?
Please let us know how the photography goes. I'm sure we'd all love to see your pics.
Congrats & Good Luck -
Hi Amanda, congrats on your wedding!
Yes, I'd like to keep it casual with a BBQ. However having it also being the legal ceremony, makes me wonder if we should have it semi-formal with catering... Of course, with less than 4 months to go we may not even be able to get a good caterer... poor planning on our part.

My fiance and I are having a symbolic ceremony at the DW.
We are planning on having the legal ceremony at home in our backyard with 40 guests the weekend before the DW. This way we can have our closest family & friends present when we exchange vows for the first time.
Has anyone done this sort of AHR? I'd love to hear how it went. Could help us decide on catered event vs. casual BBQ.
We're thinking of renting tables/chairs etc and BBQing for the meal. Might consider having it catered if the price is right and doing a BBQ would be too much work.

Hey Simistar,
No I haven't seen your TTD pics. I was referring to the photos in your review, which was great BTW. Love the detail, it really helps to see photos of a wedding at the resort.
If you'd like to share your TTD photos, pls PM me, I'd love to see them. We have been considering going somewhere else like a cenote for our TTD but may just stick with Maroma Beach. Not sure I want to have to change out of wet dress and carry it back to the resort.

Thanks for the suggestions on ceremony time, I think we'll change to 5 or 6 pm. Like you say, it will probably be to hot and crowded before then.

I just tried the RD1044 on tonite at a store here in Montreal. It was a size 10 and I'm an 8, so a little too big. But honestly, I didn't love it on me. I found the flowers too overwhelming. Guess it's not the one for me.
-
Thanks, and congrats to you too!
kirtze707 & newyork6156 - have either of you decided on your ceremony time & location?
We were thinking 4pm beach ceremony. Not sure if that would be too hot for July. Also we'll be doing our TTD photos right after on the beach. I think Jody had hers done on the beach resort & they were great.

We decided on Secrets Maroma & just booked our package. It's such a relief to have that all sorted out. So looking forward to the big day!

Hi, Looks like a great site, unfortunately for me, they don't sell any Maggie Sottero dresses. I have my heart set on a Maggie, love the corsetted back.
-
Same here. We've been receiving a lot of communication and information from Cecila, the WC at Maroma. Haven't heard anything from Capri, after 2 requests for date availability. This has me worried about choosing Capri, although I can't say I've heard or read about anyone having a bad experience at Capri. It's an older resort so it appears more lush with the grown vegetation which I really like for photos. Yet Maroma seems to have THE beach everyone raves about. It's a hard decision, hope there are brides out there who can share their experience in choosing.
-
Anyone had any luck with purchasing a Maggie Sottero gown online? I'm from Canada so I can't use BestBridalPrices because they can't ship Maggie internationally.

Hi, my fiance and I stayed there in July 2007 and it was beautiful. The weather and beach were amazing and we saw a wedding the week were there. They had the ceremony on the pier, all decorated with white tulle, even brought out furniture. It's a lovely resort. We may go back to get married there, but Secrets Maroma Beach is our first choice since we've been to Cuba several times. Congrats & good luck with your planning.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. This is a great forum with tons of planning info.
